Sunset Oceanfront Hale Kalea - Beach Cruisers!

The City of Honolulu recently enacted a law which allows rental homes to be rented once within a 30 day block of time. While few guests visiting Hawaii are able to stay 30 days, the law is that the owner may only rent the house once within a 30 day window, regardless of how long or short the stay of the visiting guest is. Our Rental Agreement and scheduling has now been adapted to comply with this new requirement.

Escape from the city to the beautiful ocean and sunset views of "Real Hawaii." Experience the legendary North Shore of Oahu at its best! The home is situated in a prime location oceanfront between Sunset Beach and Pipeline, the "TRUE STRIP", with a 180 degree view.
This very private 4 bedroom 4 1/2 bath home, plus futon area , comfortably offers 2 King beds, 2 Queens and 2 Futons. 3 of the bedrooms are ocean front, as well as, the futon area (open space at top of stairs between the 2 bedrooms). The two story open floor plan boasts stone floors, granite, marble, cherry cabinetry, slate rock, imported Ohia logs and vaulted ceilings upstairs and down. Walls are graced with eclectic surf art and decor. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need, including a beautiful view of the ocean, and opens to dining and living area. Each bedroom is equipped with their own Smart TV, Wifi throughout. The wrap around deck is partially covered and ideal for out door dining, gas BBQ grilling and checking the surf or watching humpback whales. An additional small deck upstairs offers remarkable views of the ocean and privacy from lower level main area. Enjoy a hot tropical outdoor shower for your convenience.
Parking in driveway for 3 cars and a gate. Grocery store, Starbucks, famous Ted's bakery and gas station nearby. Also nearby is tropical four mile bike path from Sunset Beach to Waimea Falls, tennis and golf, fine restaurants and local Hawaiian food in Historic Haleiwa Town. Snorkel out front during Summer, swim with turtles at the popular Sharks Cove, hike in the tropical Pupukea hills, horseback ride on the beach at Turtle Bay, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, movie tours at Kualoa Ranch, miles of sandy beach in the back yard....peaceful enjoyment without resort crowds!! Cruise down the bike path..

For the children: Pak n Play/High chair is stored with beach equipment in garage. Laundry Area in garage as well, all for guest use. Guest parking is in driveway as owner keeps a car in the garage.

Gorgeous beach front property
This beachside property was perfect for our group! Each person had their own space with separate living areas, providing plenty of privacy and comfort. We especially loved the outdoor furniture, perfect for lounging and enjoying the evenings. The kitchen was fantastic—fully stocked with all the pots and utensils we needed. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beach!

Family Vacation
House had some maintenance issues sliding door but over all it was great. Served our needs wonderful. The property is a little trick to get into with a minivan. A large SUV may have serious issues gettint to the property.

Beach House Close to Sunset
This property is right on the beach in a great location walking distance to Sunset Beach. It’s a very nice home with lots of space and a very well-appointed kitchen. We will return!

The property is right on the beach. The four bedrooms and four and half bathrooms were perfect for all of us. We utilized all the amenities including boogie boards and outside shower. The food were amazing especially the elephant truck. We had a blast!! Thomas

Great time and perfect location
The property is located in a great spot that is quiet and peaceful but central to many of the different activities we traveled to during our visit. The house was nice overall but there were a few items in need of replacement. The beach chairs were all rusted and broke making them unusable. The smoke detectors appeared to be missing in the house which was somewhat concerning. The beach where the house is located is great for beach activities. Overall it was a nice place to stay in a great location.

Great location, 50m from sunset beach, walking distances to small store and food outlet's. Idyllic location. Big house, few yrs old, but with tonnes of amenities and good open living space. Had a large garage, which was great for our boards.

The house was ample room for all 9 of us. Bathroom for each bedroom, the beach was right out the slider. Lots of shell gathering for the kids and running around in the surf. We saw serval whales in the distance spouting and breaching! They supplied several snorkels and fins, beach chairs, large beach umbrella, boogie boards etc… made it very nice not to have to rent and wait in lines. Lots of beaches to choose from and the public beach at Turtle Bay was 15 minutes away. It was a very enjoyable stay. Definitely a must with a family!

Paradise
Absolutely loved our stay here. We loved the house, the deck, the yard, we cooked a good bit and enjoyed having a nice grocery store just down the road. Every day was special. We loved the location and the sunsets were spectacular every night. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend time in such a cool location. Our kids loved watching the surfers from the deck and we’ll always cherish the memories.

Anniversary Celebration
It was my wife’s and mine 45th anniversary. 2 sons and their spouses all over 40 years old and my wife and I were here for 10 days. It is literally right on the beach. We enjoyed the Sunsets, Huge waves, the surfers, spotting whales, Sunsets (again), the privacy of the property, the roominess of the inside, Sunrises, BBQing, and we were so centrally located to all the North Shore fun. We are looking forward to coming back with our “Kids “ and Grandkids. Thank you Tara.

Sunset Beach
Location location location! This beach bungalow was perfect for our group of 6 adults here for a wedding. We loved watching the many surfers and the whales breaching, We loved riding the beach cruisers, walking on the beach and watching the sunsets! One of the best food trucks on the North Shore (The Elephant Shack) was right across the street - delicious Thai food! Many thanks to our host!

You can’t beat this location and view, we saw whales every day. The house has a great kitchen/living area and a bathroom for each bedroom. The house has everything you need including a washer and dryer, which was nice to have. The screens need to be replaced. The house felt secure with the gate entrance. Overall highly recommend.

This was a Christmas present to our daughter, son-in-law and our four grandchildren.
Our experience renting this property was seamless and far exceeded our expectations. The house was the perfect size for our family. Everyone had their own space and we had plenty of room to gather together. The deck was perfect for spectacular views of the beach, ocean and glorious sunsets. We grilled out a couple of nights and on Christmas Eve we made my grandma’s sugar cookies to leave for Santa! We decorated a surf board with lights and Christmas bulbs and my granddaughter made a star for the top. We put Christmas lights on the deck. All in all, we had a wonderful time. Thank you for the wonderful experience Tara!

We loved this beach house!
We had an incredible time at the Sunset Beach home and didn't want our vacation to end. We did a lot while we were there...Pearl Harbor, the Cultural Center, and Hanauma Bay, but the kids just wanted to get back to the beach house! It was very private and the home is beautiful. Sometimes the waves would get a little bigger than our kids could handle, so a couple times we walked up to the public beach to the north and enjoyed the calmer surf there. The view of the water from the home can't be beat. It was fun to look outside and just see ocean. :) We have very fond memories of the five days we spent on the North Shore and Tara was wonderful to work with. This beach house made our stay on Oahu absolutely ideal! Thank you so much!

Great location just steps to the surf
Location couldn't be better, just steps down to the surf, incredible sunset views and less than a mile from Ted's bakery. The house was big enough to easily accommodate 6, and the main space with kitchen and living room was spacious with tall ceilings and comfortable furniture. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The house could use some maintenance work - the screen doors and sliders out to the deck were tricky to open, and the living room ceiling fan didn't work and the wi-fi was slow and our Netflix spent a lot of time buffering. There was a car in the garage, so it was hard to turn our rental car around in the driveway space to get out of a narrow driveway. But we enjoyed our stay and loved stepping off the deck onto the sand and sitting on the deck watching the surfers was a treat.

Amazing Beachside Location
This was our second stay at a North Shore Rental house and I would have to say this is a wonderful house and location. You are right on the beach the photos don’t really do the view justice – an amazing view and the location is exceptional. Its a very short walk to the heart of Sunset beach which is patrolled in summer. We were within walking distance of Ted’s Bakery a North Shore institution, Banzai Bowls for great smoothies and bowls and a short bike ride away from Sharks Cove where you find some great food trucks and Foodland Supermarket. The bike path effectively starts at the house and is a great way to get to the pipeline, Sharks Cove for snorkelling etc. Also for golfers, Turtle Bay is a 10 minute drive away. The house is large and perfect for an extended family with four and a half bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, large dining area and lots of space and great beach decor. The sunsets are also amazing. The owner is very easy to deal with and responded to all of our queries promptly. We are really looking forward to our next stay here.

A Great Getaway
Looking for a great place to recharge and relax after spending some time in Oahu? This is a wonderful place to do just that. We were a party of 7 who slept comfortably in this beach house. The deck led directly to a nice beach and superb views of surfers, parasailers, and occasionally whales (make sure you bring binoculars if you come during whale season. The house sits back off the main street and feels completely safe and other than the waves crashing, completely quiet. The house needs a little TLC, the back doors slide awkwardly, the steps down to the beach lack a good handrail, and the garage needs to be cleaned out of broken chairs and toys. The kitchen is well stocked with mostly everything you need to cook, but some more kitchen utensils would have been nice. Communication with the host was good, but a couple of times I felt like we were discussing separate houses. The listing and instructions mentioned a code of the gate and an extra key but when we arrived we noticed that the gate was only manually operated and the key was being used for the property next door. Also, when inquiring about hairdryers, we were told there were none, but there is one in each king bathroom. However, all of these little fixes did not negatively affect our time and we appreciated the hot water (especially in the outside shower), the quick-heating appliances, and a spectacular view.

The family is leaving but I think my wife wants to stay
In a word...perfecto. I’m both a homeowner who rents his own beach house in Florida as well as a frequent user of VRBO/HomeAway. We have experienced rentals that were not about the total experience, where details of the house weren’t thought through or were not invested in properly. It’s the tendency of houses we’ve noticed in beautiful locations like this one is beautiful, to forget about kitchen, bedding, entertainment, beach toys, etc. Tara did not forget any of these things. It’s a 15 minute walk south to the Banzai Pipeline to watch surfers ride some pretty amazing waves. You can walk 5 minutes north to Sunset Beach and see the same thing from close up. You can also just chill on the back deck and watch a handful of surfers scattered up and down the wave line as entertainment every morning and evening. The house is spacious. There were seven of us and we could have added another adult couple without feeling crowded even. The showers were strong, clean and hot. The outdoor shower made quick rinse-offs after swimming adequate to keep from having to get into the indoor showers except at the end of the day. The kitchen had everything you need. I mean everything. Fridge was spacious and your five minutes from the Foodland grocery store. The back deck was a frequent nap and reading location. We would open the doors front and back of the house and let the sea breeze blow through and cool us all off. Have I sold you yet on how great this house is and how great Tara the owner is? Made friends with our neighbors who were also renters. Most come to the North Shore ready to relax and be part of the community here. If you don’t like to make or clean up after yourself you can alternate between the food trucks up and down the highway. Shrimp tacos, quesadilla, Seven Brothers hamburgers, Açaí Bowls, Poke Bowls, coffee shops and so much more. Keep your life easy and just eat out. Thanks for an awesome week. I think you’ll see us again sometime soon.

A Beach Front Dream
The property was beautiful and spacious. We had the most incredible time spending every moment we were at the house on the deck and waking up each morning to the sound of the waves. Taking the stairs down to the beach every morning and night was the cherry on top to an already perfect place. The house exceeded our expectations and dreams in every way. Whether you enjoy building sand castles with the family, a walk on the beach, a dip in the water, or watching the surfers with a drink in hand, this is THE PLACE to stay. We hope to make it back someday!

Family trip
If you’re reading this review and you’re looking for bright and shiny, move on. Homes that are right on the beach require regular maintenance and this home is no exception. However, if you are looking for a place to stay that is family friendly - large enough to accommodate eight adults - this is a wonderful choice! Each of our family units had their own bedroom and bath. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the dining room table was large enough for all off us to gather around. The views and beach access were so amazing!! The only down side is that there are no hand rails with any of the stairs. There are three steps to get into the house, but once those are navigated, everything on the first floor is accessible. Our local host was wonderful. She more than met our needs! So, if you are looking for a large, clean house that is right on the beach, this could be for you! (Bonus - falling asleep to the sound of powerful waves after marveling at the stars was so relaxing!)
