6 Clock Row, Thornham, Norfolk

Located in the coastal village of Thornham, 6 Clock Row is a charming example of a traditional brick and flint Norfolk cottage. Situated just off the main road and with lovely gardens, this little hideaway is perfect for walkers, beach-goers, birdwatchers, nature lovers, cyclist, sailors, and those who simply love to explore this magnificent part of Norfolk.

Exuding cosiness, the sitting room features plenty of comfy seating and an open fire which provides extra warmth and emits ambient light on chillier evenings. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything that guests need to comfortably cater at home. Plan the day ahead over a morning cuppa or gather to share some deliciously prepared local produce around the farmhouse table in the dining area. Upstairs, the master bedroom hosts a double bed, and there is a cot for young guests. With a bunk bed provided in bedroom two, 6 Clock Row is a great family friendly property. A good-sized family bathroom offering bath with shower over completes the accommodation. Outside to the front, there is a lovely garden with a summerhouse separated from the front door by the parking area. An enclosed courtyard area is at the rear of the property boasting an outside wet room, which is ideal for hosing down dogs (or children!) after a trip to the beach.

Located in the middle of the village, 6 Clock Row boasts some wonderful places to eat right on the doorstep; a four minute walk away is the award-winning gastropub The Orange Tree, 12 minutes walk away, The Thornham Deli offers great breakfasts and relaxed dining, 20 minutes walk or two minutes away by car there is a selection of eateries at the Drove Orchards, including superb fish and chips or pizza at Eric's. Walkers and birdwatchers are spoilt for choice with the North Norfolk coastal path and Peddar's Way moments away, and RSPB Titchwell Reserve a short drive away. Thornham also has its own beautiful, often deserted, wide expanse of sandy beach which is waiting to be discovered. The expansive beach at Brancaster with its resident colony of seals is a mere ten minute drive way. The Coasthopper bus stops in the village, making it easy to get anywhere along the coast.

Good value, great location.
The cottage was good value for money compared to other similar properties nearby and it’s in a great location. It was warm and comfortable and spacious enough for 2 of us with the dog. The decor and furniture are a bit dated but the Wi-Fi, tv and kitchen appliances were fine for us. Overall if you’re looking for somewhere suitable for a couple/family and dog, close to the beach, pubs and the deli for a decent price and you’re not fussed about a dated interior then this is for you.
Stayed 7 nights in Oct 2022

Great place to stay
Fantastic location with everything you could wish for close by. The cottage was lovely and warm with off road parking. The only thing I could fault was the cooker, we couldn’t get the main oven to work.

Nicely located. Bit shabby decoration wise and outdated. The rooms could do with a bit of updating, not too much as you would lose the intrinsic charm. Storage heaters are dreadfully dated and proper central heating put in; just looked shabby.

Wonderful stay
The Perfect cottage for exploring the north Norfolk coast. Easy access to the coast path and endless sandy beaches. A cosy cottage with enclosed court yard and garden set back from the road so very dog or child friendly. Three good pubs a deli and fish and chip restaurant on the door step. A short drive to Sandringham or holkham Hall for days away from the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are sure to book again.

6 ClockRow, Thornham, Norfolk.Comfortable
Comfortable, charming cottage in a delightful setting. Not suitable for very tall people in the baths Room. Could benefit from a bar on the bath wall to aid entry into the shower and security for older people when showering. Loved the lawned area and the garden room. Had a really enjoyable stay.

Basic holiday cottage
Adequate fairly basic cottage in a good location near 3 pubs and excellent fish and chip shop. Bit lacking in basic supplies ie cloths, tea towel, hand soap and basic cleaning materials.

6/10 Okay

Would not recommend due to many issues. Location is good.
Unfortunately this cottage (6 Clock Row, Thornham) didn’t meet the standards of other cottages we have stayed in before in Thornham, especially for the fairly high price paid. Stayed for a week in March 2018. Negatives: There were low windows which were easy to open (no locks). This was not safe for a toddler. Low ceiling into back bedroom, husband hit his head several times. Dangerous bunk bed in back bedroom which rocks side to side, personally would not let any child on it. Dangerous, old looking cot, would not pass any health and safety test. Very unstable with pins and chains fixings. Didn’t use as had own cot. There should be warnings in the description of the cottage for the above points. Bed in big room is extremely soft and is therefore very uncomfortable. Steep stairs, should have safety gate if allowing young children to stay. Storage heaters not very good and have been set very low. During a very cold spell staying here the cottage was very very cold. Blankets were available. There is a log fire but unsure how to use or if it is safe. Positives: Fantastic location for North Norfolk coast, Titchwell RSPB, Cley Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Holme Norfolk Wildlife Trust and Holkham Hall. Big kitchen and dining room. Cottage was clean. Norfolk Hideways were friendly and helpful when booking the cottage. I’m not sure how often they check their cottages, but maybe this particular cottage should be reviewed by Norfolk Hideaways. Would not recommend especially families with young children.

1 Week Stay
Although the area is lovely, and the cottage itself was fine, there was a lack of 'care'. For example, there were no spare bin bags, there was no way to recycle any rubbish, the cooker had a broken door held together with tape, there was no vacuum cleaner and no cleaning products. The furniture was practical, but uncomfortable. Although we had a lovely holiday, the cottage is certainly not 'value for money'

Average cottage. At best 3 out of 5.
Positives: Location. Excellent wifi (when we got it going - it had been disconnected). Reasonably well equipped. Log fire a real bonus as weather was chilly (and a good supply of logs provided). Plenty of room. Reasonably comfortable. Convenient off-street parking. Negatives: Smelled very strongly of dogs when we arrived. Some furniture tired and/or poor quality and in need of replacement. Could do with redecoration throughout. Shower over bath a little awkward.
