Leaning Pine: A Quiet Lakefront Cottage

(Permit: PSTR 24-043)
Charming Leaning Pine cottage on Bass Lake with sunset views, just minutes from Interlochen Center for the Arts. Two bedrooms. Sleeps two in the master and four in the guest or use our "bonus room" space. This home has been lovingly preserved and decorated to retain the 1950s lake cottage feel. Bass Lake is ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing, or just quiet reflection. Public boat launch is straight across from us. Nicely wooded lot for that true "up north" feeling. Traverse City, Old Mission/Leelanau wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Frankfort are each about a half-hour drive.

We've added a lovely bench swing that faces the lake, between two tall pines; sit there in the morning with coffee for a slow "wake-up" or in the evening with wine to enjoy the sunset.

"We really enjoyed our week at this rental. The lake is quiet and great for fishing and kayaking. With the row boat, kayaks, fishing poles and grill included you can start enjoying the lake and outdoors immediately. The lake is shallow and safe for kids and dogs to swim. The description and photos are exactly what you get, no dishonesty or deception. Everything was great." -Mark, Clarkston, MI

Wonderful!
Everything about Leaning Pine can be described as wonderful! The cabin, the property, the amenities, the view, the location. Our family enjoyed every minute! The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer. Thank you to the owners for allowing our family to enjoy such a beautiful and peaceful place. We all needed a peaceful break from the daily routine and this was perfect!

Relaxing Up North Lake Cottage
The house is exactly how it is described and shown online. We stayed for four nights - loved watching the sun set at night and rise in the morning. The outdoor picnic table was very appreciated as we ate all of our meals there. We loved the kayaks and my kids loved jumping off the dock. The fire pit was great to sit around at night. The kitchen is very well-stocked which we also appreciated. Sleeping Bear Dunes was only 40 minutes away; Traverse City was 30 min! Totally recommend this house!

I brought my family to this wonderful home after a summer session at Interlochen as a break before transitioning back to the high speed pace of the school year schedule. The home was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed rowing the boat on the beautiful lake, as well as the quiet surroundings. We will definitely return.

Relaxing and peaceful
Beautiful! This little lake in the woods is the perfect setting to escape from the everyday hustle and stress. Kayaking, swimming, fishing, and sunsets make for a perfect day and evenings around the campfire or playing boardgames on the deck keep the fun going into the night. The house is charming and comfortable with plenty of space for everyone and the stunning view of the lake from the living room make you feel like you are enjoying lake time even when you are indoors. The property was clean and well stocked and beds were comfortable. This is great location to get away while having access to amenities with a short drive of 30 minutes or less.

This place is comfy cozy!
Our family had a great 4 night stay at Leaning Pine. House is clean and amazingly decorated in mid century mod. We loved the decor! The neighborhood is quiet and secluded but still close to shopping. We found ourselves at Tom’s Grocery store a lot and just eating at the cottage every night. Lake views from home are amazing. We sat on the dock and watched the sunsets. Place is stocked with board games and puzzles. Rack-o and Sorry were our favorites! We used the wood burning fire place every night. This place is great for kids and is pet friendly. We plan on returning next year! Thanks for the great stay!

Lovely, peaceful, nostalgic
What a perfectly quintessential "Up North" lake cottage -- a gorgeous spot on a peaceful lake and a great mix of classic 50s nostalgia sprinkled with modern comforts. We left rested and rescharged after a couple of days of slowing the world down at this sweet little spot.

Great family getaway
Enjoyed fishing, kayaking, swimming off the dock. All three kids slept comfortably in the bunk bedroom. My daughters were delighted with the pink bathroom! The large windows gave wonderful views overlooking the lake. Furniture was comfortable with many seating options in the house and on the property. We took a day to visit sleeping bear dunes (only a 30 minute drive) but otherwise stayed at the house and enjoyed the lake. I was very satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness during our stay.

Sun, sand, starry skies and peaceful waters...ahhh. We relaxed and recharged from a hectic city summer every minute of our three-day stay here. Loved the retro feel and modern amenities of this comfortable, cozy, well-stocked and quiet home. Host was communicative and we appreciated the notes about nearby restaurants and attractions. Thank you for helping us make some great memories!

Lake Vacation
We had a wonderful stay at this cottage on Bass Lake. The cottage was clean and had a great sandy beachfront. We enjoyed using the rowboat and the raft. It was nice to have a cottage that would allow two dogs. They both had a great time playing fetch in the water. I would highly recommend renting this home if visiting the Interlochen area.

Quiet Lake Getaway near Traverse
Cozy Cottage with plenty of outdoor activities and places to take in the view on a quiet lake. Lived-in older home with newer bedding and towels. Perfect if you want peace and quiet but still be close to trails, lakes and Traverse city. Bathrooms are a bit awkward and maybe difficult if you have multiple families that need privacy. Dogs welcome. Bring your own water for drinking if you don’t like well water but otherwise kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. Responsive host.
