Secluded Cabin a Stone's Throw From the A.T.!

MOUNTAIN MAMA VACATION HOMES

High on a mountain sits this cabin, just waiting for your family! Enjoy the warm weather on the front or back deck, the back deck overlooking the woods atop the Blue Ridge. Snuggle up inside with a book next to the rustic cabin decor. If you must work remotely (and we hope you don't!) there is high-speed WiFi to satisfy all your videoconferencing needs. This secluded cabin has it all!
We are committed to Rent Responsibly standards. This means we follow best-in-class guidelines to ensure you have a peaceful, safe and memorable stay with us. We care a lot about maintaining good relationships with our community, so we appreciate you following these "house rules" during your stay.

LODGING AGREEMENT: The guest booking the property must digitally sign a lodging agreement immediately following the reservation. The most important terms of the agreement are included below, and the guest may cancel a booking penalty free within 24 hours. If the lodging agreement is not completed with 24 hours then the reservation will be cancelled. The agreement will be sent via text message, so please be sure your phone number is correct before booking.

AGE 25 OR OLDER TO BOOK: The guest booking the property must be 25 years of age or older. We reserve the right to request a photo or scan of a government-issued photo ID. The guest who books must stay at the property--you may not book for others if you do not intend to stay at the property.

QUIET HOURS START AT 10 PM: Our property's quiet hours of 10 pm to 6 am are required by county ordinance and enforced by local police. If the police respond to a noise complaint, every individual on the property may face a misdemeanor criminal charge and be subject to a fine by the county of $300. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund.

Past noise complaints have always come from groups of 20-somethings. If you are booking for a group of people in their twenties and you think your group may want to play loud music at any time then do not book this property or cancel your reservation if you have already booked. Find another place for your trip so you do not have your trip terminated early and without refund.

NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERA: We use devices that measure volume levels throughout the property (like a smoke detector but for noise) and allow us to respond to noise nuisances before the police are called. The devices are triggered primarily by sustained periods of loud music, not things like loud talking or laughter (which is encouraged!). The devices do not record audio and are 100% privacy compliant. We also have a security camera that records the front door and driveway. This allows us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests.

ACCIDENT FORGIVENESS: Every stay is backed by our accident forgiveness program. Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay (up to a maximum of $1,500) if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time.

POSSIBLE BACKGROUND CHECK: We reserve the right to use a third-party to verify the guest's identity and check criminal databases to finalize the reservation. Complete terms regarding the guest verification are provided in the lodging agreement, and can be provided sooner upon request.

NO PETS, BUT BEWARE DOG ALLERGIES: No exceptions, sorry. Please don't ask whether we can allow your perfectly house-trained, hypoallergenic labradoodle to join because we can't :-) The previous owner did keep dogs, though, so those with dog allergies may want to find another place.

STEEP ROADS: Please be aware that the roads up to the top of the mountain can be very steep. In the snow it can be difficult to access the property. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge.

REMOTE LOCATION: Please be aware that this cabin is a good 20 min drive from the nearest full-service grocery store. If you're looking for seclusion, this is it! But if you prefer being close to stores then this may not be the place for you.

SNOW-INS: During the winter, four wheel drive, snow tires/chains, and a car with good clearance are HIGHLY recommended in the event of a snow storm or heavy rain, as there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the cabin. You need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the cabin early.

BUGS: This is a cabin in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are careful some of those bugs will find their way into the cabin. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food.

RATTLESNAKES AND BEARS, OH MY: Life is wilder on the mountain, so be prepared for wildlife. Timber rattlesnakes are prevalent along the top of the mountain, so please watch your step. We do not encourage hopping around on rocks. Black bears are known to make appearances, but almost always in the middle of the night and mostly in the spring when they wake from hibernation. They are generally afraid of people and will walk the other direction if they hear you. You will probably see deer and other wildlife during your stay, but please refrain from feeding.

SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the cabin. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off.

SHEETS: At the end of your stay you will be asked to strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR USE OF THE HOT TUB: By using the hot tub you agree to follow all house rules associated with it and you release the owner of the property and the manager from all liability relating to injuries that may occur while using the hot tub, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.

SEPTIC SYSTEM: This cabin has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain.

NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed.

NO FIREARMS: Guests may not bring firearms or ammunition inside the house.

NO ILLEGAL DRUGS: Guests may not possess or consume any illegal drugs on the property, including cannabis.

was expecting views from mountie and that was not present from this property. Great decks in woods but no “mountain” views. Great beds and pillows. Very comfortable for groups of 6-8

Beautiful house and property
The house was lovely and the view from the back windows were breathtaking! We saw so many deer, even a fawn suckling from its mother. Unfortunately it rained almost every day we were there thanks to tropical storm Ophelia, which meant we had to spend a lot of time indoors. Thankfully I brought books, but my husband only had electronics and had a very difficult time with the wifi on his phone and laptop (my phone as well) although we were able to use netflix on the tv. I will note that my husband did not contact the owner about the wifi issues, so no fault to them specific to our stay. I would definitely love to come back here when the weather is a bit nicer.

The perfect girls' getaway
What a slick operation Mountain Mama has - from the text communications, check-in process, check-out process, to the property itself - in both design and accommodations - including the little "extras" (branded whole bean coffee and BIG mugs stocked in the kitchen), I wouldn't rent from anywhere else in the area again! We enjoyed the PERFECT girls' weekend in this spacious, comfortable, and bougie home. All the rooms were large and roomy, plenty of privacy when needed, but the deliciously spacious common areas beckoned for shared quality girls' time! Traveling up the mountain and driveway wasn't too daunting, but it is a remote location - no pizza delivery :) And YES we too saw a bear rummaging through the driveway trashcan! So exciting! Thank you for a memorable getaway!

We could not have asked for a better stay. Mountain Momma does a great job managing this property. The communication was thorough but not too over done. First rate management company. Everything was very clean and the home well appointed. Highly recommend

Great house with tons of wildlife
The house is great, nice yard and furniture and amenities are modern with country charm. We saw tons of deer, be careful on the roads, they are everywhere. And a black bear greeted us at the bottom of the driveway onne night - he was helping himself to the trash…. but it was the favorite memory of all the kids. Stones throw from Harpers Ferry Park is really 20-25 minutes. It’s close for sure.

Almost Heaven!
What a lovely time had by all! Our stay was extremely pleasant! There is nothing that you need for this house- the hosts had it all! They were quick to respond to our inquiries before we even booked- which allowed us to make a great decision! The location was about 20 minutes to Harper’s Ferry, but we loved the drive. We saw all sorts for wildlife along the way. Speaking of wildlife, how cool was it to eat breakfast while watching deer, squirrels, and chipmunks frolic and play outside our breakfast area. The community was quiet and our morning walks were serene! The house was clean- I am a “germaphocic” and change all bedding to my own. This place was sparkling clean! No need to change to into the my own linens as I felt “at home”! We will definitely be staying here again! We have already began talking about next year, same cabin and same timing! So grateful for this opportunity! We will be back! 100%!!

Excellent response from management company, location and set up
The house is exactly as it is listed. Doesn’t have access to washer and dryer (but they didn’t advertise that they did). Wasn’t an issue since it was just a long weekend trip for us but even one more day would have been nice to have clean towels. We had some house keeping concerns (there was a mix up). Could not have asked for a better response and resolution by both house keeping service and the management company. We were there during stink bug time of year… they are harmless but everywhere including inside the house. The set up was perfect for our group and would absolutely stay here again.
