We came to see the Johnson City Lights for the holidays and had a great time! We were able to easily walk from the house to the lights, and the kids loved it. The house was cozy & we loved all the Johnson family memorabilia. My kids (7 & 10) thought the sunroom and record player were really cool. It is pet friendly, and we brought our dog. The yard was not enclosed, so we kept him on a leash. Hoping to come back next time when we can explore a little more on Main Street & spend some time at the Science Mill!
A lovely old home and was nice to spend the night at. Loved learning the history of the home as well. We went to Bryans on 290 for dinner and it was in walking distance from this home.
This was a wonderful experience! Johnson City is a gem of the Hill Country and this place was just as elegant. Very comfortable and clean. A beautiful place. Would definitely stay there again.
The home itself is definitely historic, however we enjoyed all of the memorabilia and character. Homes location is great and easy to get to other places, check in process was easy. The beds are comfortable.
3 girls on a wine weekend! Our driver from Open Range Tours picked us up! It was wonderful. Then we walked to downtown to get some dinner. So many things within walking distance.
The house was as described and accommodating. Lots of history and info on LBJ and his brother. Front bedroom bed was very comfortable. Kitchen had plenty of what we need to make meals when we didn’t eat out. Owner made checking and checked out easy.

Disappointed
We didn’t actually end up staying at the property. We were there for a total of 5 minutes and decided to find a hotel instead. The house does not look like the photos online. The yard was unkept and the nearby homes were as well. The primary issue was the very strong smell in the house (stale and old). The owner refused to refund our money. This was our first bad vrbo experience.

The inside was clean but the porch and steps were filthy. We could not sit outside. The pots and pans were unusable. The mattress in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable. The place was quaint and quiet. However we would not book the place again. Consuelo R. Hughes

Great Location but needs some TLC
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The location is in a great location 3 blocks from the Court House in Johnson City. It was very convenient for our plans to get out and explore the winerys around Johnson City and a short walk to the restaurants in downtown. The road noise at night is not too bad. Them only time I noticed noise from 290 is when a 18 wheeler would go by, but it wasn't too bad. We had planty of room for us (2 adults & 1 child). The property manager, Wilma, was very responsive and great to deal with. There are some things that kept us from giving a higher rating. With an older home you need to expect that it needs a little more TLC. The other issue we had was that the listing states in the description that it has a King bed and double bed. Actually has a queen bed and a double bed.
We enjoyed all of the historical memorabilia in the home. It was cold and rainy and the house was very warm and cosy. Bed is more of a queen size than a king.
Came for memorial service of friend.
House is old, but historic, apparently part of LBJ’s immediate family. Convenient to 281 and things in Johnson City.
No dishwasher, but we knew that going in so we brought disposable dishes and cutlery. Be aware that pic of kitchen shows a Mr. Coffee but had a Kuerig. Coffee isn’t provided so plan accordingly. Bring ice, as well, no ice trays.
It’s dog friendly and worked well for us with our puppy dog.
I suggested to owner she provide written instructions for operating TV. It’s FUBO or something, but we weren’t familiar with how to use it. Just got lucky!
This home was perfect for an overnight stay in Johnson City. My mom and I were celebrating her 70th birthday and wanted a convenient location to the restaurants and shopping. This was right in the heart of downtown Johnson city and walking distance from the restaurants and shops we wanted to check out. Very charming and loved the historical aspect to it. Wilma was very responsive and was also flexible when our first date didn't work out due to severe storms. Really appreciate how accommodating she was throughout the process! :)
We loved our stay in this beautifully appointed and cozy home. 3-block walk to town to enjoy shopping, dining and Christmas lights. We’re hoping to return with our kids next year.

major disappointment
Property seemed uncared for and showed no pride of ownership: carpets stained and dirty, house had an unpleasant odor, bathtub was chiipped and the surround moldy, a mere drizzle of water out of the lavatory, and more.
Charming little house perfect for a weekend in the hill country. Close to everything in Johnson City and a short drive to all the wineries in Hye and Fredericksburg.
