The best rooms with the best views that you'll find for the price. An excellent family owned place that was very personable and relaxed. Being right on the ocean and just a few minute drive from the popular beaches, snorkel spots and downtown Kona shopping and food.
It's not a typical hotel type stay, meaning there was no AC, TV, free breakfast type of amenities, but like many have said, they are not needed. Being 20 feet away from the ocean, it's plenty cool to sleep at night listening to the waves. It's warm in the rooms in the middle of the day, but 2 fans are provided to take the edge off. Being able to make some coffee and step out onto our personal patio and watch the tides in the morning and the sunset every night was a highlight of our stay.
The parking lot is in fact tight to get in and out of, but after a few times, you get used to it, and after being in Kona for a week and seeing the parking situations everywhere, just having enough free parking at all is a blessing. You will hear some road noise behind you, random people with loud cars and playing obnoxious music, but without AC units, and other guests TV's, it is a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Jim and the ladies up front were great hosts. Always around to provide anything we needed.
The beds and pillows were also some of the most comfortable we've had at any hotel.
The only thing that really needed an upgrade was the shower water pressure, so getting off the sunscreen before bed took some scrubbing.
