Green Gables is a spacious 1930’s period house set in large gardens in the picturesque village of Eardisley. This former doctor’s house and surgery has been recently converted into a luxurious holiday home with four double bedrooms.
Located at the edge of Eardisley Village, the property benefits from a rural location on a country lane while having easy access in a few minutes walk to a great local pub and local store. Fantastic for walkers, with the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons within easy reach. Hay-on-Wye is only a short fifteen minute drive away, renowned for its festival, books and lovely shops. For the adventurous, in the summer you can enjoy river canoeing on the Wye river as well as many other activities.
If you’re getting all the family together or going away with a large group of friends, you want somewhere that has enough space for you all to feel comfortable. Recently renovated to a high standard, this light and airy home has amples of space inside and the large garden is the perfect place for the children to run off steam. Inside, there’s a self-contained bedroom, en-suite, living room and kitchenette on the ground floor, so one couple can enjoy their own separate space. The sitting room has a lovely view over the garden and the rolling Herefordshire countryside beyond, and the wood burning stoves are lovely to snuggle up to.

Attractions and nearby amenities
Eardisley is part of the black and white trail, a circular route lasting 40 miles. Take a drive and look out for all the fine Tudor houses, or just amble through Eardisley village itself – a map by the church points out all the highlights.
The sleepy market town of Hay-On-Wye is world famous for its second-hand book shops. The best one is Richard Booth’s, where you’ll find a cinema too. If you’re here in the spring, the Hay-On-Wye Festival is a must for readers of all ages.
If you’re a history buff there’s plenty to keep you entertained. The best castles are Goodrich, near Ross-on-Wye, Eastnor, near Ledbury and Ludlow Castle. Hereford cathedral is worth a visit too – make sure to see the Chain library and the Mappa Mundi, one of the first maps of the world.
The Welsh border country was made for walkers, with the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons as well as the beautiful River Wye. Walking up Pen-y-Fan is a must in the Brecon Beacons.
There are plenty of local walks too. The Herefordshire Trail passes through Eardisley, and there’s also a good walk to the 900-year-old oak tree down the road. Just turn right out of the drive.
The River Wye is one of the country’s most beautiful rivers, and the best way to enjoy the scenery is from the river itself. You can hire kayaks and canoes to paddle downstream and be picked up at an agreed spot further on.
If you’re looking for a bit more adventure while you’re here, Oaker Wood Leisure is a great place for outdoor activities, with quad bikes, high ropes and more.
North of Eardisley, before you come to Kington, you’ll find the Owl Centre. This small breeds farm and bird centre should be a hit with the little ones.
