"The Lodge at Kaloko, Big Island Hawaii…what an amazing, unique place to experience. The lodge is truly one of a kind and is incredibly comfortable while beautiful."
-Guest, July 2022

"Out of all our experiences with hosts on AirBnb, Kaili's was by far our most memorable. Not only is this house an amazing home for large families or groups to enjoy, but it's so centrally located to most top beaches, grocery and shopping on the Kona side of the island."

Peaceful, Luxurious Getaway
The hosts were incredibly hospitable and very responsive. The home is beautiful and we especially loved the ease of indoor/outdoor living provided by the large sliding glass doors that open up the back wall of the living room. The temperatures on the mountainside were just a bit cooler in the morning and evening than on the beach, which was absolutely perfect for us. The property is absolutely beautiful with lush greenery everywhere while also offering a gorgeous view of the ocean in the distance. We truly enjoyed our family getaway! Thank you!

Reason for the delayed response is we don’t know where to begin. The whole experience of renting the Lodge at Kaloko was something you do once in a lifetime. Kaili, home owner was great to work with. She was very receptive to our asks, needs or wants. We would highly recommend this location if you are ever trading to Kona, Hawaii.

Our Family Fun in Hawaii
The lodge is tucked away on the mountain side allowing close access to all activities in Kona. This allows for a cooler and relaxing atmosphere to unwind after soaking up the sun at the beach during the day. Our family of 16 enjoyed a fabulous stay at the lodge. The description and pictures showed the property and furnishings exact. The home was exceptionally clean and well taken care of......felt right at home immediately. The host did a phenomenal job in quickly responding to every question, making suggestions, giving recommendations and ensuring our stay was going well. The house fit our family of 16 perfectly. Each of the 5 families had their own private space with comfortable beds and bedding. The common gathering spaces were large enough to fit us all comfortably. The pool entertained the little ones while the adults enjoyed the fire pit. (pool temp was a bit chilly but kids didn't mind) The nights were cool and quiet, allowing for relaxation and rest. By day, you could see many birds and by night you could hear the coqui frogs and watch the sunset. Beaches, coffee plantations and Costco were close by!

Perfection!
We are a group of adult divers who came to Kona for a dive vacation. This is our third time doing this, and this house was far and away the best. The location is wonderful- <15 minutes to airport, harbor, and town, but in the cool hills. The home is beautiful and well cared for. We loved the hot tub and the extremely well-equipped kitchen; we prepare all of our meals and it was so easy in this amazing kitchen that had everything we wanted in terms of small appliances (rice cooker, instapot, vitamix, kitchenaid mixer, immersion blender, etc), some staple ingredients, and dishes/servingware. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would not hesitate to book this same property again. It was a very easy space to share with good spaces for coming together, and plenty of room to be apart, as well. My only tiny criticism is that, since we were a group of 10 all trying to caffeinate in the mornings, a regular old drip coffee machine would be helpful; there is a chemex, a french press, and a Nespresso, which is great, but they could not produce (and keep warm) coffee at the rate at which we wanted to consume it!

A perfect family gathering!
We had an amazing family time, full of great memories. We travel widely and incessantly, and I can't say enough good things! This is a spectacular property, with ocean views and a beautiful patio, pool, and hot tub. The kids wanted to live in the pool! Cleanliness was impeccable, even for my perfectionistic wife and adult children. Lots of room for people to spread out and have their own introvert space, but places where we all gathered together (lanai patio, living room, fire pit). The young kids had their own movie night upstairs (Moana and Lilo and Stitch) in front of the huge TV. Sunsets were amazing! Nights give a cool break from the sun of the beach and we had gentle rain a few times. There is real privacy here, with flowers and trees nestling around you. The birds sang each day, the frogs quietly opened the night, the roosters down the hill welcomed us each dawn. Overall, there is a deep sense of peace at this property which was tangible. Ka'ili, our owner and host, had provided anything we could need in a well-decorated but family friendly decor. The kitchen was modern, stocked, and used a ton! (Costco). She was immediately responsive to any questions which came up and gave us a list of great restaurants and beaches. Our favorite times were teaching the children to snorkel, our manta ray snorkeling cruise (a must!), times at the Lava Lava Beach Club beach (worth the 25-minute drive). We are already hoping for a repeat next year. Yep. That good.

A great week in Kona
Excellent property and very accurately described in the pictures and reviews. We had 11 people and needed 8 beds, and there was plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen is well stocked, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and outdoor area was superb. You are up the hill, about 10-15 minutes by car from airport, shopping and restaurants. Hosts are very attentive but not intrusive, and it is a perfect setting for a large extended family, or two families traveling together

Peaceful, cool, and so well appointed
Our group of seven loved our stay at Kalako! It was the quiet and peaceful retreat we were all wanting. The best thing about the house is that it’s so much cooler than the beach. We loved going from the uncomfortable heat into our leafy and quiet home. We used the beautiful hot tub everyday and night, sat by the fire pit and the glow of the torches, and enjoyed all the different nooks and seating areas. The house is very thoughtfully appointed! There are Bluetooth speakers throughout the house, the kitchen has all the equipment you need (even a pie server for Thanksgiving!) is a dream for hosting. Lots of large spaces to gather and lounge, but also plenty of room for privacy. Bedrooms and bathrooms are exactly as described with comfy beds. And it’s all about 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes to town. Hosts are immediately responsive and check in, but we had no problems at all. We would definitely book again!

A Golden experience for a Golden anniversary
We gathered at The Lodge to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and families. All 14 of us! From the time we booked our property and all throughout our stay, Kaili was so helpful and responsive. She really helped make this stay so memorable! The bedroom suites with ensuite baths were perfect for our 4 families with comfortable beds, linens, and supplies. The kitchen was spacious and had a well stocked pantry. Deliveries for needed food items were easy. The beach was a short drive and there was plenty of beach gear at the house for us to use. After a hot day at the beach, the cooler temperatures at the lodge were so welcome. The pool and hot tub were a plus and we’ll never forget the beautiful sunsets and the sounds of the coqui at night. Beautiful home, stunning setting, and excellent host. Thank-you!

Wonderful vacation home
Our family of 12 adults had a wonderful time in the home. There was plenty of space for everyone inside the home. There is also a great covered patio with a comfortable sitting area and a table for outdoor dining. The hot tub and pool are a nice addition to the home. The real benefit of the home was the host. Her communication was amazing. She checked on us several times, provided suggestions of things to do and see and let us know that the volcano had started erupting again. I would highly recommend this property. This was the best host that I have ever dealt with on any rental!

Just like being at home!
Four couples and one discerning teenager stayed here for a week before Christmas and gave it all a 10. The house was just as described and MORE! Having separate bedrooms with en suite baths was ideal for four couples, and the bunk room perfect for the one teen (bath right across the hall). The bathrooms were well stocked with paper goods, hair dryers, and extra towels. Even though you aren't at the beach listening to the waves at the Ranch, the cooler temps at 2k feet and the singing coquis made for wonderous sleep in the very comfy beds. Living and dining spaces were fabulous for our whole family to congregate. TV went out on the first morning, and it was promptly replaced with a new one by mid-afternoon. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you could ever want, including basic pantry items (flour, sugar, baking powder, spices, etc.) that made it easy to turn some of our overripe bananas into banana bread one afternoon. Little things like having laundry detergent and dryer sheets available were a plus, and just made the high end experience even more homelike (the opposite of a high end hotel where you are nickel and dimed for everything). The host was EXTREMELY responsive and oh-so-helpful the entire stay. Instacart delivered here from Safeway and Costco, and supplemental needs could be filled just a few minutes away at those and other stores. I appreciated the easy check out process, especially that our unused/unopened food didn't have to be pitched and instead would be donated for community use. Mahalo, Kaili and family!

We truly enjoyed our stay here! The hosts were great and went out of their way to make sure we had the best trip, including grocery shopping for us before we arrived and setting up cleaners for while we were there. The pictures don't do the house justice, it was even better than we expected. The kitchen supplies were well stocked and perfect for holiday cooking. We highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous Home
This home is beautiful with amazing ocean views and fabulous sunsets. We spent every evening lounging in the hot tube while the younger kids in the group played in the pool. Most of our meals were eaten out on the lovely covered patio where there was room for all of us. The interior of the house is amazing - well stocked and tons of room for all of our family to spread out. I was initially concerned to be so far off the ocean for this trip but it turned out to be a blessing - beaches and surf are great but it was very hot while we were visiting Hawaii - it was so lovely to drive back up to a cooler climate after a day playing in the heat. The house is really close to everything just depending on what road you take down the hill so overall it ended up being perfect and extremely convenient. We really loved staying here and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home.

Wonderful home for reunion
We took our family of 10 to Hawaii to celebrate our anniversary. This was a perfect house for our celebration/Covid reunion. The house is in the forest just 15 minute drive above one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Kona is just a short drive away. We had a lovely time, and would definitely choose this again over options of resorts or condos. The house is beautiful with enough space, we all enjoyed the privacy. Each bedroom suite is spacious. The house provides beautiful indoor/outdoor living. We spent a lot of time in the covered outdoor dining, lounging and spa areas. Appliances, bedding, etc are all top notch. When issues arose, the host was responsive to get things done quickly and easily. Bottom line: this is a lovely home, perfect for a gathering. Highly recommend!

Paradise!
This home is amazing! If you are considering it for your trip, you couldn't find another vacation property that is as ideal as this place. It is close to everything: beautiful beaches, restaurants, Kona Airport, but yet secluded and private. It's the best of both worlds: away from it all, but with easy (10-20 minutes) access to so many great things.. Our family loved it! You could feel the tension leave all of us the second we arrived. The decor is lovely, the beds and bedding are divinely comfortable, the kitchen is a dream, stocked with everything you could need to cook anything. We had planned to eat out more, but we loved being at the house so much, that many meals we cooked just so we could enjoy the outdoor eating spaces. Our whole family loved the hot tub and the pool. We enjoyed them every evening after our day of adventures. The owner is incredibly kind, and available for any questions about the house or the area. She also connected us with her friends who run night snorkeling trips with the manta rays (a must do/will-never-forget-it experience!) and we also did another daytime snorkel adventure at the Captain Cook Monument. Both we did privately, so it was just our family. So memorable and huge thanks to Kaili for connecting us with such kind people to be our adventure guides. Other perks (too many to name): the amazing movie room, the huge living room with high ceilings, the design of the house which enables everyone to have private spaces, the lovely dining spaces (indoors and out), the cute donkeys who live on the neighboring property and walk up to the fence to say hello (usually daily), the great shampoo and conditioner in every bathroom, and not only does the kitchen have every type of cooking utensil you could need, but it is fully stocked with spices, flour, sugar, and other basics. (other rental homes sometimes don't even have salt and pepper!). And there are boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach bags, cooler bags, water bottles, and beach towels, all for guest use. We have traveled A LOT, and use VRBO (or other rental) homes frequently, and I don't think I have ever stayed at a home that I enjoyed more than this one. It is truly paradise!
