Luxury Cabin mins to Raystown Lake; Firepit, Basketball Court, Arcade

The Sugar Maple Chalet is 7 minutes away from Raystown Lake. This home was designed for you and your large group to stay!! It has a fire pit, basketball court, grill, and an arcade with over 3,000 games!

Whether you like to be at the lake or in the mountains enjoying the views, this is a win-win property. Go boating, hiking, mountain biking, hunting on the federal grounds, to a Penn State game, to a lake beach, water park, or gather with a large group of friends/family!! This home is perfectly designed for an extended family reunion, baby shower, church retreat, anything but a wild party :)

The Sugar Maple Chalet has something for every season and age group!! Sit outside on the large deck and watch an amazing sunrise as you sip your coffee or snuggle up inside or outdoors by the fire pit. Have a huge meal together around the handrafted wooden dinning room table that seats 12. There is a ton of space to prepare and enjoy a meal.

Raystown Lake and Seven Points Marina is 10 minutes away down the mountain! Bring your boat and trailer! Our home has plenty of parking!! Or rent a boat, wave runner, or kayak. Raystown Lake is unique in that it is 28 miles of lake (8,300 acres) to to explore!! It is surrounded by Federal Game Land, all preserved in its natural habitat. This means no homes on Raystown Lake have private access to the water. Our home is great that it is still very close to the lake! Be sure to be on the lookout for American eagles in the tree tops looking for fish in the early morning or soaring on the thermals in the afternoon!! The deer love to come for early morning lake drinks. We have seen otters and beavers play in the waters edge. There are two beach areas on the lake, two restaurants to dock the boat and get something to eat or get gas for the boat right on the water. Also, many little private coves and areas to explore!

We take pride in our home, and want you to feel at home when you are our guest. We take cleanliness seriously and will do our best to make sure everything is perfect for your vacation. We provide more so you can pack less: linens, blankets, sheets, towels, hands towels, dish soaps, dish towels, a full stocked gourmet kitchen, refrigerator, and games for the kids (and adults). If there’s a problem, let us know and we will resolve it. We can help you to navigate your trip, make recommendations for eating out and things to do, and will be responsive to your needs.

Comcast wireless internet is provided at the home, 2 smart tvs, and a washer and dryer is yours to use as well.

Main floor that has a flight of stairs to get to, contains the kitchen, dining room, living room, 1/2 bath with laundry room and the master bedroom with ensuite full bathroom.

Great Weekend in the Woods
The Chalet is a beautiful lodge. Plenty of space and great privacy. Fire pit is awesome and the stars were beautiful. Lots of wildlife to see too. Marked walking trails would be a great addition for the future.

Exceptional Experience
The property was immaculate and comfortably accommodated our group of 10. The instructions were thorough and provided for ease in the arrival and departure procedures. I highly recommend this property for the avid outdoorsman or a stay for events at Penn State.

Perfect house for extended/large families
Very nice, clean, well designed, large, family friendly chalet at the end of a private driveway in the woods, three levels, with bedrooms and bathrooms on each level which made it a perfect stay for several adult couples/families. We were allowed to bring our dogs who loved it there too. The only comment I would make is that there was no glassware, so if you like a glass of wine with dinner, bring your own! Perfect stay, thank you!

Extended family retreat
Beautiful and scenic location for a family weekend getaway. Easily accessible to Raystown lake beach. House had everything we needed with the exception of propane. Would be helpful to include in listing that tanks are empty upon arrival. Otherwise the house was perfect.

Very nice place
Very nice house with lots of room and very private location. Close to town and the marina's. Deck is very large with great furniture inside and out. Fire pit was nice although that area wasn't as large as it looks in the picture. Wasn't pleased with the extra fees added once you looked at the actual price (the listing showed an amount that was nearly doubled after fees). Had to purchase damage insurance in addition to the damage deposit hold which I've never had to do before. We didn't receive any check in instructions - had to find where to turn on the water and water heater but not a big deal.

House is exactly what the photos show
Michael is very responsive, before booking I had questions which he awnsered immediately. During our stay there was concern with the propane tank and he got us another if needed. The house was great, large covered deck for sitting outside in the rain. Plenty of beds and couches. I would not hesitate staying at one of his property's again. The only reason I did not give a 5 out of 5 is because the one couch seemed to be leaning back permanently on the one side and the grill one side table was broken so you could not put anything down on that side. Both items still function as the should, just not perfect and those were the only reasons the score wasn't perfect. Thank you for the hospitality Michael!

Beautiful house
This house was beautiful. There were plenty of places for our guests to sleep & play, and the workmanship inside of the house was gorgeous. The stink bugs were unreal. We were flushing or vacuuming a minimum of 30/hour. Especially the first 24 hours we were at the house, it took away from some of the games & entertaining we were doing because guests were flinching at stink bugs falling in their drinks and appearing on their shoulders. It would have been ideal if these were at least swept up before our arrival. I completely understand that these bugs are unavoidable in this area, but I think proactivity would've helped the situation. Additionally, the hill to get up to the cabin was a bit rough as it is all stone - this is something to be aware of, especially depending on the time of year. Overall, it was a great house with a beautiful interior and nice set-up for large groups.

Family vacation
Our family is still talking about our Raystown Lake vacation. The Sugar Maple chalet is absolutely gorgeous---the construction is awesome and the furnishing and all the decorating details are pretty amazing. We had a blast at the nearby Lake Raystown resort waterpark, which is very reasonably priced and has something for everyone (adults and kids). We also loved the beach and the park, which is not far. The wrap-around porch was our favorite place to congregate---the grandkids ate out there every evening while the adults gathered around the gorgeous big table (benches were a great feature---more room for seating). The kids also loved playing on the porch while the adults hung out on the many choices of seating. We even set up a tent on the porch for play, and coffee on the wicker furniture was the best! At night the crickets and cicadas made wonderful noises while we sat out there and relished the peacefulness. The built in gates for the stairwells were super for keeping our 1 year old crawler safe. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped--nothing we needed was missing, except that refrigerator and freezer space was tight for a group the size of our family. Other places we have rented have had a second refrigerator which would have been a huge plus. It is also a pain to bring all the linens, and the cleaning fee of $600 we felt was excessive given that we treated this house as our own and left it pretty clean.

Disappointed Stay, Not Luxurious At All. Do Not Recommend
Sofas in living room need replacing. Online listing does not show peeling of leather sofas and the frames are loose. Coffee maker not working from Day 1. Owner contacted and replied that he was aware that coffee maker wasn't working but hadn't replaced yet. I requested someone bring new coffee maker. Local cleaning lady was apparently ill, so someone in our family had to go and get new coffee maker. Found dirty socks and tissues in downstairs bedroom when making up the bed. Sent pic to owner. The kitchen was filthy and not well stocked. Crumbs and such in every kitchen drawer. Our group had to run dishwasher after every meal in order to have enough dinnerware for next meal. Majority of "glassware" was plastic and some were warped. We were provided one grungy drab dish towel. Placemats were stained, hot pads were too dirty to consider touching. The outdoor grill was appalling and the guys spent a good 1/2h cleaning. Lastly, be aware that the thermostat is locked so that you cannot turn AC temp below 70°. This information is not in the listing. This cabin comes with premium pricing but the cabin cleanliness, furnishings and accessories are well below par.

Perfect getaway!
This house was the perfect place to celebrate my husbands birthday with his family. 8 Adults, 5 rowdy boys (8 - 14), 3 dogs, and there was still space. The house had the most stocked kitchen our family has ever experienced in a rental. The beds were pretty comfortable and the firepit was a centerpiece for our nights. We were able to get out our telescope and see Jupiter and Saturn. It's pretty close to the Allegrippis mountain bike and hiking trails. We packed a lot into a weekend and had a blast.

A great getaway in the woods!
Can't say enough about how perfect this trip was for my group of friends. We stayed for 3 nights over New Year's weekend. The location was exactly what we wanted- just remote enough that the only sounds were wildlife (and the occasional hunter at work off in the distance), but close enough to town that a trip for any missing necessities was easy. Plenty of bedrooms, fast wifi, and LOTS of space including a lower level with a TV which was perfect for providing multiple activities like videogames and New Year's Eve broadcasts/sports in tandem with the main upstairs TV. Our hosts provided instructions to make check-in and check-out easy, including detailed driving directions. Thanks for hosting us!

Great cabin and very clean. Bringing your own sheets is different but not a big deal. At least you know you’re sleeping on clean sheets. The fire pit is nice and a great place to hang out. Close enough access to stores etc if needed but secluded location feeling at the cabin. I would recommend anyone stay here if you’re looking for a place near Raystown. We didn’t boat during the stay but there’s lots of parking if you decide to bring one. An overall great stay and weekend.
