I booked this so called “boutique” hotel’s 600sf suite rated as “exceptional “ or “10” on Expedia. They offer no cancellations, so I paid and purchased the cancellation insurance too.
While researching another stay, I saw this hotel again, with much lower rating on other sites. I got worried and decided to cancel. Expedia refused to honor my request. They also said that my cancellation insurance would not work because this was a non-refundable purchase. Imagine, they sell you a cancellation policy that won’t work for cancellations. All I had left was to cross my fingers and hope for the best.
When I arrived and was in the elevator, I started to remember the bad reviews; unbearable smells, dark hallways, exceptionally dirty doors… and inside the room, it got even worse; the sofa was horribly stained. The carpets, bathroom, bedroom, and the rest of the place were just as filthy and disgusting.
I went down and asked if he would at least refund me half my money so I would leave, he totally refused. I accepted my loss! I walked over to the Marriott that is a few minutes away and got me a room.
Expedia, shame on you for not vetting these properties and verifying their authenticity. I cannot believe anyone in their right mind would rate this hotel as a 10, or exceptional. In my opinion, Expedia is the one who dropped the ball here. Anyway, this place is one of the dirtiest and most unsanitary spaces I’ve ever seen in the hospitality industry, and I do travel!
