"Sweet place to stay…right on the beach! Turtles were there…surrounded by tourists! The staff were friendly and kind. Obs not luxury but for a cheap time on the beach very good! Outstanding curry at The Bistro "

"Wow.... we were blown away when we first arrived at the Villa even though we arrived during a big storm! We stayed over Christmas and New Year with my parents and my teenage boys and we all had a wonderful time. Susantha, Yasiru, Hindy and Bandullah were all fantastic and really helped to make our holiday truly magical. The villa is beautiful and we all had plenty of space to not get on top of each other. The kids enjoyed spending lots of time in the pool and relaxing by the beach on the sun loungers. The food Yasiru and Hindy prepared each day was amazing, fresh and clean everyone enjoyed it. We will definitely be back "

"Really friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious. Very relaxing vibe. Spotted lots of birds without moving from our balcony. Although in peaceful location, easy to get tuk tuk to busier resort area. "

"Staff were lovely. Although not quite prepared for our arrival, they sprung into action to prepare our rooms. Rooms were clean and spacious and had basic furniture and en-suite shower rooms. Air con in bedroom. Stairs only, up to the second floor. Lovely balcony with overhanging roof to reduce any rain coming onto balcony. Small but clean pool and always a sun bed available when we wanted one. Small bar area. About 800m to nearest section of beach but a bit further to supermarket and beaches, bars and restaurants that we wanted to go to - between 1.5 to 3 km approximately. Walkable on roadside and easy in a tuk tuk. Banks with cash machines also at this distance from hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. "

"Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel is located right on the beach, the ocean is just a step away. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The restaurant is open for limited time frames but room service is available throughout the day. Loved the view from our room, to get the sea view you have to book premium sea view. Comfortable beds and pillows. The staff was courteous and helpful. The Wi-Fi was spotty especially during peak usage but the view, the sea, sun and sand make up for it. Food service maybe slow at peak times but you need to understand that food is made to order and NOT premade. Breakfast is a delicious spread of Sri Lankan and Western dishes, with a good selection of breads, fruits and juices. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality at Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel."

"We wanted a relaxing and peaceful holiday with a pool and view and good service. This hotel didn’t disappoint us. There are only six rooms so the service was personal and exceptional. The hotel is located at the quieter end of the Hikkadawa stretch of beach which suited us. The livelier bars and hotels were only a short walk away too. There are buses every five minutes just outside that took us to the Tsunami museum one day and Galle Fort another for about 50p each, each way. Great fun and very easy to do. The hotel chef was eager to please and show off his skills and we loved the food there. Some meals had to be ordered in advance and some took a while to come as they are all freshly cooked to order. No mass menu from freezer to microwave here! We can highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an authentic Sri Lankan service and not a big 5* chain that could be anywhere in the world. "

"It's an old hotel. 50 yrs. So it's tired and needs a refurbish. Rooms are OK, but bathroom leaks water from the shower leaving puddles of water in the bathroom. Could smell urine in room 205 when using the shower so probably linked to the drainage system. Pool needs redone as several broken tiles and there were 3 people I saw who cut themselves including a member of staff and my daughter. Restaurant and bar is very good, great choice and food options are lovely. Staff are excellent and very friendly. Opposite a supermarket which is handy. So overall a really nice hotel, pretty basic but has great potential with a bit of investment. "

"Heaven in Sri Lanka. The space is just magical. You'll feel like you're in a private luxury jungle with an incredible view and pool. You can stay here for days indulging in complete relaxation and pleasure. The hosts are super attentive and don't forget to ask for a Sri Lankan breakfast, they are excellent cooks."
