The hotel is like a tardis. When you first see it from the front it looks like a nice decent sized pub. Then the accommodation area extends quite some way off the back, which was a surprise.
Once you walk away from the bar into the accommodation area, that's where the issues start. An out of use male toilet, a horrible smell of damp, bare plasterwork (I'm assuming they have had a water issue). My room was on the first floor and away from the smell, so that was ok. It was spacious, generally clean if you didn't look at the edges of the carpet, which had a nice covering of dust. The bathroom however, again, while relatively clean, had broken floor tiles, missing grouting etc and needed a refurb.
On the positive side. The staff were very good and attentive and I thought the food was quite nice and reasonably priced. It's in a great location with it's namesake 'the devils punchbowl' very close. I had a couple of minutes walk to the viewing platform to have a look, very impressive.
