The Sanctuary 14 acres w/ private pond/trails in beautiful Brown County

Come and enjoy a getaway from the busy world to a quiet home in the woods. You can enjoy the large gathering room overlooking a beautiful pond that is surrounded by trees. Take a ride on the paddle boat and throw your fishing line in to catch catfish, bluegill, and wide mouth bass. Eleven acres of trails make for a nice nature walk. In the cold , you can enjoy your cup of coffee by the fireplace that's in the large room we call, The sanctuary. In the hot summers you will be able to go swimming in the pond. If you enjoy kayaking, we have a kayak you can take out and experience a relaxing time on the water. This is not just a vacation home but it is a vacation destination. This is a getaway for any seasons. The Brown County fall season is something everyone should experience and this the perfect property to take it all in.

Guests will enjoy staying at our place The Sanctuary. We have a beautiful house where each bedroom has its own bathroom. The gathering space is a great place to relax, look out the windows and door by the fire. Take your drinks outside to the large porch and deck. You can sit in a rocking chair or have dinner on the large table on the porch. We live close to a Dollar General. Nashville is a 10 minute drive and is full of shopping, eating and exploring.

Wow… if you are thinking about going to Brown Co, IN, you definitely want this place. The most clean place I’ve ever stayed. The whole setting was absolutely Perfect! Would definitely go back.

Family Christmas Gathering
We had a wonderful time at The Sanctuary celebrating Christmas with family. It was spacious and beautifully-decorated. The great room was perfect for gathering everyone together to open gifts and watch a Christmas movie. Mary and Josh were were great hosts and were quick to respond to any questions that we had. We would definitely stay there again.

The property is so beautiful and we all loved the house. There were 9 of us staying there and the house is very spacious with areas for toddler play time, card games, dining, a very nice kitchen and beautiful living room that has gorgeous views of the pond and woods. The boys had a great time fishing too. They caught blue gill, catfiish and we think a crappie. We all had a wonderful time.

The home and property were beautiful and exactly as listed. Plenty of space, well maintained with everything we needed for our stay. We truly felt like it was a great getaway place with plenty to inside and we totally enjoyed exploring the outside property. Owner was very accommodating with great communication. We would definitely recommend and absolutely go back for a second stay.

This home was a perfect fit for 8 long time friends to be together with the large living room, spacious kitchen and a wonderful porch with plenty of seating. Very clean and well cared for. The hosts were quick to respond to any questions. Highly recommend this rental!

Great Stay
Stayed March 2023. Property just as advertised, super clean, and lots of much appreciated technology for a remote area (Direct TV satellite + more, great wifi). Felt recently updated/renovated/addition. Very large - could easily accommodate a large 5-7 person family or 2-3 couples, though we enjoyed the extra space just for the 2 of us and our dog! Would highly recommend and stay again.

Amazing, Relaxing Weekend
Four friends and I decided that we needed a girls weekend and this home was the perfect place for it. With a ton of bedrooms and seating options at both the table and in the living room, we were able to hang out in comfort the whole weekend. The house was immaculate and the kitchen was well stocked allowing us to cook dinner and breakfast. We decided that this would become an annual tradition and we look forward to coming back again next year.

Awesome Weekend Getaway
Having an awesome time is an understatement. I cannot explain in words of how magnificent this property is. From fishing, kayaking, paddleboats, wrap around porch with lots of chairs, grilling, and a beautiful pond. The views are breathtaking. This was our first stay here, and it most certainly wont be our last. If you're in need of an awesome time, along with a weekend getaway, "The Sanctuary " is where it's at! The owner's are awesome as well. We didn’t get to meet them, but I felt like we did just through the VRBO messenger. Again thank you all so much for everything.

Beautiful property
The house and property is beautiful. We enjoyed fishing the pond and the pedal boat. The bedding and towels were clean and nice. I did contact the owner about the cleanliness of the home. The clean team are cutting a lot of corners. The owner lives out of town and was unaware. She was apologetic and said she would take care of it for the next renters! Otherwise we had a great time!!!

Peaceful and beautiful scenery!
Our stay at The Sanctuary was wonderful! There were seven of us and there was plenty of room. (Something to note, the bunk room beds are better suited for kids and not for adults with back problems). The sheets were soft and the beds were comfortable in the bedrooms with the big beds. There were plenty of bathrooms so no one had to wait to shower. With two sitting areas and a large dining area, there is plenty of room to visit, watch tv or play games. Lots of games are provided in case you forget to bring some. The kitchen has lots of dishes for eating and cooking and a nice grill outside. Outside is a generous front porch with rockers and a swing that make soaking up the sights and sounds of nature the best part of the day. Outside is a nice play area and at the ponds our group did lots of fishing and canoeing. There is a nice big fire pit. I would suggest bringing your own things for starting a fire. There is plenty of things for kindling but no way to cut it. There is a lighter and sticks to roast marshmallows provided. The hosts proved a wonderful basket with s’mores ingredients as well as syrup and pancake mix. We would come back to the Sanctuary 100%. This is a great place for family get togethers, small retreats, board gaming groups or girl’s weekends. You won’t be sorry!

Chance to Unplug
The Sanctuary was perfect for our family long weekend getaway. The 4 bedrooms and bathrooms allowed us to spread out and there were plenty of common spaces for playing games and relaxing together. The outdoor space is peaceful and the porch was used a lot for reading! It rained a great deal while we were here so we didn’t explore the trails. The home is close enough to Nashville for easy quick trips. This home has a wireless router, but we were never able to get WiFi and the cell phone service is very spotty at best. So, if you need to be connected, I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you want to unplug, this place mandates it :). Overall, it was clean. We could see that under the couches hadn’t been cleaned well (some Pieces of candy) and some of the utensils in drawers hadn’t been cleaned well. The checkout procedures do require more work than a typical rental in that you have to strip beds and put in laundry room, as well as start a load of towels. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of for your last morning. We would definitely recommend this stay if you are looking for a place with lots of land to play and a chance to get away!
