The property is great. Very comfortable and in the heart of old Havana. Old Havana is safe, but a bit dirty in parts. Some. Streets look clean, others look chaotic.

The rooms were very spacious and had a lovely balcony to view the streets below. Handy location to walk to everywhere we wanted to go to in Havana. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic stay
Fantastic couple who own Al Sol. Could not of been more helpful .Out side in the street of old town Havana was a shock but once in and up the stairs it was great.

Really nice hotel in old Havana
Really beautiful place to stay. Everyone is really kind and warm. The owners are always available for any questions and help. The hotel is located in the old Havana part of the city. I really recommend this hotel.

Amazing host! Very kind, opened, helped a lot in many questions. Very clean room, amazing location. Breakfast is good. We enjoyed our stay a lot. We don't speak spanish, when my daughter had high temperature our host organized taxi to take us to the hospital, was always in touch. Will never forget this hospitality. Thank you very much!

It all depends on you to make a decision. It is perfectly located but that also has disadvantages. Under my balcony, all human powered taxis (i would say tuk tuk or rik sha if it is appropriate for cuba) gather and play loud music till morning. So sleeping is problem. In addition adjacent room cells transmit noise. Also breakfast has zero protein. Eggs are extra. You should immediately supplement it. The receptionist when is in duty, is extremely well organized and deserves my gratitude. I have no idea about the general hotel situation in havana. Hope this review will help you.

Older property (in keeping with Habana Vieja) with beautiful tiles and fresh lift with colourful murals. Breakfast was simple but good - rare to find included. Carlos and other staff were helpful and friendly. Easy walk to Plaza Vieja - 3 mins!- and other sights. Huge comfortable bed.

Overwhelmed with Kindness
I cannot say enough good things about the people. The room was nice and clean and the breakfasts were wonderful but the people were the highlight. We had some weird situations come up personally and Marla and Carlos went out of their way to help us. Highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Havana!

One of the best places in Havana Vieja
The room was perfect, not big, but huge, the service was even better, and the breakfast was excellent, and you could even choose what you wanted! For tea-people like me, it's one of the few places where they have prepared plenty of tea gas of different flavors; they prepare a teapot and not just a tiny cup of hot water. Trust me, this is in Cuba quite rare :-)

I would recommend anyone coming to Havana to stay here. The owner Mara is incredibly helpful…. Speaks perfect English…. and all the staff are lovely!! The breakfasts were wonderful….. the room large and comfortable…. and it is ideally located. Quite frankly it was superb in all ways! We extended our stay three nights as we so enjoyed it!!!

The place was old and worn but clean. Water pressure was low for showers but was hot. Staff was very friendly and helpful with questions and arrangements. TV was not working our entire stay though we were told a technician was coming to repair it.

Cuba was an incredible experience, it was a little bit sad to face and see the conditions about how people live but people is so kind. At the property Aymara, Carlos and the girls cleaning they were amazing, I have no words to describe how Aymara make us feel. When booking this property we were not aware of the area it was on, it was not especially clear that it is in the very old, very small, narrow old Havana streets just outside the tourist centre. The tourist centre was about a block away, the staff was hospitable and communicative although they spoke no English. The lady was telling us to be weary as we are tourists but the area is safe and we did not encounter any strange or alarming situations. This place is also very hard to find. The room was spacious and clean, there is a common kitchenette shared with other units, and a private living area w dining room in the unit, great A/C system and a small balcony in room (2nd floor) with a view of the immediate vicinity. The washroom while modern and exactly like the photos- had no A/C, it was hot, it had a strong odour when we arrived and barely running water, not enough to shower it was like trickling and barely enough to wash your hands. Wifi and Breakfast were additional charge. It’s good and central for a very brief stay in old Havana but if you’re there more than one night, there are other options. Also no parking, they were concerned about our car parked on the narrow alleyway but there is a camera right outside and we had view of it. Many key locks, one for the front door, one to the ”main housing” unit, and one on the inside and outside of the unit door.
