Plumeria Cottage offers a vacation of ease indoors and out. Compact yet perfectly proportioned in the vintage beach style, it is a delightful combination of convenience and charm. And, with a roomy, sunny lanai and large shaded grassy yard, it becomes quite spacious. An outdoor-shower room with laundry and plenty of room for beach items and for drying wet towels and bathing suits keeps the indoors comfortable and relaxed. The nearby shoreline access is a short walk away. The cottage also has air conditioning.

There is another home on the property occupied by our long-term tenant & his dog. He will be very respectful of your privacy & quiet enjoyment of the home during your stay.

Beautifully appointed.
This place is better than described or photographed. Lots of nice amenities and ample supplies of everything you might need. Lovely and comfy bed and linens. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower! Snorkeling and sunsets across the street was amazing! Only thing that would be great to add is bicycles! We will be returning!

Amazing and perfect cottage
I came for a conference and did not want to stay at the hotel ,boy did I make the right choice ! This cottage is absolutely charming and quiet,well stocked with everything you need to have a wonderful time! We cooked outside most nights and enjoyed different beaches every day. Lava Lava Beach club and the Hale bar at the Fairmont were really nice and both close to the water. We will definitely be back ! Thank you for sharing this wonderful property!

We stayed at the Plumeria Cottage the first week of May. The house is a little piece of heaven. If you haven't stayed in the Puako area, it's a real treat. However you have to book through 2papayas. I was given a price via e-mails and predicated expense dicissions based on given information. Later when we got our damage deposit back. It was less than what I was told was refundable. Wait to get things in writing before commiting with these people. note: vrbo site gives correct info on refunds. 2papayas website gives false info on refunds and so do they.

THE BEST rental experience
I was so impressed with this rental in so many ways - the quality of the furnishings, the variety of supplies and the abundance of stock. Towels galore, best stocked kitchen ever encountered and the comfort was beyond my expectation. The location is quiet and convenient to beach park, beach trail, stores, etc. I could have stayed much longer but with 2 weeks here I really got a long over due, relaxing vacation that rejuvenated me. The cottage has a very unique Hawaiian feeling that one doesn't find at the vacation condos available in abundance and that was what I was seeking....aloha. This is aloha. I've also been snorkeling for years and spend a good amount of years in Hawaii over the years but the snorkeling out of the Puako beach park was the best, bar none. And I could walk there! In addition, I've been renting from homeaway, VRBO and others for longer than I care to admit and have virtually always had good experiences but this beats them all hands down. Mary and the 2 Papayas staff made all the difference. I got an advanced call in the event there were questions, we were greeted at the property at a very late hour (and he was standing by the road with a flashlight waving me in for landing!), was delighted by the ripe papayas waiting for me along with the gift bag and their overall communication was so professional and friendly. I was very impressed and felt appreciated, not just another renter. Thank you Mary, Sean and owner - Bravo!

It's not fancy which is a big part of it's charm, but it is extremely comfortable and supplied with everything we needed. Walking distance to very fun snorkeling, swimming, turtle gazing and incredible sunsets. We hope to return.

Plumeria Cottage
Loved everything about this place! The location is great. We walked across the street to watch the sunset every evening, always a stunning show. The house was easy to live in, equipped with everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the lanai which looks toward the ocean. There’s beach equipment, and the beaches are a very short drive from the house. There’s also a park at the end of the street where you can get in the water if you’re on the more adventurous side. The property managers are welcoming and responsive. This is our second time at Plumeria cottage and we hope to stay there again the next time we’re on the big island.

Unbelievable, truly a magical stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I highly recommend staying at the Plumeria Cottage if you are looking for a laid back experience away from the busier touristy locations. The cottage is located on a quiet residential street steps away from the ocean. Although the beach directly in front of the cottage is not ideal for swimming due to the volcanic rocks, it makes for an amazing sunset experience. It was also a popular place to see the sea turtles, so many! We enjoyed using the BBQ on the lanai daily, be sure to pick up your meat from Waimea Butcher Shop to support local and have unbeatable quality beef. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed and more with a well stocked kitchen, beach supplies, and toiletries. The outdoor shower was amazing with lush trees overhead. A few of our favorite things including grabbing poke bowls at Da Fish House and eating on 69's beach, hiking Pololu Valley and stopping at Gill's Lanai for the best fish tacos afterwards, and catching Kozy's Magic show! Truly and unforgettable trip, we are already looking to book our next stay at this amazing cottage.

The cottage is located right across the street from the water, with multiple access points along the street, including a great surf beach. It’s also an easy short drive to other attractions like Hāpuna Beach State Park, Hawi (art galleries / dining) and Waimea (dining / shopping). The home was perfect for my wife and I, with a well stocked kitchen that allowed us to cook many great dinners during the week. We spent most of our evenings relaxing on the deck, listening to the waves. Robin at the management office was fantastic communicating with us both before and during our visit to ensure everything was ok. I’ve already recommending the place to friends and family and can’t wait to go back again.

Lovely Puako Cottage

We walked 5 minutes to snorkel at one of the best spots on the Big Island. You will enjoy the outdoor shower! AC in the bedroom makes sleeping very comfortable. Cottage gets warm in the afternoon, but we were outside at that time most days. The large lanai is perfect for morning coffee and grilling dinner. Mary was very helpful. Quickly responded to a minor issue. Cottage is a great value for a couple. We will be back.

Perfect Plumeria

The location is on the Kohala coast and is ideal - close, easy access to multiple beaches with great snorkeling, sand, and beautiful sunsets. The cottage itself is extremely clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you need and more - outdoor shower and bbq were great! In fact, there wasn't one thing that was lacking, and quite the opposite, supplies were bountiful, which is rare with a rental. The location on a quiet street was close to some nice resort communities including Mauna Lai (5 min. down the highway) - golf, food store, a few shops, black sand beach, and the excellent restaurant "Canoe House." I would definitely recommend this rental for anyone who wants a quiet and private place to chill and to launch from to have tropical fun. One caveat that has been mentioned in other previous reviews, the cottage can get very warm from 2 - 5 PM (after 5 is very pleasant). There are fans which help, but the bedroom is air conditioned (we called it "the cooler") allowing for "escape" if, for some reason, you're not out and about during that time frame. The property management (Mary) made sure to check in a couple of times to see if we were happy - thanks Mary. Final words - a great place to stay with great value!

The cottage itself was well equipped, well maintained and very comfortable. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood it is across the street from the ocean with multiple access points. A short drive brings you to two major resort areas and shopping as well as historical and cultural sites. Be sure to take in Kona Kozy's magic and comedy show in nearby Queens Marketplace. Recommend highly, we will be back!

It is perfect for a couple who want to spend some romantic time together. The beach is a two minute walk away, the perfect place to watch the sunset. The house is impeccably clean with every utensil you could ever need to cook a gourmet meal. If you don't feel like cooking - you are a quick drive to many wonderful restaurants. This is truly the perfect cottage in the perfect spot - we are already planning our 4th visit.
