"Ryokan’s kaiseki dinner was finely executed and delicious. Ryokan has a “lion “ dance show in evening for guests, a bonus. Room size was smaller than we expected but adequate. Location was okay as apart from some stores around the square, there was nothing else around the area. "

"There were just a few English speaking employees, Iwata was one of them and then the facility was a little dated but they tried hard to keep it up to par; our first room was clean except that the bathroom had a rotten wooden panel that I discovered was the cause of the smell, so after spending time with 3 people for a few hours I had the room changed to a newly refurbished and clean one...maybe because of the whole situation I got some allergies going, not pleasant. The outside area is kept clean but there were some visible area (from the windows) that looked in shambles considering that the lake & mountain views were nice, so I pointed that to the manager and staff. Dining is limited and there is JoJo restaurant near by/across the street that hit the spot. The Onsen area was good and my wife used it many times, so communication had his changes and beware of the older rooms that might have some issues that should be addressed asap with pictures with the staff."

"Hotel Amanek was a real joy to stay at. The facilities are immaculate and the staff are polite and efficient. The area is very convenient and most if not all Kanazawa sites are easily walkable. It is best to take a taxi from the train station to get to the hotel though (approximately 1500 Y) I would definitely stay here again."

"The purpose for our visit was to relax quietly after a busy 6 days in Tokyo and Kyoto and experience a traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation and that’s exactly what we got. Our room could not have been more spacious (we did have the largest room) with an indoor balcony with two chairs that looked over the small garden, a large sleeping space and separate private bathroom and porch area. We were kindly picked up and dropped off to the station and was made very welcome by the host. We enjoyed the clean onsen and the hot dip! After a chat with the host the building is 40years old where I imagine the surrounding buildings and main roads were built after it. This therefore means it is now surrounded by the background noise from the road and slightly overlooked from the two storey homes around it. At night we pulled our screens across which reduced this noise and we slept comfortably and warm in our floor beds. The communal areas do seem a little tired and in need of some tlc and sorting out but for us, for one night, it was great to quietly recharge our batteries."

"We had Suite Room B and it was very spacious and well maintained. Rurikoh had many good services (free shuttle to/from Kagaonsen train station, spa w/massages, outdoor foot onsen, taiko drum performance, free afternoon snacks), a beautiful outdoor onsen and large indoor one, very good traditional Japanese breakfast, and very welcoming staff. A short walk (approx 8 min) to several grocery stores and restaurants."
