"We spent seven days here in April, 2023. This is a lovely village with everything you might need for a great time. Restaurants were exceptionally good. The people were very nice and outgoing. Many spoke English. Lots of good walking in the area. We'd go back to this area in a heartbeat. If you go don't miss nearby Marvao castle and village. As for the house, there are 38 steep steps from the lower level up to the terrace. The middle flight is steepest and has no handrail. The house is 3 levels...

"What a sweet stay we had at Antonio’s flat in Beira! The apartment has everything you need and is fully modernized. From the remarkable countryside near the town, to the flat’s lovely terrace, and of course the dynamite liqueur made by his father which he shared with us, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. "Jose and Clara were consummate hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. The azenha was a home from home, comfortable and with everything one could need. The setting is idyllic, surrounded by trees and with streams flowing past the mill, on the smaller of which Jose has constructed an island of cemented stones, reached by a small wooden bridge. "Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Portalegre. The staff were very helpful, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. The neighbourhood is quaint with lovely old cobbled streets with good shops, interesting buildings and good restaurants. Easy access to the local national park. "

"Unfortunately, due to the weather we did not get to venture away from the hotel but the map shows it being close to points of interest. The hotel itself was very clean, modern and the room was very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were both very good with plenty of options."
