Built in 2011, this beautiful cottage is filled with French charm.  Light, & bright with a warm modern rustic feel, the judicious use of natural stone, honey colored wood and whitewashed walls, this home is magazine worthy but family friendly.  The soaring, open concept great room with two seating areas, one for reading by the fire and the other for movie night, make it the perfect home for entertaining your friends or family.

You’ll love preparing gourmet meals in this home’s kitchen which features plenty of counter space and windows that let the outdoors in. The elegant main level primary suite boasts a footed tub and walk-in shower for the ultimate spa like experience. Two bedrooms on the upper level each have two double beds and the loft with trundle provides extra sleeping space.

The breezy front porch has a tiny view of Satulah Mountain and a wonderful gas firepit. The porch swing is perfectly positioned to watch the brilliant Highlands sunsets. Located just two blocks from downtown Highlands and on one of the most popular walking paths in town around Harris Lake, you’re perfectly situated for feeding the ducks or a stroll to town.

Cancellation Policy

Policy (A)  for reservations less than 20 days:
A reservation canceled between 0-45 days prior to arrival is not eligible to receive a refund. If more than 45 days notice is given, the renter shall receive a refund of all payments made, less a cancellation fee of 10% of the Total Cost of the Reservation.

Policy (B) for reservations of 20 days or more and reservations made 6 months in advance:
NO refund is given unless the property is re-rented under the same terms (Trip insurance is available and recommended to help protect your trip).

Sweetwood Cottage is a Special Place!
We can't wait to visit again. Sweetwood Cottage was the perfect location for our girls trip. It was beautifully decorated and had all the comforts of home. While we didn't realize we had planned our trip in the "off season" there was still plenty of shopping and fine dining available. Looking forward to our next visit and stay at Sweetwood.

MLK weekend getaway
We were looking for a quick weekend getaway from Atlanta and looking for a little snow. Great property!! Love the layout of the house. We visit Highlands a few times a year and this property is one of the best we have stayed at. Felt like home away from home. We will definitely look to stay here again when we come back up.

Absolutely Charming!
We stay at many VRBOs and this was by far, one of the most charming. It was so welcoming AND clean. Every essential detail was taken care of as far as comfort and needed items. We feel very fortunate to have located this home and we would definitely reserve this property again.

What a blessing! We absolutely loved the long weekend we spent at the Sweetwood Cottage and can’t wait to go back. The cottage was VERY comfortable and extremely well stocked, we wouldn’t change a thing. Fabulous House
We were 4 friends spending 5 days together. The house was more like a home. I was very welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen had everything one would need to make any meal. We were close enough to walk to town, but didn’t because there are no sidewalks. The beds were comfy but the bedroom pillows upstairs could use an update. We thoroughly enjoyed the front porch and sat out there many an afternoon. I hope this house is available on my next visit to Highlands.

Had a cozy and relaxing girls weekend in this beautiful mountain cabin. The cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We had one small snafu while there and after calling the number provided it was fixed immediately. Thank you Joe! Run don't walk to rent this fantastic home away from home.

This property was the biggest blessing to our family! The kitchen is perfectly stocked. The bedrooms are comfortable with just the right amount of privacy yet still having the capability of feeling connected to family. The fireplace is amazing. The front porch is the perfect escape for reading a book on a lazy afternoon. The views are so green year round, with a pond with geese in walking distance. Downtown Highlands is within walking distance to all the shops and cafe’s. We truly don’t want to leave the property to explore the area because the cabin is extremely warm and cozy. The decor is an eclectic French country with fine linens and towels. We WILL be back!

Nice property.
Nice property. Clean town. Nice and cool. Good beer. Enjoyed the stay. Having owned a vacation property for some years, I think the insurance for damage is a good option. However requiring a $3,000 damage deposit in lieu of the insurance premium is ludicrous. If the rental agency receives a portion the premium as a commission (which I suspect) I would regard as unethical...and inviting a class action lawsuit from the right (or wrong) person. The e-sign contract provided that the insurance provided coverage up to $3,000 and the renter was responsible for anything over that. Okay. Then it said that the deposit is $1,500 in lieu of accepting the insurance coverage. I asked Alicen by e-mail which was correct...my answer was the debit of my bank card by $3,000. Still awaiting the return of my $3,000 damage deposit. Obviously, was (and still is) my major beef of the stay and really its with the company and not the property...which was very good.
