Comfortable and value for money hotel
Bathroom was a little run down but had been cleaned. Rest of room is comfortable and clean. Room was away from elevator so quiet. A little bit of road noise but if you're an ok sleeper no problem. It was cheap for a hotel. Delivered on expectations.
The rooms and the staff are terrible. The first room we were in had no running water. When we reported it eventually we got cold water for our shower. The rooms are very run down with peeling wallpaper, cigarette burn marks, dirty towels (towels that are actually not clean and have other people's 'stuff' on it) and the rooms smelled musty and of cigarettes.
The staff was also terrible. If an issue was reported they did not address it in a timely manner or acted bothered that you asked. They had no sense of customer service training.
The only reason we stayed here was because it was an extra day added on to a group tour and it was convenient. Otherwise we definitely would have changed hotels.
We had a good stay, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast good. The locations is good, within reach of the tourist attractions and many restaurants. The room was a little tired, the air con wasn't very powerful, though the bathroom was well done.
The staff was friendly and generally helpful, although one of them booked me on a tour that I found out later was way overpriced. The room was spacious and quiet. And for breakfast, there was a nice selection, as well as made-to-order omelets.

Good location but a few issues to sort out
I was a bit disappointed by this hotel. A real lack of attention to details: for example the bed cover had holes in them and the wall paper was torn. I was surprised to find out at breakfast that, unless you woke up early, the food was all gone. Strange.
I would say a ok hotel, but lacking attention to details.

OK for the price
The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast which was quite tasty. We ended up staying in two different rooms. The first one was missing towels and the card key never worked. The hotel staff had to let us in our first night. We changed rooms the next day and our towels were damp, as if they hadn't been dried properly. It took the staff forever to get us fresh towels. Second best thing about the hotel was the location. You could easily walk to many of the city's sites and to the supermarket.
Overall the hotel is nice for what you pay. The best is the location, just about every point of interest in District 1 or 3 is walk-able from it.

Safe, secure, well located hotel. Nice staff.
I spent 3 nights in this hotel. I was impressed with the breakfasts. The exercise room could be upgraded, but worked well enough. If you need a reasonable place, close to Independence Palace, this is a good option.
During the 10-day stay, we can say the staff from front desk to kitchen are friendly and customer focus. Bao & Loc at the front door love their job and gave us very good advice, from direction to places to safety tips outside the hotel.
Our room is small but quite comfortable by 3-star hotel standard. However, the smell and odor of smoking in the hallway and the elevators area bothered us a lot. People smoke everywhere in HCM and other cities.
I have to change 2 rooms as first room when I shower flooded , 2nd Room smell of mould but no choice as I don't like keep moving. The Towel smell very bad lol. In fact I am suppose to extend the stay and my the other 2 visitor coming to join me but in the end I change to another Hotel and we are happy for the change. Surrounding is ok not the best can hear all the noise from the road. Smell and breakfast is bad. Avoid if you can. I am sure and very sure there are better Hotel with the same price as I have since move to that other Hotel.
The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, the breakfast was great (real sausages) the showers were hot and strong, and the location was good what more could you ask for? All in all a great place to stay.

Good well priced hotel at central location
The hotel staff was nice, the room was good, the location great. The breakfast really good too. Dont go there for the gym though, thats basically non-existing and the things that are there are broken.
I stayed here 2 years ago and this time returned with my wife. Linh, a receptionist rembered me and as on the previous occassion all staff were exyceptionally polite, couteous and helpful. Nothing was problem for them.Tour bookings etc were smooth and without issue. Food was again good and plentiful. I have no hesitation in again recommemnding this hotel to anyone. We will book in again for a few more days before we return home to Australia
My wife and I were shocked at the bargain this hotel was. Service was great, rooms were huge and they gave us a very nice upgrade since our room wasnt available. Would definitely stay there again in Saigon
Had a small problem with one of the staff there on my first night but the manager was very quick to fix it and take care of my stay personally. Very nice change from the normal customer service im use to in Vietnam. The room was clean and comfortable. The street in front is oneway but not so busy or loud.

Nice hotel to spend a few days
This is a nice hotel close to some places of interest. War remnants museum, Reunification palace and a very good park are withing walking distance. Moreover, there is a very good supermarket nearby for those who need to get some stuff. The staff was very helpful and sent one of the guys to meet us at the airport and arranged the transfer. Also, it was very nice to find out that you can order a tour to Mekong delta and other destinations right from the reception without the need to go search for unknown tourist companies which are abundant in the streets. So, the tour we ordered was quite nice and they picked us up from the hotel and brought back in the evening. You can buy tickets for tourist sleeper buses going to Muine, Dalat and Nha Trang from the reception too. The breakfasts were very good with some local foods with reasonable variety. Generally, the hotel is very good with three star rating reasonably deserved. I would recommend this hotel to those who plan to stay for some days in the city and want quiet atmosphere rather than commotion of the backpacker's area.

Good staff, good location
Good staff, clean and comfortable room. This hotel stay near center of city. We recommend this hotel
I stayed at this hotel for about 6 hours as a stop over after a night flight so my experiences are limited. The bed was extremely comfortable, air conditioning kept me cool and the staff were professional. Close to War Remnants Museum if you have a little time to kill as I did.
Golden Rose,
Alright for a budged hotel, the hotel, just one block down the road,
Victory Hotel is much better though ,it also has a pool, so for the very small price difference, I would recommend this hotel over the Golden Rose.
i booked this based on my budget for the night and based on the previous guests review...
There was mass confusion when we checked in. I'm not really sure why because my Vietnamese wife was doing all the talking.
As I checked my email on their slow computers waiting for our room to be straightened out the 2 porters at the door sat on luggage trollys. One was sending a text message and the other had his flip-flop off and was picking at his feet.
Is this the quality service that the previous reviewer mentioned??
The public areas were hot and smokey. The bed was and air-conditioning were ok but the location wasn't very good if you are a tourist looking to see the sights around the market...
Breakfast was below average.
Our previous 2 stays at the Blue Diamond for a similar price were FAR SUPERIOR.
I wouldn't return to this hotel.
