"Absolutely amazing stay at this Ryokan. We stayed one night as part of a 3-week Japan trip and it felt like a holiday within a holiday. Everything impeccable, friendly service and fantastic comfort. The meals were out of this world good, our room had a private Onsen which was amazing, but there's also an outdoor Onsen which you can enjoy at pretty much any time. Lovely stay!"

"Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"This would be the best choice if you are looking for an authentic traditional Japanese accommodation. The hotel is very clean and our room comes with a balcony overlooking the Hida River. The view is absolutely gorgeous. We particularly appreciate the staff's attentiveness. A very sweet male staff even offered to drive us to the JR station so that we don't have to carry our suitcases in the rain. The hot spring in the basement is nothing too fancy. "The hotel was larger than what I expected. I was told there were limited time to check in, if I missed the time I might need to check in the next day, so I thought the hotel was very small. But it was a bit complicate to change elevators to locate the restaurants and different onsens. There were free parking and the parking lot was quite close to the hotel building."
