Historic Property, 1860's Barn, Cold A/C, 12 Minutes to Downtown Durango!

****NOTE: THE QUOTED PRICING IS FOR THE MAIN SIDE OF THE BARN (5 Beds). LOCKOFF SIDE OF THE BARN (1 Bed) REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL FEE. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION.

Post Built in 1860, this Amish built barn was constructed in north central Indiana just before the outbreak of the Civil War. This excellent example of early hand-hewn post & beam construction was carefully dismantled and transported to the Durango area where it was rebuilt exactly as it originally stood. Located just seven miles outside of Durango, the 'barn' includes a 30 foot high living-dining-kitchen area, one King and five Queen beds, four bathrooms, with plenty of parking and wonderful views (see north porch view above). Furnished with antiques from the Colonial to Civil War period, the barn is trimmed out with 160 year-old wood from the barn. Situated on 11 acres there is plenty of room to walk the property, enjoy the views, and enjoy all that Durango has to offer. The Barn is AIR CONDITIONED!

The Barn has a king in the master, queen in the second and third bedrooms, and 2 queens in the loft. Enjoy a full kitchen with plenty of seating, and a comfortable living room. Sleeps 10. There is a "lockoff" available at the barn that can be connected at an additional cost. This would add another master suite with master bath and a loft area with a sleeper sofa and one more bathroom. Also, this would give you an additional full kitchen and living area. Perfect for large families that want to spread out. Rent one side of the barn, or both Each side is priced separately . . . Please inquire for a full description of the South side and prices.

Also available for families . . . a high chair, pac-n-play, and misc. baby items!

Bed Configuration:
Master Bedroom - King Bed (main level)
2nd Bedroom - King Bed (main level)
3rd Bedroom - Queen Bed (2nd level)
4th Semi-private Bedroom - Queen Bed (2nd level)

Excellent Retreat Just Outside of Durango
We occupied both Curry Barn and the extension. Our group of seven was comfortable with private or semi-private sleeping areas, enough bathrooms, excellent common areas, and a fantastic setting. Lots of parking, too. Recommend the barn for groups of 5, and barn plus extension for 7 people. Hope to return.

Amazing
Our family had a great time staying at the Curry Barn. Plenty of room for everyone and the views were awesome. Deer frequently came around in the morning and evening. The place was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We would highly recommend the Curry Barn and the property management company was great to work with. We would stay there again!

Had a few minor issues when we arrived, but Jen was on it very quickly and professionally. We (10 family & friends) had a wonderful stay and very much enjoyed this incredible accommodation.

Unique, comfortable lodging, great view
We have stayed at the Curry Barn 4 times, so obviously we like it! The furnishings are very comfortable, and the barn was fully stocked with everything you might need. It has A/C now, but we did not need to use it since the weather was so nice. The view is great, and we saw deer daily in the yard. I only wish it had a bigger deck so we could spend more time outdoors, then it would be perfection!

Beautiful house, great country location
Beautiful setting, well-stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, bath items, etc. We were an older bunch( only two under 80) and the stairs to the loft were a challenge

Perfect Family Gathering Place
The Curry Barn is beautiful! The location is perfect to take in all that Durango and the surrounding area has to offer and the setting is stunning. Our group consisted of 8 adults (me and my husband, my parents, daughter and her husband, daughter and her boyfriend). There was enough room for everyone.

WE all loved the quiet setting and the awesome barn!
We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone loved the barn! The complaint people had was that the bedrooms were warm, even with the fans on and windows open. There were no windows to open in the loft, so no cross ventilation. We all had a wonderful time, Thanks!

Rocked My World
We really enjoyed our stay at Curry Barn. There were seven of us in our party and and we each had our own bed, which are very comfortable. The entire home is beautifully appointed and the great room conducive for gatherings with ample space. I've never stayed at a rental with such a well supplied kitchen. If you're lucky, you'll even see the resident great-horned owl. It all made for a wonderful retreat.

Sibling Iron Butt
Every year my husband and I join my brothers and their wives for a motorcycle ride. (No, we don't go the distance of a true Iron butt, just enjoy daily rides on curvy roads). This restored barn was incredible to come home to each night. Very charming/ welcoming. The attention to detail amazing. We totally enjoyed our visit!

Curry barn
The barn is complete with every amenity you could require and is central to downtown Durango with a short drive but far enough out you see the stars at night which were epic. The entire facility is actually two places in one. If you need to you could rent both sides I'm guessing. The kitchen and common area is where you spend 90% of family time and it's perfect go force everyone to drop their cell phones and play good old card games and get back to basics. Solid family vacation place.. really enjoyed it.

Amazing Place
We rented the Curry Barn and the Curry Barn Extension for a week for our kids and grandkids to celebrate our 60th anniversary with us at Soaring (a repeat of our 50th 10 years ago). It was perfect for our group. We loved the big gathering room, the outdoors, and the entire place. We loved that it was somewhat isolated without close neighbors. Be advised that the water is very salty so you will want to buy bottled water to drink and to make coffee and tea. We had trouble finding a sharp knife also, but in spite of that I still say it was magnificent and perfect in every other way and it certainly deserves 5 stars.

Delightful
Our group had a wonderful stay at the Curry Barn. The accommodations and amenities were both wonderful. Beautiful kitchen, dining and open areas for our party of 6 to cook and dine. We were on motorcycles so getting groceries was an issue but we discovered that Instacart will deliver anything you need to this location as well. The BBQ grill came in handy and the kitchen was very well stocked for condiments & other supplies. The Barn isn't too far from the main road yet still tucked away to provide a very peaceful & quiet experience. The views were incredible as well. The Barn is a quick and gorgeous drive from Durango. Many "Thanks" to the owners for changing their schedule to allow us an extra day as we never wanted to leave. We will definitely return and highly recommend the Curry Barn.

Perfect family getaway
Our family had a wonderful stay. The house was great. Due to covid, we cooked at home every night. The kitchen was well stocked. The only bummer was the heat. Our week happen to be the hottest week of the year and there is no AC. Opening windows at night cooled the house down. Installing screen doors would help a lot with cooling the house (we didn't want to keep the doors open because of the bugs). We loved seeing wildlife on the property - lots of deer, a fox and a coyote!

Perfect place for our Sister's Trip
Each year we go on a sister's trip and this year we decided to visit Durango, CO. We always like to stay in a house so we can do our own cooking, have a place to visit and play cards! We found the Curry Barn easily online and chose it because it had just the right amount of space we needed. We absolutely LOVED the Barn! It was very clean and had everything we needed especially in the kitchen. The views were absolutely gorgeous. Very close to town and yet out far enough to be quiet. We had some issues with the wi-fi and the problem was fixed very quickly and professionally. Easy to find. If we ever come back to Durango we will definitely stay here again. LOVED IT!!!

Beautiful place, difficult to find.
The Barn was a great place to stay, very convenient to the wedding venue we were attending, as well as the routes to Farmington and Durango. The place was beautiful surrounded with the lovely Colorado outdoors, complete with deer and even a bobcat. We have never stayed in a VRBO that had so many amenities present. Beautifully and very thoughtfully equipped (For instance, in the past we even had to buy a can opener at one place.) There were two points of difficulty, one being it was hard to find when we arrived. The address sign on the drive in was difficult to see, so it took a long time to find. Thankfully, we arrived in daylight. It would have been almost impossible to see in the dark. The second was that there were two lock boxes for the keys, which was confusing at first. The shed they were in was also dark and had no flashlight, as instructed, so seeing the code was difficult. Otherwise we truly enjoyed the stay. Thank you.

Great experience, lovely property.
We stayed at the Curry Barn in September. The barn was lovely, very spacious and comfortable. I was initially concerned about the lack of air conditioning, because I am notoriously hot natured, but it was not an issue. The weather was warm during the day and cool in the evenings, and if you do as suggested by opening the windows in the evenings and close them during the day, the barn functions as designed to keep the temperature very comfortable. There are numerous ceiling fans to keep the air circulating. The water is soft, and slippery..... again not an issue. We cooked or grilled every day, and appreciated having the fully stocked kitchen that had all of the cookware, utensils and dinnerware that we needed. The location was close enough to town to be convenient, yet far enough away to feel secluded. We had a couple of questions during our stay, and Jen either answered my call immediately or returned the call promptly. I am very picky and a stickler about cleanliness- it was very clean and very comfortable and homey. Oh, and we saw deer and turkeys almost every day. I would definitely stay here again.

Curry Barn and Extension
We rented the main Barn and Extension for a First Cousin Family Reunion for five days. There were twelve of us which accounted for eight families. Ages were mid fifties through mid seventies. We have a reunion every year. This was the first reunion in Colorado. A one word description of our stay would be “FANTASTIC”, we will be back in the future. Durango is a lovely location. Great to get away from the heat of Texas. My wife and I visit Durango several times a year and know several of the Main Avenue store owners personally. We knew that the area would be friendly and welcoming to visitors. The Barn was well stocked in the kitchen with plenty of dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils. We ate two dinners and two lunches and always had what we needed to cook three course meals. The ladies loved the open floor plan and large kitchen of the Barn side while the Extension side had plenty of room for breakfast for those on that side. All bedrooms had plenty of bedding and sheets. The beds were hard but after a few days we made adjustments to make them comfortable. Bathrooms had all that was required, except bath soap! It might have been an oversight by the cleaning crew but we have never stayed in a location that did not provide a new bar of soap for each bath, shower, and lavatory. Additionally a large group needs more than one trash bin for long stays. We never used any TV's only the WIFI. The WI-FI worked perfect with plenty of speed. We had the windows open at night with the fans so never used the AC. With all the beautiful windows the sun warmed things up in the morning so the heat was not used. It made for a perfect outdoor feel. We filled each day with sightseeing and shopping. Local places we visited included the Bar-D show and dinner theater and of course the Durango & Silverton train. Downtown was as fun as usual. Plenty of stores to visit and places to eat, don't miss the Corner Crepes. Played Putt-putt for some serious Texas BBQ. Side note: I have been to Aspen for work and pleasure more times than I can count. Go to Durango for less crowds, friendly people and to save your money. Out of town we visited Mesa Verde (a must), Four Corners, Shiprock, Purgatory (better in Winter) and Pagosa Springs. Plenty to do for everyone. Durango Colorado Vacations was a great organization to work with. They helped give us piece of mind with a couple concerns about bedrooms and bathrooms. Twelve people using only five bathrooms takes a little work. Worked out for us after we saw the arrangement. In short, Curry Barn was perfect for us and we are anxious to return.

The whole Curry Barn
The architecture is wonderful, the property open and the skygazing beautiful. It was great to stay in this unique structure. My whole family (8 of us) stayed here for a week around Christmas, and we were greeted with a nice layer of snow. The radiant floor heating keeps the place super comfortable, and there are plenty of bathrooms for a large group. The only complaint would be that the water here is very soft. This makes showering very slippery (no big deal), and the tap water very salty. Basically undrinkable. I would have liked if the hosts provided some alternative system for drinking water (RO or a dispenser). The trash facilities weren't quite adequate for our large group, although we made do. One of the windows didn't close away, allowing a draft in the kitchen. But this is a unique structure with so much to offer, these small things didn't negatively affect our stay at all.
