I stayed in Havana for two weeks for work, and the highlight of my trip was el81 Guesthouse. I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the warm hospitality to the convenient location and delicious food, it exceeded all my expectations. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a small group looking to explore Havana, this guesthouse is a gem. Melba, Alberto, and Sandra—a beautiful family—went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable throughout my stay. They thoughtfully arranged a taxi to pick me up at the airport and were always available to assist with anything I needed, ensuring that every detail of my visit was seamless. Their warmth and care truly made me feel at home. The guesthouse itself is outstanding. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and offered a breathtaking view of the city from the eighth floor (see photos!). My favorite spot, however, was the terrace. Melba and Alberto have created a lush garden filled with beautiful plants, including blooming orchids that added to the charm of my stay. Every morning, I enjoyed a delightful breakfast here (included with the stay), accompanied by the cheerful songs of their rescue canary, Max. Guests also have the option of having dinner prepared for only $15 per meal. Melba is an exceptional cook—her ropa vieja and soup are absolutely unforgettable. Мои родители останавливались у Мельбы и остались очень довольны. Хозяйка доброжелательная и внимательная. Общение с ней через WhatsApp до приезда было очень комфортным – я договорился о трансфере и раннем check-in. Во время пребывания моим родителям тоже было легко с ней общаться. Хотя они не говорят ни на английском, ни на испанском, Мельба спокойно пользовалась переводчиком на русский. Завтраки и ужины были большие и вкусные. Местоположение очень удобное – рядом с туристическим центром. Вид с балкона особенно впечатлил! В доме всё очень чисто и опрятно. Родители решили, что когда снова будут на Кубе, обязательно снова остановятся у Мельбы и её семьи.

This is the perfect spot for solo traveller or two people. Well-located, lots of eateries around and just a few steps off Malecón. The host’s family was so friendly kind and welcoming. いわゆるキューバ、オールドハバナにある民泊。キューバの家庭を味わいたいなら、ぜひお薦め宿。ホストのアルベルトとメルバ夫妻が家庭的な温かいおもてなしをしてくれる。 分からないことがあれば何でも相談してみて。この家族はどんなことでも一所懸命に教えてくれる。両替、タクシー、買い物、レストランに観光と、キューバ旅行が初めての人にはとても心強い味方。もちろん安全な街の歩き方も。 アルベルトは武士道に精通していて、まるでキューバの侍。日本の話をしてみればきっと盛り上がるはず。メルバは料理が上手く、オプションで本格キューバ家庭料理を作ってくれる。海の見えるテラスでとる、宿泊代に含まれている朝食は、たっぷりのフルーツとメルバ手作りのフレッシュジュースで素敵な朝を迎えられるよ。 オールドハバナで、キューバの家庭を味わいたい旅人には最高の「EL81ゲストハウス」。 入口が分かりにくいので、WhatsAppで連絡するのを忘れずに。

This is a well maintained apartment building very clean and has elevator., it is a block to the Malecon easy walking to restaurants, shopping and has weekend market where the locals sell goods and perfrom entertainment, here you get the real Havana experience. My favorite was that it was walking distance to Casa Música where you can enjoy big Cuban Bands dance to salsa and other styles of music. The apartment itself was super clean, the host lovely and the breakfast awesome!

El81 is a pleasure to visit. From the terrace for breakfast to its location 10 minutes to the Prado and the incredibly helpful family who host you, the apartment is a great find. The rooms each have a private bathroom and are very spacious for either a couple, a family travelling together or friends. You also have the ability to request home-cooked excellent and filling meals. Very much enjoyed this stay - with two teens! - and relaxing at night with a drink and looking at the Havana sky.

Well worth it……
My stay here was excellent. The wifi was strong when you needed it. The breakfast was very good, with fruit juice, refills, a form of toast, coffee, refills, fruit and eggs to order. I had a room ( in a family’s apartment ) with views of the city and of the sea. It was within easy walk of the Malecon and the “ city centre”. I highly recommend.

Lovely place with lovely hosts. Wonderful view from the room and apartment with a large balcony, it has everything you need in a very central area of Havana, close to the sea. Loved the breakfast as well. Great WiFi which is quite rare in Cuba.

Мне очень понравилось жить в El81 Guesthouse пока я была в отпуске в Гаване. Melba, Alberto и их дочь Sandra - очень дружелюбные, гостеприимные и внимательные хозяева, я могла поговорить с ними как с друзьями, хотя было немного тяжело, так как я плохо говорю на испанском, но Sandra и Melba достаточно хорошо знают английский, поэтому мы понимали друга друга. Каждое утро Melba готовила вкусный завтрак, а днем Alberto мог предложить свежесваренный кофе. Гостиница находится в пешей доступности от всех известных достопримечательностей и набережной. Если мне нужно было поехать в какое-то место, которое находилось далеко от гостиницы, Melba организовывала мою поездку на такси. Моя комната была чистая и уютная и с кондиционером, балкон был с видом на город и море, в ванной комнате были все необходимые принадлежности и я могла бесплатно пользоваться интернетом. Я очень рекомендую El81 Guesthouse, уверена, что если я когда-нибудь соберусь приехать в Гавану еще раз, я остановлюсь опять у Melba и Alberto.

This property and the host is magnificent...if I have a suggestion it would be that they eased up the no visitor rule, I have Cuban friends and not one time I was able to bring them in offer a cold beverage or let them use the toilet...that's not good. And the other thing is they kept turning off the wi fi..for long periods of time I had no internet connection in fact I was watching a movie and all of the sudden...gone Besides that everything else was super...but I won't return.

Highly recommend staying with Melba and Alberto. They were excellent hosts, their home is clean, spacious and comfortable. And conveniently located. My cousin and I walked to most places. Every morning, they provided us breakfast and delicious Cuban coffee! They were able to book tours for us, and give us great advice on how to get around. I am recommending my parents stay with them later this year when they come to Cuba and would recommend them to anyone else I hear is traveling. Thank you Melba and Alberto for your hospitality!

Great place and great family!
When you walk in to the building, you might be a bit concerned, but not to worry, once you get out of the elevator on their floor, the home is beautiful. Alberto and Melba were kind, warm, and helpful. Their place is clean, orderly, and offered everything we needed, at a very reasonable price. They provided coffee and breakfast in the morning and even rum one evening. The location is great. Their terrace is absolutely beautiful with city and ocean views. The room we slept in was comfortable and the bathroom worked just fine. As an fyi, the Wi-Fi is not always the best. You have to ask them to provide it and they may have to reconnect from time to time. Melba has beautiful plants throughout her home and is so sweet! Alberto is also very kind. He even set up nice exercise equipment for the active travelers! There’s a heavy bag, free weights, a pull-up bar, weight bench, a stationary bike, and more. I would recommend this location for travelers with or without families/children. If I come back one day, I would choose to stay with them again.
