Very little in way of common spaces, no bar, limited restaurant. Purely functional jump off point for a tour otherwise I would have spent a little more for a vastly better hotel

Saigon Royal Hotel
Given a room - No. 101. Big room but no window on the first floor near lift. 1st floor dirty. Carpet dirty. Used sofa dirty and stacked near lift door. No window - felt stressed as i don't know the time of the day. Paid for 9 days but stayed for 4 days as i went to Mui Ne and Dalat. Staff - lackadaisical attitude. Will not stay or book there anymore.

Room 101.
The room is big but i do not have a window. As it is 1 person traveller, the hotel should have asked if i like a room with a window. The first floor is dirty giving me an impression like in a store room. I booked for 9 days but stayed about 4 days only as i went to Dalat and Mui Ne. I felt so stressed up in a room without a window and do not know whether it is day or night. My stay from 12 Dec - 20 Dec. is not very pleasant in the hotel and am not recommending to any of my friends at all. Please ensure that the staff on duty at night speak some English ( especially the uncles who do the night routine). The toilet - the glass panel near the mirror is slippery and this caused one of the glass/cup to slip and broke as it fell because it is slippery. I was fined for this stupid panel.and had to pay for the glass/cup.

Dirty, unfriendly staff and a smelly room.
The first thing you notice is the dirty heavily stained carpets. The pictures were taken years ago and the hotel is not cleaned or maintained. My non smoking smelled from smoke with 4 room deodorizers to fix the smell. Towels were worn out and very hard. We had to get toilet paper from the front desk none came in the room. We had no hot water at 7am to shower with. If your a foreigner you cannot check into a room with your Vietnam Girlfriend and we just been to Angor Wat and Phu Quoc Island and never had this issue. I was charged for another room and I could not cancel my room due to their policy. I been with my GF for 2 years and this is the first hotel to enforce a old Vietnam law.

Nice hotel right in the centre of the city
Very reasonable price, and very comfortable. Shower drain was blocked. We had to unscrew the cap on the drain so the water could flow away. We found an unplugger in the hallway. I used it and left the screw undone. The cleaner fixed it up the next day.

Noisy hotel close to busy road.
There was a comfortable bed and a working air conditioner, but it did start singing to us at about 2am. The traffic dies down and at the end of the day it is close to a number of landmarks. Ok for a night but I wouldn't want to live here.

I had the deluxe room which is big with one double and one single bed. It has a balcony. It is slightly away from cho Ben Thanh market but still centrally located. It has a restaurant the 9th floor so you can have food any time you want. However, the free breakfast is very minimal and service slightly slow. There are no complimentary water and the bathtub leaked water everytime you have a shower. I personally like a hard mattess bed. This is one is too soft for me. This kind of room is worth around 32 dollars. Anything over 35 dollars is too expensive for the condition it is in.
