Lauderdale is a family-oriented suburb, it has cafes, petrol stations, Gourmet grocers, a great family Hotel (Foreshore Tavern, chemist and restaurants all located in a 5-kilometer radius. The beach can be accessed across the road through the family friendly park.

With Salamanca only being a 25-minute drive away, I would highly recommend going to the iconic Salamanca Markets on a Saturday morning. The weekly outdoor market held by Hobart’s waterfront offers a diverse range of nearly 300 stalls including original and hand-made Tasmanian pieces of woodwork, jewelry, fashion, glassware, and ceramics, as well as the finest flavors from the food and produce stalls. Salamanca Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8.30am to 3pm.
I would also recommend the Farm Gate Market, which runs on a Sunday morning from 8.30am to1pm. The market is located on Bathurst Street,
Getting Around:
For the optimal experience exploring Hobart and its surroundings, having a car is advisable. Yet, if you rely on public transportation, there's a conveniently located bus stop nearby with regular services commuting to the CBD.
