"Room was completely misadvertised as having a shower/bath, there was only communal available and even that had limited availability. The room had paper thin walls and wasn't exactly the cleanest one I have stayed at. I checked out early considering the false advertising and unacceptable conditions, the manager was unhelpful and came up with bogus excuses, refusing any refund. It's a Showa era youth hostel, nothing more. Avoid."

"The manager who runs it was particularly accommodating and helpful very late in the night when many of us arrived after a Rugby World Cup game. I changed to this accommodation for this reason actually as the other option was unable to take late check ins. Very grateful."

"Terrible staff service. I stayed there for 4 nights because I just didn’t want to move my belongings but seemed like the more you stay, the more terrible they are. I don’t know do they have bias only for me or not but I felt it is. As I noticed the guest who only stayed 1 night or short time, They are very welcome and doing good service. From my opinion I pay money more. Either I stayed only 1 night but I also need fairness not bias. "

"The staff were very friendly and flexible, especially with luggage storage and can communicate very well in English as well. The hostel is also very clean and has modern toilets. "This is the cleanest and most modern hostel in Beppu. I have stayed twice this month and will stay again in early April with about five friends. I like the location and cleanliness, but as important is the kitchen and dining room. The room is big enough to easily fit 30 people. This makes is perfect for groups because we have a place to meet and talk besides the dorm bedrooms. It is less than 5 minutes from the train station, a market, a grocery store and many restaurants."

"I enjoyed staying here, but there are some things that can be improved. The air filter in the bathroom had not been cleared in a really long time, if ever. No one has dusted behind the TV in quite some time. I stayed for two weeks, but was only given 1 role of toilet paper and a meager amount of dish soap. The lighting outside is very dim and I was worried about slipping when come back in the evening when it had rained. It would also be helpful to have instructions in English for the appliances....
