An artist had a dream and he's inviting you to enjoy it. This is an experience, not just a place to stay. You'll be thrilled and inspired. Shangri-La stories will be told as you recant your Alaska vacation memories into the future. Johney is passionate and fun. His work is unique. It's edgy, and it's hard-core. Much of his art is three-dimensional, assemblage style. Johney figured out that he could make kitchens into art, so he studied rock shops around the country, created his own tools, and opened his stone fabrication shop in the garage of his home in 1999. Johney's eye for the perfect rock and design to match his customer's personality landed him on the cover of Southeast Living Magazine. He's a classic entrepreneur, turning one sale into another tool, and eventually he built \\\\built his shop in the back, and expanded the home around it until a masterpiece was created, and ready to share with you. Self-portraiture by late Skylar Engle is displayed throughout the property. These two Engle's have produced brilliant art, with outstandingly contrasting styles to interest you.

Your expectations should be limited to what is promised here, and reviews should reflect how we did with these promises. Before submitting your review, please remember to base it on the following criteria and what was promised to be provided for the price paid as follows:
Easy check-in process – You'll be able to self-check in. Kelli will give you check-in details prior to arrival, including a lock box code. You'll be able to access the rental at your leisure after check-in time, at 4pm. We offer early check-in options, if it's available a couple days prior to your arrival for $25-$50, depending on your arrival time.
Great Communication – Kelli is known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions. She'll respond to web site messages as soon as she can.
Clean Accommodations – Your private apartment should be sparkling clean.
Great Auke Bay/Back Loop Location – It's steps from the city bus stop and three miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier. You can take the bus, which stops one mile away from the glacier. You can also rent a bike, available at the property, and get to the glacier and Auke bay on trails, bike paths, and short sections of road with shoulder/bike lane. This is not a downtown Juneau property. Downtown Juneau is substantially more expensive than the Mendenhall Valley, so this location for the price should not be compared to that of downtown. If you want to be downtown, and don't want to take a 45 minute bus ride to go 16 miles, then this space is not for you.
Accurate Description of the space - I try to make continuous improvements when guests make suggestions and do my best to keep the changes updated and published. If I missed something please let me know, so I can update the information. If you are missing something you were counting on, please let me know immediately, so I can try to provide it for your stay.
Great Value – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season, and while this is a more affordable option, we understand that it can seem expensive. Part of the value is the ability to rent for only one night and have an additional person. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have to charge more when the business is there, so that we can afford to have it vacant for long, slow periods.
