Rooms themselves are nice. Service is not great as this is really a barebones operation. Be advised that the hotel is not on the main drag of Maboneng (and wouldn’t advise walking anywhere after dark)

Very good service, including storing luggage for 3 nights, double checking a bar bill we queried and organising an Uber for us. It was nice to have a room with a balcony, but beware the street noise!

Super hôtel! Le quartier peut déstabiliser au premier abord mais l’équipe de l’hôtel est de bon conseil. La décoration est sublime, la vue panoramique du 15eme étage est époustouflante! Ne manquez pas le restaurant dans l’hôtel, peu cher et de qualité exceptionnelle! Nous reviendrons!

Huge rooms, very secure
Stayed in a King room which was enormous, including the bathroom. Bedroom had a couch and bathroom had both a tub and separate shower. The corner room also had a full wrap around balcony with a swing. Large windows in the room and in the bathroom. Restaurant and bar were excellent and the hotel is very secure. Great stay.

Hotel situé dans le quartier des artistes. Bien tenu malheureusement rooftop en travaux donc inaccessible. Très bonne cuisine au restaurant de l'hôtel. Le personnel organise vos visites et vos déplacements.

O Hallmark é um hotel novo e bem cuidado. Equipe atenciosa e o quarto confortável. Fica em Maboneng, bairro que está se modernizando. Se você entende e gosta da Africa negra moderna e urbana, ok. Se procura por luxo e não depender de Uber para se locomover, é melhor procurar outra opção.

First thing that comes to your notice is the gloomy lighting. I don't know whether that was by design or due to the construction activity, but it didn't give a good feel. The staff were helpful. Rooms were decent. I really liked the swing that they've kept in each room. I believe some of the facilities like the pool, gym and restaurant upstairs is under renovation and will be ready in a couple of months. We stayed only for a day but one can check out their status before booking.

Great find in Joburg
The staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. The area is still on the edge so they ensured that we had a complimentary shuttle to nearby restaurants and pickup from those restaurants. They booked a last minute tour for us to Soweto and the Aparthied Museum and drove us to the pick up place. The shuttle drivers were very polite and great to talk to about local places and events. Room was spacious and modern and the complimentary breakfast wonderful, you could order anything you wanted from an extensive made to order breakfast menu. A great find at a reasonable price! We learned about it from the article "36 hours in Johannesburg" in the Sunday New York Times.

My husband and I were excited to try out the Hallmark House for part of our honeymoon to South Africa when we saw it written up in Conde Nast Traveler. Unfortunately, the new hotel fell short for a few reasons: our bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, it was dirty and there were hairs on the floor. Upon check-in, the hotel gave us to a room with 2 twin beds, when we had booked a double bed room. We had to wait for them to fix it for us in the twin room. The hotel was also designed poorly where there were steps for us to walk up and down with our luggage to get to the elevator. The hallways were also designed poorly, bad lighting in the hallway and also our room. It wasn't too expensive of a hotel, but really falls short of being a good place to stay.
