This three bedroom, two bath cape was built by an islander in the 1970s. This well-built house is an easy house to live in with an open floor plan kitchen with counter seating, opening into family room/sitting area, that opens into the living room with fireplace, that opens into a formal eating area. It is a cozy and comfortable living space. The small den has a pullout bed and full bath. The family/sitting room has a sliding glass door to a lovely screened porch, looking over a birch lined lawn down to a peaceful cove. The house is equipped with a generator that kicks in automatically when the power goes out. Island life!
Across the road is the Maddie Dodge Field with free tennis courts, basketball hoops and soccer field. There is a beach up the road. The Alice L. Pendleton Library is a short walk. There are beautiful walks through the woods created by Islesboro Island Trust, and public beaches at both ends of the island, as well as a favorite, swimming off Mosely's Dock! Stores and post office are a short drive.
In the summer, there is an ice cream/gift shop further down the road. The Sailor's Memorial Museum at the ferry and The Historical Society Museum, a short walk, have wonderful exhibits of island life through its history, open in the summer months. There is sailing instruction for any level at Big Tree Boating.
It is a wonderful community that welcomes newcomers.
