REVIEWS
"The BVW rental was the perfect getaway before the end of the summer. It was the best location to Lake Michigan (you really can't beat it!) and it was very cute. It's definitely a mini condo, which was perfect for the small group. Our stay was magical. I will be renting again!"

"We absolutely loved our stay at this private getaway! The home's rustic charm is even more beautiful in person than the photos portray. It felt secluded enough to give us the peace and quiet we sought, yet it was conveniently close to everything we needed. The easy access to the private beach was a real treat and made our stay all the more special. We highly recommend booking this place for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. We hope to be back soon"

Good value in a great location!
We were happy with the location of the cottage. The private beach was perfect - we had great weather and the lake water temp was warm. The steep staircase leading to the beach did not bother us because we had older kids but it can be an issue for senior citizens and families with young kids like other reviewers mentioned. The house was very clean, well equipped and maintained. AC and the ceiling fan worked well. Outside deck and fire pit were awesome, and string lights added a fun effect. The neighborhood was beautiful with jogging tracks along Lake Shore Drive and lots of shade/trees. The only reason we rated 4 stars was the inconvenience created by one bathroom and a very small shower. Suggest a newer shower curtain and grilling tools (grill was clean but we did not find tools). Overall - an enjoyable stay and amazing beach experience!

Small, but sweet
The house is 600 square feet, which is pretty tiny, but it was well appointed (sans dishwasher). It's very well decorated in a stylish, functional way. The outdoor space (fire pit in particular) was key to our visit. We had great weather--it would definitely be tight in the house if it rained. The property management team was very responsive. We discovered on the first night that the outdoor string lights weren't working and they sent someone right away to replace them. Thank you! Access to the beach was great (a very short walk). I'd like to point out that the house is part of an Association and the other members/beachgoers are keyed in to who's visiting since it is private property. We were chastised the first day for sitting in the "wrong" spot, so it might be helpful to point out where the Lake Court Association has access and to which chairs, etc. Other than the weekend day, the beach was very secluded with very few people. Gorgeous sunsets!

Great long weekend get away
We were very impressed with the cleanliness and decor of the cottage - super cute!. It was very well stocked with the essentials. The cottage had chairs on the beach, which was very helpful. The front screened in porch was perfect for card games at night bug free! You are a short walk to the lake, but the walk includes a large hill and 75+ steep steps to the beach, which is not ideal for small kids or elderly individuals. Another downfall is the very small shower .. if you are a tall or larger person, you won't fit! Overall, my family enjoyed their long weekend get away!

If you want to rent this property, use the BVW Property website to book, not HomeAway.
HomeAway’s messaging does not work. You’ll have to call BVW directly. HomeAway has no ability to shorten or lengthen your stay. We shortened our stay, but HomeAway still billed us for the full amount. We are still trying to get the correct amount that BVW says they refunded to us back from HomeAway. HomeAway charged us over $200 for their services which were nonexistent. I think it’s better to just use BVW Properties website. It was a great vacation, but now I have the hassle of trying to deal with HomeAway. I tried to straighten this out before we left, and HomeAway said they would research it and get back to me, and they never did.

Cute place
For the most part, this place was a great place to stay! One thing is that it is close to Lakeshore Drive which can be loud and busy with traffic. There was also some construction on a house next door and one morning some of the workers and deliveries were very loud. Also, without a dishwasher, there should be more dish towels/dish clothes and a dish rack for drying (I looked high and low as another comment was made about the towels but I only found one towel and one dishcloth). You could go with paper products to make it easier I guess. Also I think it would be tight with six people. It was perfect for me and my two youngest kids. Also, maybe some place to lock up bike?. I felt very safe but there are lots of people along the trails that are only a few yards away from the back porch. But overall close to Tunnel Park and the State Park. Lots of great biking, walking and running trails.

Good location - home missing some basic needs
We stayed for 3 nights. Home has been updated nicely. Laminate floors, nice furniture, nice washer/dryer (a few tide pods were supplied). The screen room was great since it was so rainy during our stay. The best thing this house has going for it is the location - you have to walk up a fairly steep but short hill to then get to the tiered steps leading to the beach. The beach itself is nice (very natural). The homes is off a rather busy street. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is due to the following negatives: The owner (or perhaps management co?) required a very hefty security deposit (my only other option was to pay the smaller non-refundable insurance which I decided to do - didn't want to run the risk of trying to debate them to get my deposit back should some have gone wrong in their eyes). We have rented several homes throughout the years and never had to put this much down. This was very offputting but we were limited in our choices as we booked very late for this trip. Secondly, there were a lot of small things that the cottage needed: 1) A light over the table inside - was almost too dark to play certain games indoors at night as the only other lighting was from the overhead fan at the top of the peak of the roof or the lights over the counter 2) They only have one mirror in the entire cottage and that is in the room with the toilet/sink (the shower is in a separate room which was helpful so someone could be showering while another was using the bathroom) - why not have mirrors in each bedroom? I had 3 teenager daughters with me all vying for the one small mirror, 3) no hand towels in the cottage nor a towel holder in the bathroom (other than a stick-up hook from which nothing would hang), 4) No larger bowls - had planned to make pancakes and had nothing but cereal bowls to use, 5) no dish towels, 6) No sugar/creamer for the coffee - had some coffee which I suspected a past guest had left - all other rentals we have had provided something akin to a coffee bar, with coffee, creamers, sugars, tea, etc. - 7) no lock on one of the bathroom doors - the bathroom with the toilet/sink was like a passthrough location between the kitchen and bedroom - one side had a hook and eye - the other didn't, nor were the doors truly doors with knobs but rather wood panels that you pull to - if you need privacy, this wasn't going to provide it. Overall, not bad, but for the price, I wouldn't stay here again.

Cute comfortable cottage close to the beach.
I stayed at this cottage with a group of girlfriends for a weekend. It was cute, comfortable, and easy to enjoy. The walk to the beach was quick and easy, neighborhood was welcoming, and the interior was updated but still had plenty of old-fashioned cottagey charm (Hobbit doors, anyone??) It was too hot while we were there to use the fire pit, but it looks like a great thing to do. Plenty of both indoor and outdoor lounging space. The only drawback was the road noise from Lakeshore Drive when we were hanging out in the front screened in porch - but that was moderate. Overall, a very nice stay.

Clean little cottage. Great location
Beach bungalow is a cute little cottage. Clean and in a great location. The stairs down to the beach are steep; however, you can quickly drive to the State or Tunnel Park. Be prepared for a small square shower, only 1 air conditioner (which made it hard to cool the main bedroom) and a low door way. The mattresses are very comfortable and kitchen is decently stocked. Great outdoor area with fantastic working grill. Fabulous white fluffy towels, no complaint there! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect little cottage!
This cottage was tiny, but clean, well maintained, and had nearly everything we could have needed. The beach is a short walk up the hill and then down the steps to Lake Michigan, and the sunsets on the lake were just amazing. The cottage was great, and fit our family of five snugly, but just fine. The kitchen was well equipped and the little island was great for kids having breakfast. The porch was nice as well - breezy without the mosquitos! We were a quick (and beautiful) drive into Holland's main town area and Lake Macatawa. Bring a hair dryer if you need one - that was the only thing we had wished was there that wasn't. Everything was great - would definitely stay here again if we're coming back to Lake Michigan!

Very cute, clean and organized
As an update to the other reviews, there are now curtains up along with a broom. The porch was also clean and no spiderwebs were present. The bungalow was a nice place to spend a long weekend in Holland. It was near just about anywhere that we wanted to go. We loved that it had pots/pans, dishes to bake in, ample fridge and freezer space, and a washer and dryer. They even supplied laundry soap! They also had brought in a box fan and extension cords. There are ample plates, glasses and silverware. Coffee maker worked perfectly and they supplied filters. There is not a dish washer in this unit. The shower is a tight fit for anyone over 5'5. And the bedroom doorway is very short and small. I am 5'3 and just fit under the door way. But everything was clean and comfortable. I would recommend bringing your own pillows. There was something inside of the bedroom outlet and we were unable to plug in but the bottom one was fine. I would bring long cords to charge electronics. Wifi and television worked perfect. We did not use the fireplace but it was a nice touch. The beach access was not really what we had in mind but it was clean and beautiful . If you have small children/infant the stair case is not easy to maneuver. It is very steep. Found it difficult to go up and down with a 13 month old. Thank goodness I brought a wearable carrier. Older children thought it was fun to make the climb. We watched the sunset one evening and it was perfect. I would have given it 5 stars but the stairs to the beach make it a 4 for me! I would rent this unit again. It worked for 3 children and 3 adults. Older children loved the bunk beds.
