Great Place for Large Groups!
We found the home to be excellent for our large group. It was spotless clean, plenty of space for all, and a bathroom for everyone. The kitchen was so well stocked, we could hardly believe it. Definitely a positive experience and well suited for any large group.

Quiet country home with plenty of space
We had grandparents, adult children and a teenager with us on this visit and the house had plenty of room. Beds were comfortable and seating was plentiful. Grandma wished there had been a recliner in the living room but seating otherwise was fine. The weather was pretty mild and cooled quickly at night but several rooms also had window AC units and/or ceiling fans if needed in the afternoon. Table fans were also available although one did not work. The nights were cool and star gazing was lovely as there is almost no light pollution. Little traffic in the area so walks along the country roads are peaceful. The local cows are curious and will come say hello. One of our dogs is a cattle dog so he had great fun bossing the herd around at the fences. Be advised that you do have to go up a set of stairs to access the main floor entrance but there are 3 bedrooms on the main floor for anyone with mobility issues and there are some occasional noises from a water pump in the basement area. This house is not far from grocery, restaurants, and other activities in the area. Lovely visit.

Perfect family spot!
This was our 2nd New Year's stay with our sons, daughters-in-law and granddaughter. The property is wonderful with plenty of room for all of us, and the location is beautiful and secluded while still being close to Haines and Baker City. We appreciated the discount for Anthony Lakes mountain tickets and the proximity to the resort, too. We will book again in the future!

We had a graduation party here. I live locally but needed a place for guest to stay overnight. The house is beautiful. They had more supply than I could have dreamed. I didnt need to bring half the stuff from hime that i did. The view....AMAZING!!! I got a picture of a gorgeous sunset over the mountains. I honestly can not say enough about this place.

Great spring visit
The house was great as it was big enough for the two families and our dogs. Wonderful to have a backyard for the dogs to play in, as well. Wonderful location for getting to Anthony Lakes, as well as into Baker City. We had a couple of issues/questions, but the property managers were extremely responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay there again!

Great Getaway Spot
The setting in the Baker valley between two beautiful mountain ranges is stunning, and the schoolhouse is such a unique property that the two together make for a wonderful getaway spot. A bonus is that it is only a 1/2 hour from Anthony Lakes Ski Area. The rooms are very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We especially appreciate that dogs are allowed and wood is provided for the huge fireplace. There are a few things that could use attention, like empty picture hooks on the walls, but those are minor. This is a great spot for relaxing! (The schoolhouse is on a country road about 15 minutes from Baker City.)

Wow! Beautiful and huge
A great space for a group or large family. Well appointed and beautifully remodeled. Way out of town in the middle of ranch land. Awesome country views. Great for privacy, and fairly close to Anthony Lakes skiing. Haines Steakhouse was a hoot and great food for meat eaters. Would love to come back.

Ski Vacation
We enjoyed our stay at the Rock Creek Schoolhouse! The property is spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. We appreciated the responsiveness of the property managers during a severe windstorm. One of our planned days skiing at Anthony Lakes was cancelled due to the storm and the house was a great place to relax and spend the day with the family reading, playing games, and watching movies. Thank you for everything!

Beautiful historical adventure
The charm of the old brick school house was only surpassed by the cleanliness, antique beauty and comfort indoors. The crisp linens, sparkling bathrooms, comfortable living room and delightful decor made us feel as though we were on a historical adventure. With a surprising attention to detail within the house, all our needs were met. Even a basket of children's toys was available for the kids. The wide open space outdoors allowed for hiking around the grounds and some interesting nearby attractions. To top it off the house is pet friendly and we were able to bring our dog. I want to congratulate the host and owners on their top notch vacation rental.

Beautiful Wedding Venue
We wanted a place for our widespread family to come stay together for our wedding AND a beautiful location for the event, and the Schoolhouse was the perfect place for both! Our family all stayed at the Schoolhouse for two days before the wedding, and then our friends came and joined us for the outdoor ceremony. It was such a beautiful setting with the mountains in the background and the green fields all around. The hosts were so amazing and quickly answered our million strange questions (“Where can we park a porta-potty?”) with kindness and grace. I would highly recommend the Schoolhouse as a wedding venue. Our guests were all blown away by the beauty of the house and the location, and our wedding pictures are going to be stunning!

Family spring break trip
I knew this house would be cool from the pics but it really blew us away after we arrived. The views, the old school house feel, the antique furniture, record player, spacious rooms for all and enough bathrooms for everyone made this an amazing stay. I was so surprised that this home had all the essentials! All the toilet paper, paper towels, zip locks, spices, etc for us to use. What a plus as I usually pack my own in case. We loved the fireplace and outside space, kids had a ball running around and walking the school house road too. We will be back for sure for our larger group. Also we want to know if mama cat is pregnant? If so we want a baby of hers! Buster and mama cat were loved so much - we all wanted to take them home ❤️🐈‍⬛ Thank for you sharing your home for our special family vacation.

Unique lodging in the beautiful Baker valley
Staying in an old schoolhouse was such fun! Lots of beautiful wood and large windows looking out on the lovely mountains. Not sure when the property was remodeled into a home, but they retained many old photos and antiques which leant an "old-time" air. As to amenities, the bed was quite comfortable, the linens were high quality, and the kitchen was very well outfitted for cooking in. The property manager went over and above by bringing us wood to use in the large brick fireplace. Very cozy! There were a few small things needing attention like empty picture hooks on the walls, but nothing that interferes with full enjoyment of the property. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful and spacious wintertime getaway
We stayed at this spacious and unique place over the MLK holiday as a jumping off point to ski at Anthony Lakes (~45 min. away on snowy roads). If you are looking for a unique and quiet property with plenty of room to accommodate a group or large family, this is a terrific VRBO rental. The schoolhouse is tucked into a rural countryside, but it’s an easy, straightforward drive to Baker City (~15 min.), where you can find grocery stores and fast-food restaurants, as well as a historic downtown area. Our book-loving family was impressed with the Baker City library, which is connected by a foot bridge to an Oregon Trail-themed city park. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with the aroma of freshly-made bread in a bread machine. A digital welcome screen in the entryway provided detailed information about how to work the appliances, TV, thermostat, etc., in short video clips. We also appreciated this touch: three bottles of wine available for purchase via Venmo and a QR code on the kitchen counter. These owners have thought of everything. We appreciated learning about the history of the old schoolhouse through old newspaper clippings on display in the hallway. It’s such an interesting building, and it’s clear the owners have spent time and money to improve this home. There are plenty of cozy blankets for watching TV (lots of streaming channel options, including Disney+). The kitchen has every gadget you’ll need to cook, including a full set of spices, other cooking basics and coffee, sugar and filters. Communication with the property managers was terrific. They were super responsive to our random questions. (Do you have a crockpot as we like to have chili simmering away after skiing? Yes! What are the names of the friendly cats who live in the garage? Mama Cat and Buster!) We spent an enjoyable and relaxing long weekend here and suspect you will too if you decide to rent it.
