Glacial Esker Bunkhouse - Spacious Lakeside Rustic Lodge

Explore thousands of acres of public forest land and enjoy endless miles of some of the best recreational trails Minnesota has to offer. Step out of the Cabin, located in the middle of Lake County forested land, and right onto mountain bike trails, atv, snowshoe, snowmobile and ski trails . This is a rustic, maintained Cabin so come prepared to relax, unwind and enjoy/explore the wonders of the north woods. Our largest cabin, this two-story log bunkhouse overlooking Sand Lake features four rooms – two of them bedrooms with seven beds. It includes cooking and eating areas, wood heater, refrigerator and electric stovetop. Three twin beds are in a separate room, with another four beds upstairs (two king and two full or twin). Families or groups will enjoy the roomy layout and the lake view from the balcony. Minimum registrants: 1 persons. Maximum 9 persons. This cabin is nestled in Lake County surrounded by forest. Our cabins are insulated for year round use, complete with woodstove. Firewood is provided only for heating with the woodstove. No linens or pillows are provided, so be sure to pack your sleeping bag. A picnic table is also located outside the cabin. Outside the cabin we have picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. This is bear country so please store food inside. A rundown of the basics: Bathrooms: the cabin does not have indoor plumbing , but is located near a pit toilet/outhouse, which is available year-round. Capacity: Can sleep up to 9 people. Additional overnight guests are not allowed. Cooking: All cabins have a picnic table and fire ring with grill grate for outdoor cooking. No candles, or other open flames are allowed inside the cabin. Cooking is permitted in the cabin on top of the metal hot plate. Extra caution must be used when cooking inside the cabin. Electricity: Indoor lighting, electrical outlets as well as Wifi. Water: no running water in the cabin but there are multiple wells onsite, water jugs are provided at check in. Heat: Cabins have a wood stove for heat. Split firewood is provided for use in the wood stove only. Firewood: Wood will be provided for the wood stove which heats the cabin. Dead and down wood can be collected from the surrounding forest for use in the fire ring. Boat House: Guests have access to our canoes. Life vests are provided and required while paddling, these can be found in the Boat House. Please return paddles and life vests to Boat House after use. Feel free to explore Sand River or Sand Lake, the Sand Lake public beach (Sand Lake Rustic Campground on Google Maps) is about a 30min paddle away. Please bring your own fishing gear and license if planning to fish. Wood Burning Sauna: Our sauna is available for guest use, split wood is provided for the wood stove at entrance to sauna. As the sauna heats up use the provided bowl and ladle to increase room temp and humidity by pouring water on hot rocks. Property Trails: Guests are welcome to explore our many trails on property.
