Kakahi Adventure Lodge

We offer a comfortable homestead, sleeps up to 7. In Kakahi, a sleepy village in the adventure playground of Ruapehu. You can reach us on +64278781813 or email maxa888@gmail.com

Our 257sqm, C J Allen Homestead is the oldest house in Kakahi, built in 1905. A few renovations later sees the house as comfortable, well positioned and inviting. The historic village of Kakahi is well known for it's trout fishing, Manu's authentic country general store, the glow worm cutting, and inspiring acclaimed New Zealand artist Peter McIntyre.

Kakahi is an easy drive to many adventures in the region. Kakahi Adventure Lodge provides a place where time stands still. The lodge sits at one end of the village, is private, sunny and peaceful. The night sky is vast and unspoiled by light pollution.

You will enjoy the following facilities; log fire, heat pump, electric blankets, linen and bedding. Fully equip kitchen, including microwave, crock pot, oven, stove, and fridge. Washing machine, library, games, cleaning products.. Fire wood, bbq, outdoor chairs and tables.

Kakahi is a small, sleepy, friendly village that will call you back time and again. Glow worm sight seeing, a wave to all and frequent visits to Manu's shop are must do activities!

Pick up can be arranged from the Taumarunui bus station or the National Park railway station.

The driveway to the lodge should be entered and exited from the village end of Waitea Branch Road. Cars pulling out of the driveway straight across the road are risking a collision with a car coming round the corner. ALWAYS exit to the eastern, or village side of the driveway.

NB. While we are pet friendly, you must contact us before booking if you are thinking of bringing a pet. There are some things we can not say yes too. Please just ask.

STRICTLY NO EV OR HYBRID CHARGING ON SITE - there are multiple charging ports in the district.

Quaint historic town
Unique property in off the beaten track town. Just what we were wanting and looking for. Maxine and Mike are wonderful hosts adding to the memorable experience. Minimal amenities in immediate town but all available in a town 15 minutes away.

Lovely rural hideaway
A great place to get away from city life and enjoy the peace and quiet, swapping traffic noise for birdsong, buildings for beautiful rural views, and crowds for a small friendly community.

The place was a big tick. The Bookabach web portal a nightmare!!
I gave 3 star for the comm's at best and that related to the website experience. The portal didn't work properly and I ended up having to get their phone number via facebook! The property was ideal for a group of guys on a fishing trip. And it would suit any group or family walking, biking, hunting etc. It was a lovely throwback to baches from days gone by. Don't expect flash, it's a good, honest, down to earth, interesting and well provisioned house and grounds, neat location and friendly people. We loved it and will be back!
