Unsafe area
We arrived to find no area to park. Area was terrible ! Every other home had surveillance cameras and beware of dogs signs. Neighborhood had litter strewn all about. I live and work in Detroit michigan so I know what a dangerous neighborhood looks like and this was extremely unsafe. I accept that I have to pay because I cancelled but I feel that I should not have to pay the cleaning fee because there was nothing to clean. I use VRBO all the time and have never had a bad experience until now.

A failure to compromise
Upon arriving into the city, my friend and I went to eat and ran into some of my Frat brothers. They asked where we were staying at. When we told them about the apartment they asked us if we had a gun on us, as the neighborhood is known to be very rough. After hearing this I contacted the host and asked about the safety of the neighborhood. The host glossed over the issue by saying there is crime everywhere. The next day I contacted him again after having to sleep somewhere else trying to be reasonable about getting a partial refund. It has been over a day to no response. I would never recommend anyone stay in a neighborhood where they just had a shooting within a week of someone coming to stay there.
