This cozy nautical cottage is located on a large, secluded, wooded lot about halfway down the Ft Morgan peninsula. The shady moss covered oaks in the back yard give way to a lovely view of Mobile Bay . Relax on the large screened porch or take a short walk down to the Bay. In addition, the cottage is located only two miles from the Mobile Street access to the Gulf of Mexico where there is free parking and a boardwalk over the dunes to soft white sandy beaches that are perfect for swimming, fishing, walking or shelling. Neat, clean, attractively decorated. Fishermen will love having room to park their boat and the short distance to public launching. Charter fishing close by.

Golfer's Paradise: Who could ask for more than a beach house and top of the line golf courses! The Peninsula Golf Club is located just four miles East. It features 18 holes, a pro shop, and restaurant. If you want to change things up a bit try the 36 holes of Pure Palmer Golf at Craft Farms, Cotton Creek, and Cypress Bend just an 15 minute drive away. Want more? Play Kiva Dunes or the Golf Club of the Wharf; both are just five miles away.

Fishermen welcome: For avid fishermen who want to bring their boat to the beach but avoid the high cost of properties with piers and docks, this cottage is perfect. The large yard has room for parking a boat and a public launch is just minutes away. The Shell Banks Reef is just out in front of the property for great bay fishing. For those wanting to fish the Gulf of Mexico, a launch a little further down makes getting into the gulf a short and easy trip.

Don't have a boat? Charter fishing services are close by. What could be easier!

Enjoy the City's recreation and special events: The City of Gulf Shores has a fantastic recreation center with daily, weekly, or monthly rates. It features an indoor temperature controlled swimming pool, basketball courts, fitness room, indoor track, ping pong and pool tables, water aerobics, yoga and other fitness classes.

Snowbirds are welcome! In the winter the city's Special Events Department sponsors an outstanding series of performances.

Perfect location, quiet and peaceful, great for pets, especially senior dogs like ours, and as our first VRBO experience we have nothing but great things to say about the home. Definitely looking forward to returning next year for our now annual vacation to the Gulf Coast

We love staying here!!! It’s convenient, our fur boy Mako loves the fenced in yard, and it’s so peaceful to sit on the back deck and listen to nature! This is our favorite place to stay and we will be back!

Perfect little cottage for weekend getaway
This was a perfect & adorable cottage with lots of privacy with a screened-in back porch. Beautiful trees with Spanish moss. Lovely and perfect spot for my husband's & my weekend getaway! Hope to return soon! Definitely recommend to others!

This property was perfect! Even cuter in person! Was clean and had everything you needed for a relaxing quiet stay! The fenced in yard was awesome for our doggo! Location is great especially if you don’t want to be right in middle of hustle and bustle but only a 10-15 min drive to all the action. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful!
We stayed for a month at this lovely cottage. The location, 7 miles from Gulf Shores' main drag, was perfect, close enough for convenient outings, far enough from the hubbub. The cottage had comfortable beds, decorated nicely, kitchen had everything we needed. Best of all, we were able to bring our dog, with a fenced yard, and ample room for him to stretch his legs. Our host was accessible with great communication. Highly recommended!

Love hanging on the back porch and listening to the outside. Mobile Street a mile away for the beach is perfect. Kitchen has almost anything you need if thats how you vacation. Plenty of parking

February Beach Getaway with Lab
So happy we found Martha's Shady Shack Cottage for our getaway. We had a wonderful stay. Martha was a great host, easy to work with and very responsive when needed for questions. The cottage was perfect for us and had everything we needed. Our yellow lab loved playing ball in the fenced in yard. She has lots of property to walk, all the way to the bay! We visited several beaches close by and especially liked the one near Morgantown subdivision. (just a few mile drive). We plan to visit again.

Cozy
I loved the property and the location and the price! Did not feel comfortable taking my fur babies to the Bay due to alot of wash up ( boards,toilet,and some trash.) Also the pics were a little decieving with the double bed room, the smaller bed was a mattress in the closet floor ( but my son loved it ). All in all though we had a great time and loved it!

Oh usually stay right in beach, but this time we tried something g different. We stayed at the Shady Shack, and we are so happy we did. We spent most of our time on back porch looking out over the old oak trees with a slice of Mobile Bay in perfect view. The breeze was lovely. We did not want to leave. We were just minutes from access to fort Morgan Beach, so we would go and stay in morning a couple of hours, and then again in evening to walk our dog, who also have it a 5 star rating! Thank you so much. I think we will be back.

Great family and pet getaway
This property was tailor made for us. While close to Gulf Shores, it was well away from the hustle and bustle. We love a nice quiet rural setting and this did it for us. The cottage was super clean. There was a view of Bon Secour Bay and a path leading to it. Our Lab loved swimming in the Bay!!! The kitchen was compact but had everything you need to eat in. It's so nice having a laundry so handy. The two bedroom one bath set up was perfect for us. And, there was a little surprise - a tiny side room set up with a bed for the kids. Since we didn't have any kids with us, it was a great place to store our luggage. The decor was so appropriate for a cottage of this type without being kitschy. The beds were sooo comfy. We would definitely book this place again.

Loved the porch and fenced-in yard. The cottage is close to everything. I spent one day at the zoo and another at the Fort. My dogs loved the yard and porch and all the new smells.

great location, loved the fenced in yard, very convenient. The house cozy clean and well stocked. We would have loved not having to go into fenced yard to enter. The key didnt work in the front door. we didnt want to leave a light on due to mosquitos. we bought a couple flash lights and that helped. The master bedroom was very comfortable. everything was clean, loved the screened in porch, shady and cool in the mornings easy to let our 2 dogs out of the bedroom to the porch and yard. I think they loved it as much as we did. It was nice to be away from traffic and still be a few minutes away. Lots of beaches to choose from

Very quiet and secluded location
Very nice place accessible to the more quiet and less touristy area of Gulf Shores/Ft Morgan. Nice place for the pups and fenced yard. We really enjoyed ourselves.
