We had a great week!
Outside:
The home is situated on a somewhat protected area of Burt Lake, so we found the water to be calm most of the time we were there. The lake is shallow pretty far from shore, so if you have a very deep boat, just keep that in mind. Great for swimming with children. Pontoons and most boats should be no problem. Lake has a hard sand bottom, no rocks or weeds to be seen. There is a nice dock and the beach is nice and sandy, with some small stones washed up on shore (if you look, you will find Petoskey stones as well). We really were hoping for an off-shore anchor to be available. We didn't think there was one, but after we were there almost the entire week, we ended up finding it. The bouy marker must have came off and floated away.
We love this part of Michigan because you have access to so many lakes and rivers, all connected by deep and well marked channels. Make sure you head up the Crooked River and see the swing bridge in Alanson and also down the Indian River to see Mullet Lake, the Cheboygan River, the Locks, and everything. Very cool stuff all accessible by boat.
The yard is big enough but not crazy big, and you are a little close to the neighbors, not unusual for most lake front homes. The only reason I bring it up is because it is not the kind of yard you can play a football game in - just play in the lake.
House:
The house has everything you would need and has been updated nicely. The home faces west so the sunsets are amazing - but the home can warm up on hot afternoons so be sure to close the shades and leave the windows open. If you are able, you might want to bring a few fans as well. The beds are plentiful and very comfortable! We were surprised at how roomy the house felt. It does have 3 full bathrooms, 1 of which is part of the master suite. TVs had cable and smart functionality if you are interested in watching Netflix or something instead of enjoying the lake :).
Host:
Available for anything and willing to help! Thank you!
Things I might change:
Maybe move the checkout earlier and have the cleaning service do the bedding - or have two sets of everything and have the cleaning service take the bedding and towels offsite for cleaning on check-out/check-in day. The book that details the house rules and so forth requested that we do the laundry including the sheets before we left, which is difficult to get all of the beds and towels done in time by 11am. For the price, it seems like a big ask.
