OUR LAST WEEK OF 2019 AVAILABLE DUE TO CANCELLATION - SATURDAY 24th AUGUST to 31st AUGUST.
Creagach Cottage is a delightful two bedroom detached holiday cottage set in over an acre of private grounds on the Waternish Peninsula and enjoys stunning views across Loch Snizort towards the Ascrib and Shiant Islands, the Trotternish Peninsula and across the Minch to Harris and Lewis.
It's the perfect romantic retreat. Come and sit and relax by the wood burner and enjoy the stunning uninterrupted views from the comfort of our sitting room with its low-level panoramic windows. The lounge also has a TV and DVD player with Freeview Channels. We have a good selection of DVDs, CDs, games, and books in the bookcase and chest. We have a SONY speaker that connects to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, and you can play your pre-downloaded music. There's also a supply of tea lights for added romance!
The modern open plan kitchen/ dining area is also a great space to enjoy the views from the dual-aspect windows while preparing your breakfast or dinner. The fully equipped Kitchen with dishwasher has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. Supplies of salt, pepper, herbs, oils and some tomato and brown sauce sachets are provided too. We have an espresso machine and filter machine for fresh coffee. We also have a slow cooker just in case you want to have a culinary masterpiece ready for your return from a day exploring.
The utility room also has a washing machine and tumble dryer just in case you need to do a wash while you visit. We also have an outdoor drying area.
The cottage sleeps four in one king room, and one double room both with new pocket sprung mattresses, high-quality Egyptian cotton linen, and hypoallergenic bedding.
The master bedroom has sea views to the front, a comfortable king size bed, and an ensuite toilet and shower room.
The second bedroom has a double bed and has windows to the side of the property with open sea views. This room has access to the main bathroom with a full-size bath, shower over and underfloor heating. Each bathroom comes with luxury toiletries - shower/bath gel, moisturiser and hand soap - so enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in a room with magnificent sea views – brushing your teeth will never be the same again! The bathrooms both have charging sockets for electric razors and toothbrushes. Fluffy Egyptian cotton bath and hand towels are provided.
Heating is by a wood burning stove and thermostatically controlled radiators throughout the house which along with double glazing and full insulation make this a cosy home.
Broadband is poor in rural Skye so we have invested in satellite broadband to provide a more stable and slightly faster service. The broadband is perfect for checking emails, social media, and web browsing but not suitable for streaming or gaming services.
Outside we have a picnic bench that looks over the view and also two separate wooden chairs that can be moved around the garden to find your perfect chill out spot. Be sure to keep an eye out for the White-Tailed sea eagle that is frequently spotted in Geary. The garden also has a growing selection of interesting plants and bushes so feel free to explore. Just take care on the uneven ground off the main paths. You will find vases in the kitchen so feel free to pick some flowers to enjoy during your stay if there are any out during your stay.
Creagach Cottage is the perfect location for a holiday as you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the cottage and garden, but you are also very handy if you want to explore Skye's tourist sites. Dunvegan Castle is around 15minutes away, and if you are planning a visit to St Kilda, the boat leaves from the jetty about 5-10 minutes from the cottage.
Waternish has lots of lovely walks so be sure to check the guidebooks in the cottage for routes. After a day exploring Skye, there is a handy utility room and boot store accessed by the main entrance porch to leave your outdoor clothing behind.
Geary is a crofting township, and many of our neighbours have honesty boxes at their gates to sell their produce. This takes shopping locally to a whole new level. Just opposite our gate, you will see our neighbour Fiona's box - she sells fresh hen and duck eggs and homemade preserves. Further along the road, you can buy cakes, cheeses and chutney. If you are driving around Skye and you spot an honesty box stop and have a look - you never know what will be inside!
The cottage is also handy for visiting Skye's Oldest Inn - Stein Inn. They serve a great selection of local beers and have a good range of bar meals. Michelin Star winning Loch Bay Restaurant is also just a five to ten-minute drive/taxi ride away, so perfect for an evening out.
Edinbane Lodge, Edinbane Inn, The Three Chimneys and the Old School Restaurant are also a short drive away.
The cottage is situated under some of the darkest skies in Europe, so it's perfect for star gazing and aurora spotting. Waternish is also classed as one of the best places in the world to watch a sunset - but we also think the sun rises are pretty spectacular too.
We hope that you can come and enjoy Creagach Cottage and love it as much as we do.
