Our sea front home is located in the south part of the very quaint, friendly and safe Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins. It has excellent views of the sea, sunrises and the Cayes from the 300 sq ft balcony.
During the week, the village tends to be fairly quiet ( except for the occasional rooster!) while on weekends the the area comes alive with music and activity.
The house has an open design, with vaulted, cathedral, tropical hardwood ceilings and large windows to maximize the Caribbean Sea breeze. Both bedrooms have split air conditioner units. With one queen bed, two twin beds ( which can be converted to a king bed) and a full futon in the living room, Casita Del Mar will comfortably sleep five-six people. Ceiling fans in each bedroom and two in the main living space give you alternatives for air flow.
A multi-filter system provides drinking water to both kitchen and bathroom allowing our guests easy access to unlimited fresh water.
There is a safe in the house where you can keep small valuables and documents so that you can relax worry-free on the beach.
Our one neighbour is away working in the States most of the time while the other is a friendly, elder woman of the village who keeps to herself but always has a moment to wave or say hello.
A short walk will get you to local grocery stores and a variety of restaurants. The beach is sandy, the water is 83 F and the Cayes, for snorkeling or diving, are only 5 miles out. Tired after swimming all morning? Relax in a hammock in the shade on the deck. Or check out the many adventure tours offered in the village from zip lining to cave exploration. Something for everyone.
Laundry facilities are available minutes away on the main street. Internet services are also available.
Our Property Manager, Cheryl, co-owns a popular local tour company and is ready to meet any of your adventure needs during your stay.
We do offer discounts for weekly (7 nights or more) stays. When you enter your dates, the site will calculate the discount for you!
Casita del Mar is registered and licensed with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB).
