Stopover with Great Breakfast.
We needed somewhere to stay within a couple of hours from Calais and Honfleur was the perfect spot. The hotel was easy to find, less than 1km from the beautiful port area. We had a family suite with two rooms and a shower /toilet leading from the single-bedded area. Room was a bit dark and slightly shabby but comfortable, with plenty of room for our large dog. Easy parking directly outside. No restaurant, but who needs one with hundreds to choose from in Honfleur itself, where the view is far better. Breakfast was glorious! A buffet, but good coffee, fresh croissants and baguettes, freshly squeezed orange juice, cold meats, cheese and best of all for my boys, sponge cake and Normandy apple tart. Delicious. We enjoyed the 15 minute walk into Honfleur, especially early in the morning, before the crowds arrived.

An inexpensive hotel close to heart of Honfleur
Very very basic hotel. A short walk for all the tourist attractions. Hot water is more like lukewarm. Mattress was lumpy. I was there for only one night and only needs a place to sleep, so it was alight. If you are going to arrive late, do call ahead. No one is at front desk after 8?

Great breakfast
The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of options. It suited us perfectly as it was a stroll into town. Parts of the hotel could do with updating.

Quaint. Hearty breakfast. And beautiful Honfleur..
Close to Honfleur, so beautiful, and less than 50 miles from Omaha Beach and Colleville American Cemetary, so moving. Unfortunately the hotel does not do restaurant any longer.

Charming, genuine auberge
When booking we had not realised the hotel was so far out of Honfleur as we were on foot, but we did enjoy the walk along the wide tree lined road. We enjoyed the breakfasts, (when we found out what to do!); coffee and hot water and warm milk and use of fridge. Our room was charmingly decorated, comfortable be, etc. and we were able to laugh about the rather quirky plumbing. We really enjoyed our stay.

Cheap and handy for the delights of Honfleur
The hotel is rather tired and in need of renovation, but it is competitively priced and the breakfast is excellent. We don't like blankets (would rather have a duvet), so we were a little cold in the night - something we could have rectified if we had switched the heating up a bit.

Motel Style out of town.
Not really a hotel but a motel with self catering facilities. Advertised as having a restaurant but only for breakfast, not for dinner unless a party of 10 or more. Window box outside our room was growing cigarette butts instead of flowers; chairs for outside use were somewhat rusty.

We only stayed one night to see Honfleur, but we were made very welcome and given all the information we required. The room was small but contained everything we needed.

Great location!
We found this a great place to stay for an overnight stop en-route to Brittany. Only 10 minutes walk to the centre of Honfleur. Having booked a 4 bedded room for ourselves and 2 children, we were delighted to be allocated a 2 bedroom unit with parking outside the front door. The rooms were basic, but very clean and comfortable. There was a good selection at breakfast.

Should I stay or should I go?
The hotel had an acceptable aspect on a main road into Honfleur (town centre an easy one mile walk down the road). The room we were assigned was small, wholly dominated by twin coffin-like beds and had a small bathroom. It was very dark with minimal lighting. Well, OK. The room also had peeling and bubbling wallpaper on clearly damp areas and a strong damp smell. Incredibly it only had a lace curtain (with a guest walkway immediately outside the window), which would afforded no privacy in the evening. Neither did it have anything like sufficient storage space - a small alcove with a concertina door (not big enough to be designated "wardrobe") was all that was provided. There was no space for luggage or other belongings. I have had some previous experience in roughing it. I have slept in sleeping bags on floors; on floors without sleeping bag; and once in the boot of a car. I have stayed in many student flops more presentable than this hotel and potential guests should be aware of its shortcomings. A level of our dissatisfaction can be measured. We arrived in high season and immediately set to look for other suitable accomodation, but there was nothing available within our budget. So we had a decision to make; should we stick it out in Honfleur, or go back to England and do something else? We had an excellent lunch in town and caught the 5.00 pm ferry out of Dodge.

Hotel Auberge de la Claire it was just not clean
We were shown our room , it literally smelt dusty and smoky so we declined and were offered another room that actually smelt more, simply not cleaned and not aired and not acceptable We stayed elsewhere

Great place, but alittle out of the main city
We had hard time finding the hotel because it was futher away from the city than I thought. We had to drive to the enchanting city instead of walking. The hotel was clean and we would stay there again, but just remember: its NOT in town.
