The Space:
Hidden in a meadow known as Night Pastures, Beech Yurt is hand crafted using hardwood that once grew just ½ a mile away. Natural light from an oak stable door and three picture windows with blinds flood the space and, if you want to get even closer to nature, the stable doors can easily be opened to let fresh air and the sounds of the countryside stream in. A luxurious double bed, and two optional single beds complete with fresh linen and chest of drawers makes your rural retreat a home from home. On those rare occasions when the sun doesn't shine, the natural insulation of a wood floor, covered in wool rugs and the warmth of a wood burning stove will keep you blissfully comfortable.
Outside, the Yurt deck has a fully-equipped camp kitchen with a gas stove (with grill), cups, plates, cutlery, utensils, pots, frying pans, cafetiere etc. There is also a barbecue, washstand and fresh water tap, plus table and chairs - the perfect setting for glorious, memorable alfresco meals and moonlit dinners. Nearby, your safe and snug ‘en-suite’ bathroom hut, complete with flushing loo, Victorian sink, towels and a large (hot) walk in shower means you can still enjoy the comforts of home whilst out in the field!

The Neighborhood:
Originally a hunting lodge for King Charles II, Lower Lodge Farm's 3,000 acres of rolling fields and ancient woodland are interlaced with ponds and brooks that feed the River Lod. Recognised as a corridor of environmental significance, it is home to a diverse collection of flora and fauna including; cuckoos, kingfishers, deer, badgers, rare orchids, mistletoe and, if you're lucky, even multicoloured rabbits. Amongst the farm's many treasures are woodland walks, streams bristling with fish, ancient woodland clearings and the ruins of an iron forge from the earliest days of the industrial revolution. To cap it all, amidst all this beauty is the privately owned 12th century Shulbrede Priory where Parry wrote the score for Jerusalem. From the comfort and tranquillity of Beech Yurt you too will share, understand, and be at one with the "green and pleasant land" that inspired the stirring music for Jerusalem, the nation's favourite hymn.
Getting Around:
Onsite parking is available to all guests and there is a taxi service at the Haslemere train station (48 mins from Waterloo) for guests arriving by train. If you want to explore the pubs and countryside beyond walking distance, you can hire bicycles from £20 per day - please arrange this in advance to ensure availability (details for hire will be sent to you with our welcome e-mail).
Other Things to Note:
Beech Yurt is located on a working family farm so please respect the Country Code at all times. There is also a large pond nearby the yurt that you would need to be aware of if travelling with small children.
There are many wonderful things the countryside has to offer and when you're tired at the end of a hard day's play we have plenty of board games, maps and books to while away the hours.
We can also provide, a Travel cot free of charge (one available so please book in advance) and an extra bundle of wood cut to size for your wood burning stove at £10.
If you fancy a break from cooking, a dinner "Room Service" is available on request by contacting the Rising Sun in Milland at least 24 hours in advance.
If you're arriving by train, it's advisable to get your shopping done in advance, as nearest shop to the farm is a 10 minute drive.
Interaction with Guests:
Once you have checked in, you will be left undisturbed to be at one with nature… that is of course unless you need help with anything in which case someone is always on hand!
