Big Canoe retreat & refresh
Loved the cabin and the wood burning fireplace! The cabin had everything you need and then some. It was a joy to spend the week here and there were several things to do near by to keep busy, if you wanted to be. For us, it was mostly peaceful and restful.

Great weekend
We had an amazing weekend! The cabin was cozy and clean. The outside screened in porch was great for reading and listening to the rain fall. My son enjoyed breakfast out there and all the scenery.

Gorgeous retreat!
We adored everything about our stay in this charming home EXCEPT the drive within the neighborhood. This is a lovely property just as pictured. Kitchen is beautifully stocked, and porches are so lovely. Master bed is very comfy. As one other reviewer said, the drive in is long. From main and north gates, the drive isn’t too terrible if you make every turn correctly. Wrong turns are easy, however, and some of the other portions of neighborhood have dramatically steep roads. There’s nothing the property owners can do about that, but if narrow mountain roads make you nervous, Big Canoe is not for you. All in all, a lovely stay. I recommend bringing all the groceries you need and just staying output for a long weekend. nervous, you.

Cozy haven
This cabin in the Big Canoe property is a true retreat. It is the perfect place to unwind. The screened in porch was the best spot to have a cup of coffee and relax. Comfy beds and couch too! The owners were very communicative and helpful. The Big Canoe property is beautiful as well - lots to do like hiking or tennis. We will be back!

Charmingly Rustic?
This property is deep within the Big Canoe complex, at least 15 min from the main gate up winding mountain 'roads' (some of these were only a car length wide). The drive-way is tough getting out of as you have to back out down a hill and then go uphill to go around the circle to get out. The house itself is charming, but rustic. The remodeled kitchen is beautiful, but I do not understand who designed it so that you cannot stand at the sink and open the dishwasher? It was better to either hand wash the dishes or pile them on the counter and then load (without rinsing) into the dishwasher. Shower pressure was great and water was hot. We had an issue with the AC upon arrival, but host was VERY responsive to the issue and we were able to resolve the issue in a short period of time. Really our only complaint was that the porches and deck could have used a good sweeping, but as explained to us there were storms that rolled through the day before our arrival.

Great Summer Getaway
My family of 4 had a splendid week in this charming cabin in the Big Canoe resort. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and cozy. Having coffee out on the back porch is a must! We saw deer on property every day. Having the two levels was super convenient and allowed for the kids to have their time and the adults to have theirs. Big Canoe has many amenities and you will not regret staying in this rustic and charming cabin! Super responsive hosts. We had an amazing week.

Great cabin in a cool community
My brother and I took our 4 teenage kids to GA for some white water rafting and to catch a Braves game. We needed a place that was centrally located to everything we were doing. This cabin was great for us. We were not aware that Big Canoe was a *large* gated community. We took some time one day just to explore Big Canoe. (We thought the chapel was beautiful.) The cabin had everything we needed. We hope to be back in the same area next summer.

Very Cozy & Serene Atmosphere
It was a great cozy home feel & had everything that we needed to cook meals and for extra family members to enjoy each others company. The neighborhood is beautiful and lots of deer! Loved it & highly recommend to anyone looking to get away or have a family get together! And even though we didn’t bring any children it’s set up to entertain and accommodate them too! : ). 👍👍

Big Canoe Cabin
It was clean and had much better towels than many VRBO places I've stayed. There were more dishes & cooking supplies + small appliances than most in the kitchen, which was great! The only downside to the home is that you have to drive 15 minutes from the gate to the home on very windy roads, so it significantly adds to your driving + even the resort amenities are a drive away.

It was a refreshing respite. There were many cozy sitting areas. Everything was supplied including spices, dishwasher soap, etc. The view was spectacular. We would recommend it to family and friends. It is a trek up the mountain and about a 40 min drive from Dawsonville. It is close to stores.

Perfect Mountain Getaway
I went to the mountains for a short get a way to rest and relax. The cabin's kitchen though small had a great assortment of kitchen gadgets and pot/pans. They even had a hot water pot! The best part of the cabin is definitely the screened in back porch. I spent the majority of my time out there enjoying the beautiful fall leaves and weather. I will definitely make plans to stay here again.

Beautiful Home and Location
My review is both positive and some 'not-so-positive' aspects of this rental. Please read through all of the post to understand. First, the home was beautiful and fully furnished and equipped. The Owners thought of everything that Renters will need. The kitchen was well stocked and the layout and comfort was impeccable. We felt at home, which is a good thing. Second, the area is VERY EXPENSIVE. We felt that we were 'nickle and dimed' by the community. Everything you want to do: Fish, play tennis, swim, use tennis courts has an add-on cost. This fault is not the Owners fault but was shocking to us considering the property owner already pays COA/HOA monthly fees. So we thought itf the monthly fees are covered, why do Renters have to pay additional. The golf course looked great. No one was on it the entire week we drove around. So I thought I would go. NOPE. The cost was $120 for a round at 3p. If the course dropped their rates, they may have more utilization. Anyway, enough of the bad. Third, the mountain location was great. We will go again but will understand that we will have to get out of Big Canoe so we are not charged for anything we want to do. Thank you Owners for thinking of everything. Your home is beautiful and we will rent again.

Great Vacation Getaway
My husband and I brought our 2 grandchildren, ages 9 and 12, for five nights to this adorable getaway. The owners were wonderful about corresponding with us ahead of time. The "cabin" is adorable and had everything we needed, from games and fishing poles to a kitchen that was fully stocked with equipment. The screened-in porch was so delightful in the mornings, and we were amazed by the number of deer that we saw in Big Canoe every day, even in the back of the cabin. The Big Canoe community is amazing, but we definately needed our GPS! The marina is so convenient, and the beach/pool with the water playground and rock slide was a full day of fun for the grandkids. When we arrived, this was the first week that the beach/pool was only open on Saturdays and Sundays which actually was good because I think the kids would have spent every day there otherwise! There were plenty of bath towels at the cabin, and it was wonderful to have a washer/dryer available. There is a grocery store a few miles away, and Dollar General is right at the entrance; however, they close very early--even for a Dollar General. There are not a lot of restaurants in the area, but we ate breakfast at the cabin and usually were out adventuring during the other meals. Nearby Amicalola Falls was really fun. We fished for trout there, hiked to the top of the Falls, and even went zip-lining. We went tubing in Dahlonega as well as mining for gold. We would love to return to this beautiful cabin.

3 Day Getaway
I stayed here with my family for a few days to get away from the 110-degree heat. The cabin was lovely, and the farmhouse decor is calming. The cabin exceeded my expectations with the indoor activities, the views, and going on hikes in the area. The host are very nice and easy to communicate with. I'm definitely keeping Rise and Shine in mind in the future. Thanks again! Jefferey H.
