1 Bed 17th Century Stone Cottage in Rural Devon
Discover the charm of Ash Cottage – a cozy riverside retreat with character and a real log burner with the option of hiring a hot tub on site; additional free apply. This well-presented, one-bedroom gem offers a comfortable double bed with space for a travel cot.
In the spacious shower room you'll find Baylis and Harding's hand soap, Cole and Lewis amenities, and the delightful scent of Faith in Nature's Lavender & Geranium. Bath towels are included, you can upgrade to bath sheets, upon request.
The fully-equipped kitchen awaits your culinary adventures, featuring a fridge/freezer, oven, kettle, toaster, and microwave.
The lounge, complete with a log burner, offers a romantic ambiance with a smart flat-screen TV, DVD player, games and books.
Reliable and fast Starlink Wi-Fi is now included for 2024!
Settle in and enjoy Ash Cottage, where two small steps welcomes you inside to a seamlessly laid out, all-on-one-level haven.
Outside, the Cottage is situated on the entrance of our small holding of 11.5 acres with a lot to explore such as the pond with its extensive wildlife, the river and farm animals who love to say hello! Plus, we are only 7 miles away from the award winning Summerleaze Beach, Bude with its golden sand, popular with families and surfers alike and, not forgetting the saltwater rock pool which provides a safe swimming space.
Children's play area and Recreation Areas
At the bottom of the courtyard leads to our area of tranquillity and the pretty gardens with an array of colour during the seasons. This area includes an orchard, children's play area, sheep and lamb paddocks, pig pens and undercover seating area for relaxation and enjoyment. Come and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the birds play or a cup of tea while Taylor (our pig) eats his breakfast! There are a number of spots around where we encourage you to enjoy a BBQ or, if you wish to be closer to your cottage, you can BBQ right outside.
You are welcome to stroll through the orchard down towards the River Tamar where our guests have access to over 400 yards of fishing. The idyllic river setting with peace and quiet allows some good fishing, fish include Trout, Roach, Grayling and in late autumn Salmon returning to spawn. If you have the patience and the time is right, you can see Red and Roe deer, birds of prey soaring in the thermals, kingfishers sweeping and darting along the river, and majestic otters playing. Why not pack a picnic to take down to the river for the day, we have a picnic bench and, if the mood takes you, you could just sit and engross yourself with a good book by the river bank. Plus, when the river is low, kids can safely explore the water, finding treasures at the bottom, making rope swings and attempting to make rafts by foraging for the leftover wood. Our woodland walk is great for explorers of all ages, just don't forget your welly boots!
Water fun!
During your stay you will also have access to a shared heated pool (5 meters long, 1.1 meters deep) The pool is situated on a deck overlooking the gardens where you’ll also find a table and chairs, if you want to take a break from all the splashing! (The pool is seasonal and opens from April - October; weather dependant). We hire the pool by the hour at a rate of £15ph. When it is booked, it is for your cottage's private use.
On a clear night why not try stargazing in one of our two bubbly hot tubs available on site for hire, we have zero light pollution which means you can immerse yourself into the massaging effect of the bubbles whilst the steam clears your stress away!
We operate the hot tubs on a first come, first served basis. You will need to contact us to confirm availability for the duration of your stay and, we recommend you do this prior to booking, if the hot tub is a priority for you.
We appreciate the amenities may not appeal to everyone so we have decided not to include their facility into the price of your stay, therefore additional charges apply for their use.
Cost: Every new guest will have a clean, freshly filled and heated hot tub ready for arrival. Due to this, we hire out the hot tubs on a per stay basis at the rate of £30 per day, i.e. if you book 3 nights and wish to hire the hot tub; the cost will be £90. Please note, for shorter stays, there is a minimum charge of £75 for the hot tub.
Please ensure you pre book the amenities prior to arrival.
We allow one well behaved dog in your cottage which is also allowed to access the land. We ask for dogs to be kept on a lead except in the designated walking areas. Our own Labrador is very friendly!
The focus here at Wild Wanderers is to connect with each other through fun and nature. Creating unforgettable memories through exciting adventures and interactions is our main aim. We encourage exploration and making exciting discoveries with our woodland walk, gardens and river frontage. Come and find out what memories you will take home at our rejuvenating riverside retreat!
