This is a great place to stay. We stayed in the off season so everything in Hill city was less busy. I could see it being loud and busy in the summer since it is right on the highway in town by the main drag.
The property was perfectly located…walking distance to Main Street. We loved the place and Ken did a great job making sure everything went well. Definitely recommend.
This property is the place to stay. Location is perfect for walking the town. The back yard was peaceful and a coffee shop next door. House had everything needed.
We were so happy with our stay! The house was clean, cute, cozy and welcoming. The location is walking distance to so many things. The coffee shop next door was convenient and delicious. Perfect house to stay in- we will definitely be back!
The location of the house was in a great spot within walking distance or short drive to many attractions, dining, and groceries. Ken was great with recommendations and quick responses. House had all needed supplies and amenities. Great stay!
It was a great place to stay with a great view. We could easily walk to down town. The place was clean and well kept. The only thing is, while it has more room for trailers than most houses in the area it was a bit tighter than I thought to get my truck and trailer in and out of there.
Communication with Ken was awesome. He even stopped by to see if we needed anything or if we had any questions when we first arrived. Very handy location to see the southern part of the Black Hills and the surrounding attractions.
We spent 5 nights at this lovely home. It is well stocked, has a grill, and the location can't be beat! Walking downtown daily was a joy. Our dog enjoyed the safety of a great yard with fence...and a park across the street. We highly recommend this property!
Ken was a great host! Quick with communication and very accommodating. The property is spacious, clean and comfortable. The gated back yard provides extra safety if traveling with children or pets. Excellent option for your visit to the Black Hills.
This place is in the perfect location. The entire city is walkable. Many really good restaurants, bars and entertainment. The house is very clean, well maintained and decorated very nicely. Parking is ample, one note of caution is that the parking is deep gravel. Was a bit of a challenge on motorcycles, but we managed. Will look for this place again when we return to the area.

No bathroom upstairs. Loud traffic noise. Low quality kitchen supplies.
The property was very nice. Fenced in yard was great for our dog. No bathroom upstairs was a kinda a pain. Kithen had old pots and pans. Cracked bowls. I had to go buy trash bags. Lots of traffic noise. Great location.
This place was perfect for us. My father and I used our stay at this property as a hub for some UTV trail riding. The driveway was just the right size for our pickup and trailer and utv. The house was extremely clean and tidy. We utilized the Hill City restaurants for our dinner meals, and they did not disappoint. The house offered more than we utilized while there. For anyone looking to stay directly in Hill City, this is a wonderful property to stay at.
Easy walk to all downtown attractions and restaurants. Directly across from the train also. The house was older but has been upgraded and remodeled and was spotless. We met the owner who was very helpful and interesting to talk with. When we couldn’t locate the hair dryer, he went out and bought a new one for us immediately. The only downside of the old house that some may have is the bathrooms are on the main floor, there are none upstairs where two bedrooms are, but it didn’t matter to us. Very reasonably priced for what we got. Large parking area, enough for our small ATV trailer and a few cars.
I rented this house for an annual reunion with two friends. It is actually larger than it looks in the picture and we had plenty of room to spread out. It was also very clean and well equipped. Our host was very responsive to our questions and came over promptly to fix a misbehaving toilet.
The house is in a great location for visiting the Black Hills and an easy drive from the Rapid City Airport. Hill City is a cute little town with a decent choice of restaurants all within walking distance and also a large grocery store. It is on a fairly busy street, so if you are a light sleeper bring your ear plugs or sound machine!
Both the full bathroom and the powder room are on the first floor as is one bedroom. The other two bedrooms are upstairs. The upstairs bedrooms did get warm despite the central air conditioning. Room fans would be a big help with keeping the rooms cooler and also help with the outside traffic noise. Also there are no screens on the windows so we were reluctant to keep them open as then we would get flies in the house.
Overall, a great place to stay if you want space and a convenient location !
We had a very pleasant stay. The location was great. We could walk to restaurants and all the shops on main street. We loved having a coffee shop next door and purchased our morning coffee and treats there. There was a gas station just two blocks away which I found very convenient. The location was great and easy to find. We appreciated having two separate bathrooms but it would have been nice if one if them was on the second floor.
Great house and setup, loved the fenced in area for our dogs. Not big enough driveway to pull trailer in, especially on busy highway/intersection. Overall great place and location!!
Location-location-location: Mickelson Trail bucket list
My sister’ s “bucket list” included biking the Mickelson trail. We stayed at Ken’s home which is literally adjacent to tha Hill city trail … Rochford to Hill city is the most beautiful part of the ride. The home is comfortable, lots of offstreet parking with porches for bikes and hiking/ski gear. Dog friendly and clean. Coffee shop literally next door. Prime location to bike and walk downtown. Best of all, Ken was amazing!!!!! In fact, my sister accidentally three away a garbage sack which had my daughter’s dirty clothes in it. We did not realize this until we got home 6hrs away. Ken was so kind as to dig the bag out and send it. I can not tell you how grateful my daughter was!!! I also cannot begin to thank him enough for making our weekend so great…. Even going out of his way to help. Will stay here again when our legs recover from the 101 mile ride … the best!!!!!
The location is amazing, right in the middle of everything. Walking distance to shopping and food and a 20 or 30 minute drive will get you to a hand full of attractions. I definitely recommend this property. The only thing it needs are some new cooking pans.
