A Sanctuary to Relax and Refresh all your Senses

Savor spellbinding views of Tomales Bay from your bed, the couch, and soaking tub in this home that blends natural elegance with luxury and comfort. Nestled in the heart of the national park, the home is an indoor-outdoor sanctuary in which to connect with self, others and the natural environment.

Centrally located and enveloped in nature, the home invites exploration-of and communion-in the great outdoors. From the private garden patio, you are invited to forest bath on trails weaving through the property’s aromatic bay forest. And kayak, hike and track wildlife in the surrounding national park.

A 5-minute walk into the historic town of Inverness leads to oysters, wine, and farm-to-table delicacies. Or a short drive leads to tours, tastes and connection with nearby oyster-farmers, cheesemakers, vintners and local artisans.

Or, curl up on a sofa or the outdoor hammock with a book to take in the mesmerizing views and relax.

Located on a sunny perch just above the historic town of Inverness you can look forward to comfortably modern bed-bath accommodations, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, and indoor lounge space with a strong indoor-outdoor connection to the surrounding natural environment. The large property has picnic areas, trails through a native garden, fern groves, and towering pine and bay forests.

The Home:

Inspired by the surrounding environment and historic agricultural landscape, the coastal home was designed and built in 1977 and renovated in 2007 by renowned local architect Jon Fernandez (the architect of the iconic Point Reyes Cowgirl Creamery/Tomales Bay Foods building).

The redwood siding and sharp-angled walls architecturally create an abstract impression of an agricultural barn. The rustic yet modern design continues past the front door. Inside, airy simplicity is combined with warm redwood finishes and picture windows to enhance your indoor-outdoor living experience.

Since you might spend some of your time engaging with the great outdoors, once you enter the home you will find a space to store your coats, backpacks, and gear that you use to explore the surrounding park and beaches.

Are you or someone in your group a cook? You will find a fully equipped gourmet kitchen that is functional and modern. There are ample wine, champagne and water glasses and you’ll eat from artistic vintage earthenware. There are two Thermador ovens, a gas range and dishwasher. Custom cherry-wood cabinetry provides a warm and luxurious feel, while the black granite countertops and island reflect the granite outcrop on which the home is perched. The raised wood table in the breakfast nook is an ideal spot for morning coffee with a long and reflective view up Tomales bay toward hog island.

The dining room sits between the kitchen and great room, surrounded by custom shelving that house original owner-created ceramic bowls and platters from which to serve your meals.

The long sofa and day-bed inside a picture window in the great room invites guests to curl up with a book and take in the spellbinding bay, agricultural and parkland views. There is ample seating to gaze at the landscape and bird watch through rows of expansive windows.

Indoors, you will be extremely comfortable.

The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, with views of the bay’s blue water and surrounding green mountains from every bed. Providing for maximum privacy, each bedroom, bathroom and balcony are on separate levels of the home. And both Master bedrooms have bathrooms with a soaking tub and shower. The downstairs bathroom includes a soaking tub with glassed walled views of the bay and surrounding landscape. Coastal birds will soar by as you settle into the warmth of the shower and bath.

The downstairs master bedroom has a sitting area to enjoy a book or to work in privacy. The upstairs master bedroom is clean and sparse with a comfy, pillowed bed and two end-tables. The third bedroom room has the added dramatic yet warm feeling from an angled floor to ceiling redwood lined wall. Magnificent views of the bay and coastal hills are artistically framed through the windows. This main-floor room has access to a modern bathroom with a marbled walk-in shower. This room doubles as a cozy entertainment room with a flat screen TV on a pivotal arm and a closet filled with board games.

On every level, the home opens onto outdoor decks and large balconies. Metal fencing on the kitchen and master bedroom balconies extends the modern feel, while allowing maximum light, safety, and extended views.

The outdoor garden, landscaped with native plants, leads to trails under aromatic bay and towering pine forests throughout the property. A large blue-stone patio with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, hammock, and BBQ is nestled into a natural small amphitheater-like setting overlooking the historic town of Inverness, the blue water of Tomales bay, and natural landscapes. A scenic perch, enveloped in nature, designed to enhance connections with self, others and nature.

A thoroughly comfortable and scenic escape in nature. A place to relax and refresh all of your senses.

Amazing home with great views

Great space, clean and comfortable with a well-equiped kitchen. The teenagers would have liked some shades in the bedrooms as the sun woke them up early, but otherwise a perfect weekend away.

Amazing property, amazing host.

This place looks every bit as good and even better than its listing pictures. This is such clean, perfectly decorated and equipped high end home that it's hard at times to remember that this is a rental. The view on Tomales Bay is breathtaking. Rachel the host is wonderfully responsive and attentive to your needs. We cannot wait to rent it again.

Thanksgiving Gratitude

A gathering of East Coast parents and West Coast young adult children for the holiday was everything we could have asked for. The home is inviting and comfortable, and outfitted with a kitchen to make a Thanksgiving meal! We thoroughly enjoyed hikes / walks in Point Reyes, local fare, outings, and the beauty of our surroundings. The views from the house are spectacular! We highly recommend this home for a family gathering and peaceful stay. Thank you Rachel and Jesse for sharing!

Great space for one to two couples who enjoy cooking in this well equipped kitchen or if you prefer dining out, Saltwater is a fabulous neighborhood haunt. Pt Reyes National Park is a short drive away for hiking and some of the most exquisite beaches. Looking forward to a repeat visit.

lovely well appointed home

We joined our family in the area to enjoy Thanksgiving week. Beautiful home and setting with many windows from which to enjoy the views below. Breakfast off the kitchen deck was lovely and viewing the stars from the upper deck was awesome. The fireplace and the available wood was extra special. The 3rd bedroom with the pull out sofa is best for the young.

Views forever!

Beautiful home perched on the hill above the inlet. So peaceful. Every morning we had the pleasure of watching two turkey vultures drying their wings and sunning themselves on the branches of a old tree. We enjoyed a couple of hikes and discovered the Inverness Grocery Store. Also, a real treat for foodies is the Sun Farms Restaurant. Thank you for sharing such a special home!!!

Amazing views and stay!

Great spot in Inverness, every detail seen to. Rachel was very prompt and helpful with all communication. Well stocked kitchen and beautiful linens as mentioned. Comfortable beds. Really enjoying sitting in the living room taking in the view, sunrises and sunsets. The deer and birds right outside the window! Only regret is we were so busy with family and friends we didn’t get enough time at the house. Truly relaxing special place!

Bliss Above the Bay

This house is an absolute fantastic get away for those wanting to explore Pt. Reyes and the Tomales Bay area. The homeowner is incredibly responsive, helpful and knowledgeable about the region. Lots of fun activities and areas to explore, especially if you enjoy hiking, the ocean and good food! The house is incredibly well appointed. Clean and has all the modern conveniences. The kitchen is a "cook's" kitchen - the home is beatifully decorated, inviting and comfortable. I would rent it again and give it FIVE stars. Enjoy your stay.

Great spot

Inverness is a great spot to unwind. The house has wonderful views from every room, deck and the yard. It sat in a great spot, as the fog would generally stop at the crest of the hill behind the house, leaving us with sunshine and views. The house is tastefully done and the kitchen well equipped. If you are considering renting it, I cannot say enough good things about it however you should know that it is really a 2.5 bedroom, since the third is really a small office or den with a pull out couch, and there is no gas grill, which is a significant minus. Also, only the master bedroom has blinds, the other two get early morning sun and make it difficult to sleep in, or so my college aged professional sleepers told me. These opportunities for improvement should not deter you from renting the house however. It really is a special place.

Beautiful Location to Explore and Unwind

Our family of 5 (including 3 children ages 6, 11, 14) stayed in Rachel's home while enjoying adventures in Point Reyes. The home itself is very welcoming - I had worried it might be less comfortable for children, but it was perfect. The home is stylish but approachable, with wonderful spaces that each member of our family enjoyed. We took advantage of the balcony off of the kitchen for coffee each morning, watched the sun rise and set from the deck off of the master, viewed deer and loads of birds through the panoramic windows in the living room - even the indoors allowed you to enjoy the outdoors. My children loved a chance to watch TV some mornings, the SONOS speakers were a great addition and the beds were fantastic. In addition to having everything we needed, the home is located in a great spot for exploring the area. We spent a lot of time hiking, but appreciated that it was close enough to enjoy some shopping/dining spots in Inverness, Point Reyes Station and Marshall. Rachel was extremely accommodating, responded to any question quickly and left wonderful instructions for enjoying her home and info on various activities/destinations nearby. Our stay here was perfect and we look forward to returning in the future. Highly recommended!

Beautiful home with scenic views of Tomales Bay

This is a stunning vacation home, tastefully furnished and decorated, with amazing views from every large window. The property matches the photos and description. The isolated hilltop location is surrounded by fruit trees and provides an opportunity to be close to wildlife (deer, foxes, raccoons etc) we don’t meet in city life. Here are a few comments to help in choosing this rental. It’s not clear from the description that this unit is on three floors, each with sleeping area, bath, and a private balcony. The main entry level has the living and dining area, well equipped kitchen (a microwave would be a welcome addition), and an entertainment room which doubles as third bedroom with a pull out sofa. Downstairs is a spacious master bedroom with glass walled bath, and upstairs is a second master bed/bath. As other visitors have noted, the upstairs bedroom has an open window over the living room, making this space not completely private. It’s also worth noting that the charm of the location is its remoteness. Access is up a very step narrow road and down a steeper driveway that may be a challenge for flat landers. Finally, the rental comes with a long list of rules, restrictions, and potential extra charges, more than the average vacation rental. I’m sure there are good reasons for most of the list but this may be everyone’s idea of a relaxing family get-away.

What a pleasure to enjoy such a beautiful (and well-equipped) home. The house has stunning views across Tomales Bay and is literally at the doorstep of the Pt Reyes National Seashore. Great for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities coupled with the comfort and ease of relaxing in such a lovely home. Beautiful Serenity

The house is wonderful, very clean, very organized and well stocked. The yard has trails and stairs to explore....the floral & fauna are beautiful. Deer regularly show up and hang out to be viewed from the decks and windows. We also saw a skunk on it's travels. The view of the bay is great and the shower / tub view is spectacular as well. Great place too stay, will be back.
