Miner Street, lined with fabulous local restaurants / breweries, locally-owned boutiques. Idaho Springs is a small town with big personality, including mine tours, rafting trips, zip lining, hiking, Indian Hot Springs, family parks and more…

Not worth the cost
I would say that you get what you pay for, but this place was not worth the cost. There’s a very distinct propane smell outside, as well as a ton of junk. The sleeping accommodations were less than ideal with stained blankets, hearing everything the upstairs neighbors did, and the floor was preferable to the awful fold out couch. Close to st Mary’s trailhead.

Nice, pet friendly place!
Had a great time. The inside space was clean and had all the basics. For those who need it, BRING A HAIR DRYER! There is a washer/dryer, which was excellent for those rainy days and hiking clothes. We had a minor issue the first day with the toilet, but Brian was right on it, and all was well after. There is plenty of gravel parking and a small doggie area with a poo-bag station (a great little perk!). The property appears to be in some state of refurbishment, and building materials are scattered about. But we assume that is only temporary. The only minor complaint we have was the stairs, which are the outdoor steel grates. Not a biggie for humans, but the pups had to be carried up and down. It looks like there used to be rugs attached, but they have since been removed/fallen off. Not a deal-breaker for us, but if you have a big dog, it's a bit of a haul. The condo is only 1/3mile from St. Mary's glacier trail, which used to be an old ski resort (google search for a bit of history). At the base, it's a mile up and back; worth it no matter your skill level, and dog friendly.

Beautiful Views!
Quaint condo with a chalet feel, nestled in the mountaintop, beautiful scenic views from all windows. Very relaxing and quiet, enjoyed our stay! Property manager Bryan was very accommodating and highly responsive. Note...I am grateful that I rented a 4wd truck as it was snowing when we arrived, plus snow already on the ground, and the property is at the top of a very steep incline with several sharp turns.

Sweet condo in the woods
This condo is definitely very clean; with an extremely accurate listing. Quiet environment in the center of nature. Best way to contact the owner is via Vrbo messaging - he answered quickly. Lovely place in the wilderness. A couple things I want to emphasize (included in the listing): 4WD or AWD is a must in the winter. We would have be sunk without it. Also, if you are not used to altitude, you should not stay at 10,000 ft. Sleeping lower helps your body acclimate when you live at sea level like we do. It can be done, it just isn’t very comfortable. :)

10 min walk from the trailhead
The unit was definitely bigger than a typical studio. Kitchen has most utensils but not much of anything else. if you plan to cook, please bring your own spices and ingredients. Bathroom was well stocked with shampoo, body wash, lotion, facial tissues. The balcony was not private as it served as a part of the stairway from the unit above. The views are good. You do see the mountains and vistas far out. This place is almost 20 mins away from Idaho Springs and quite at an altitude. 10K+ feet. So the weather would be significantly different from Idaho Springs. Plan accordingly. Fall River road is fine all weather. We went in December during peak snow and it was plowed regularly but it helps having a FWD / AWD vehicle. Note: the parking area in front of the unit is not plowed and can get a lot of deep snow. So plan accordingly. Best park was access to the St Mary's Glacier trail head just 10 mins walk from the unit. Overall a pretty good place to stay if you want to stay away from hustle and bustle and closer to nature. Will not mind staying again.

An ok place
The place is ok - cool drive up and cool views. It was clean and well-stocked. There was a really bad smell of propane that affected us physically and caused us to stay elsewhere. The property manager was responsive at first (claimed it was a drain smell but it clearly wasn’t), and after some persistence with him, he made it right with us, which was appreciated.

ST Mary's getaway
Overall our experience was great. This was just what we needed. The location is a amazing, ST Mary's has so much to offer when it comes to hiking, fishing and ATV's. The only downside to this condo is that you are on the 2nd floor, sandwiched between the 1st and 3rd. The floors and ceilings are thin and noise definitely travels up and down.

Disappointed
We had hoped this would be a quiet place to recharge. Unfortunately, We could hear everything in the upstairs apartment, plus every time they came by our room, when we were trying to sleep, they were quite noisy. Also, there was a wolf/dog, that howled, Periodically through the night. The owner left it chained up to a trailer that was parked on the property. I tried to clean before we left, but unfortunately, the vacuum was totally plugged. We cleaned it out the best we could, but still could not get suction. I generally do not write such a harsh review, but after several short nights of sleep, feel the need to express our issues. Generally it was clean and it could have been a pleasant place to stay if not for the above.

Great for couples, maybe not a family.
The property manager was very responsive however this listing missed the mark for us. Some of the other tenants of the building we're acting out and he addressed the issue. We did have other issues. The laundry was not available, the machine would not turn on. The listing showed Dish TV as well as WIFI. There was no Dish available and the WIFI also did not connect to the TV. I think this was due to the power outages and snow storms coming in. There were no lights working on the stairs which made for unsafe conditions for a family with a small child. There was also not adequate bedding for the pull out couch, just a comforter and top sheet. This listing would be great for a couple looking for a more rustic stay. It should include that in winter seasons 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicles may be needed to travel safely up the mountain.

New St. Mary's Unit B
Check-in was simple and communication with Bryan was easy - he answered the phone quickly when we had a question about the parking pass upon arrival. The location was great - easy access (within walking distance) to St. Mary's Glacier and a short drive to many other hiking trails. A coffee hut was just across the street and the owners were friendly (remembered our names after our first visit) and made great coffee. Some things to be aware of - we could hear muffled conversation from the unit above us and the resident dog(s) would bark in the middle of the night. The barking would not last long, but it did occur every night. No parking pass or local guide inside as promised. (The guide could be due to covid 19.) Bryan assured us the parking pass would not be an issue, although we did have some concern we might be towed. It was not clear what to do with trash before leaving - the instructions said "place between our parking spot and river" (no river near the property...) That said, it had everything we needed for a home base near numerous hiking trails and we would recommend it.

St. Mary's Condo
We enjoyed our stay in St. Mary's. The unit itself was clean, though needed some updating. The dryer of the stacked washer/dryer switch was broken. I contacted Brian, of the management company on our second day there. I had washed a load of clothes, and didn't realize that there was no way to turn on the dryer. He told me that he would contact his appliance person and get back to me. I never heard back from him. I believe that the unit is 1 of a 4 part condo. I think that 2 of the units have permanent residents, and the other 2 are rented through VRBO. The outside of the condo is filthy. There is trash and litter scattered around the building - an old washing machine, trash, cardboard boxes, etc. There is animal feces all over the side yard where we needed to take our dogs to use the bathroom (we picked up after our dogs). This would be a wonderful place to stay if the outside area would be cleaned up, and the dryer would be repaired.

Wonderful, quiet location except during the night.
The cool, fresh mountain air was wonderful. The condo was the perfect size...clean, fairly open, roomy. Replacement knobs on the dryer would have been a plus instead of using a pilers. The biggest issue was the six dogs that lived in the front two condos. They woke us up two to four times each night with their crazy barking. Apparently a brown bear had decided to go up on the deck of the one condos which caused the three German Shepard’s to bark incisively. So, if you love nature and hiking plus dogs and wildlife this is the perfect spot. Also, not far from Idaho Springs if shopping or dining out is your thing.
