Updated Healdsburg River Cottage: Minutes from Plaza, Tasting Rooms & Vineyards

This Cottage on Fitch Mountain is a perfect retreat for a couple or a small family. Recently fully renovated, the cottage offers modern comforts and sleek style distinctly influenced by its mid-century roots.

Centrally located for a wine country vacation yet only a five minute walk from the Russian River, three miles from the Healdsburg Plaza and less than 10 minutes away from wine tasting in the Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley.

This cottage was originally built as a vacation home on the Russian River. The entire building was renovated to modern standards then decorated in a classic 1940s theme. It retains the charm and feel of a country vacation rental with modern conveniences. The cottage has easy access to the River, the Healdsburg Plaza and the surrounding wine area.

The cottage has an open living and dining room, one bedroom, one bath and a full kitchen. The kitchen has a gas stove and modern appliances. The dining room has an oversized table with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a meal, a game or to plan the next day's adventure. The living room of this vacation rental is furnished with a leather sofa and a leather loveseat and several large ottomans to curl up in for conversation or to enjoy a movie on Netflix.

The master bedroom has a luxuriously comfortable queen sized bed and classic mid century era antiques. The bathroom sports classic white subway and hex tiles and a claw foot tub.

Upstairs is a sleeping loft with a full sized bed and library area with low ceilings. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a patio with a picnic table out back. The front porch has a semi-private enclosed sitting area.

The house is designed for two people but there is room for a couple of kids upstairs in the sleeping loft. On one side of the loft is a library with a comfy reading chair. The other side has a full sized futon bed on a sleeping platform.

With more space, more privacy and more amenities, make your own breakfast, pack a picnic for the afternoon and fix a romantic dinner with fresh produce found in our local markets. This Healdsburg vacation rental is a comfortable home base for your Wine Country vacation.

Peaceful respite perfectly located
The perfect spot for us to relax and refresh for all the Healdsburg and wine country activities! Very quiet and a very short drive to downtown Healdsburg.

Wonderful weekend hideaway!
My friends and I very much enjoyed this little cottage on Fitch Mountain on a weekend getaway. Great amenities and easy to use appliances. Also, the internet was fast and the electronics were easy to use. The cottage was perfect for us 3 adults but more than 4 would make it too crowded. Will definitely recommend this location to friends looking for a nice weekend away!

Dream cottage in the woods
This beautiful cottage was the ideal place for my husband and I to explore the Healdsburg area. Just far enough from town to feel like a retreat. The house is stocked with everything we needed. A quick walk to the Russian River where one could watch amazing bird life. The location is ideal for touring around this beautiful countryside. Our hosts were incredibly accommodating.

Very nice stay
My wife and I stayed here for a wedding that was just a few miles away. It is a small place but very comfortable. All of the amenities would have a home. The location is very good, close to town. Just as advertised there is only a small parking space for one car and the cottage has no AC. We found neither of these to be a problem.

Wine retreat
If you are seeking peace and solitude this is the place. The cottage is warm and cozy and comes with many amenities. Upstairs in the loft I read a book and drank a glass of Pinot noir. In the early evening before sundown, a stroll down the street to the river's path was beautiful. Sun glistening off the water. Birds telegraphing to each other and the sound of the current gently going by. Then of course are the wineries.

Very relaxing property with lots of charm
We stayed during the height of the January 2017 rain/flooding. The Russian River was a couple feet shy of flood stage, but we were warm and dry in this very nice cottage. John met us on the first day to go over the property, and we were all set. The house is clean and has lots of charm. We were able to use netflix and pandora on the TV. However, if you're hoping to catch the college football championship like us, you may need to arrange your own streaming option or check out one of the bars downtown.

Great couple getaway
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Healdsburg River Cottage. It was a nice getaway weekend for us (while our children stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's). The cottage was the perfect size for the two of us. Nicely updated and very cozy. We did minimal cooking, but the kitchen seemed well stocked. Nice spacious laundry room for a small-sized cottage. We enjoyed a walk to the river and a beautiful bike ride during our stay. It was a bit of a climb on the bike to get to and from the cottage (up and down a hill) but we managed fine. A short distance from town. It took us some time to get used to the air mattress on the bed (each side of the bed can be adjusted to the firmness desired). We had one episode of a clogged toilet (on septic), but the owner was quick to respond and was very helpful. Just might consider a larger plunger (the small one in the cottage was hard to use).

cute house, but no AC in hot weather with baby and inflexible management
I really wanted to like this place - good locations in Healdsburg, cute cottage. Would have been perfect if it wasn't up to 105 in Healdsburg while we were there. We arrived and were very happy with the house, however, when we got there, it was hot so we tried to turn on the AC, but there was no AC. We called management and they stated that it never got hot enough for AC, that we could open the windows at night (temp improved around 10 pm) and we could try to portable AC unit. The house got hotter and hotter and I had our 2 month old baby who started to sweat and cry hysterically from the heat. I tried setting up the AC, which read the inside it was 88 degrees. The AC unit did nothing for the heat and my infant started to sweat. As a physician, I was all to aware this was an unsafe situation for my infant. Therefore, my husband and I had to leave for the safety of my baby. I tried explaining this to Monique, but she stated the house couldn't have been that hot and that if I had set up the AC unit, it would have been fine. I let her know that I did set up the AC and it didn't help. They refused to give me any money back. I know they have a no refund policy, but given the unsafe, unsuitable living circumstances, I do think we should have been refunded - it was not OUR choice to leave, it was there lack of safe living situation - my baby would have ended up in the hospital. Of note as well, there were no screens on the window and the window in the bedroom didn't even open (as noted by a sign on the window). I am very disappointed with the managements handling of this circumstance and would not trust them to stay at this place. Plus, if it's hot, it is totally unlivable. Would recommend finding another place!

Perfect getaway house for Bay Area travelers
Monique and John’s rental house was a perfect place to get away for a short weekend and they were very accommodating. It was cozy, clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The house is in a quiet neighborhood near the river, which made for a nice walk in the morning, and is a short drive to downtown Healdsburg and to multiple nearby wineries. We would definitely stay at this house again!

House is adorable and met all of our needs. Close enough to town and river.
All was great. Noisy neighbors (loud party on Saturday night and loud barking dog early in morning)on the right as you face the house but we still loved the house.

Great Healdsburg location
Want to thank Monique for working with us thru a change . Really accommodating. House is in a wonderful location just outside of downtown Healdsburg. This was a girls trip ... 2 of us....house is really best for a couple as the upstairs room is tough to get to....really narrow spiral staircase... Bed on the floor, no mirror or window coverings so bright in the morn and almost impossible to get luggage up there! But lower level and backyard is perfect. Would have been nice to have some bottled water available after traveling from east coast and driving 75 min to get there. ... Or maybe even a bottle of wine. Could use a mirror on a door too. But otherwise perfect for 2 with really accommodating owners.

Just what we expecetd
The property is a perfectly quaint cottage right near the Russian River. It's just outside of downtown Healdsburg in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The home was very clean and included all the amenities listed on the website. In addition, the kitchen was stocked with little extras like sugar, butter, jams, and teas. Not something you can always count on with a VRBO property, but greatly appreciated. The owner was very nice and greeted us at the property when we arrived. My husband and I were visiting for a wedding, so we didn't get much time to explore, but we did get a little time to walk along the river, which was beautiful. We would definitely try to rent the property again if we are ever back in the area.

Perfect place for our short stay in Healdsburg.

Lovely well-equipped cottage in a beautiful location
My wife and I stayed for a weekend. We brought road bicycles and did some riding in the area, although we didn't ride the road between the cottage and Healdsburg, as although picturesque, it is quite narrow. The cottage was clean and comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The location is beautiful with redwood trees and a short walk to the river. Monique and John were very helpful and responsive.

Perfect weekend getaway!
Stayed here with my best friend whom I see only once or twice a year. This cottage was the perfect size and in a great location; a little far from the plaza but we never had problems parking. Everything was very clean and welcoming and John and Monique accommodated our request to check in early without hesitation. So nice to stay in a home rather than a hotel. Healdsburg is a perfect weekend getaway!

Great little cottage
This is a cute little cottage for a romantic getaway. It's very clean, and a nice blend between rustic and modernism. The small backyard features a BBQ, herbs and an outdoor shower. Needless to say we took advantage of it all. The river itself is a short 5 minutes walk and although it was only mid-April, the weather was so hot that we took a dip and enjoyed the tranquility of the area. For dinner and brunch we went to nearby Healdsburg and wineries. We loved it. It was exactly what we needed to relax from our SF daily city life.

Beautiful location
This is a lovely cottage and location. It is well- furnished & equipped, and very comfortable. We were in Healdsburg for a family party and it was so nice to have our own retreat that wasn't a hotel room. Our 20 something daughter and her girlfriend loved it too. The cottage is great for couples of any age, families with kids 5-12 years old, (maybe not teenagers) girls getaway, nature lovers. Old Redwood Rd gets a bit narrow and windy, but a good way to get to the cabin to see the beauty of the area. Once you are settled though, the back road in & out is the way to go. It is an easier road to drive and takes you to the north end of town. We would definitely stay again! Sorry for the late review- we were there in the summer. Thank you again Monique andJohn.
