"This hiyel was very hard to find. Almost impossible. The taxi driver from the airport got lost trying to find it. We had to use our phones GPS to find it. We finally found it (after almost an hour of aggravation) and the lady that opened the door spoke NO English and did not even know if we had a reservation. We loved the atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location in the Las Penas neighborhood was super. "This property is not a common hostal. It doesn’t have a sign outside, it is dark inside (no windows), the check-in was confusing and stressful, and only cash is accepted (no credit cards). The owner keeps the keys at all times so you basically have to ask him to open the doors (main door and room door) every single time you come back from running errands. We didn’t like the oppressive feeling and the lack of privacy and freedom to come and go as we pleased. We get that safety is an issue in this...

"Der Bungalow war sehr schön gelegen in einem wunderschönen Garten, an einem künstlichen See. Leider kann man im see nicht baden, dafür hatte es aber einen Pool. Die Küche war leider nicht eingerichtet, um darin mehr als Frühstück zu machen... Die gedeckte Veranda war toll, nur konnte man nicht von dort trocken ins Haus und in Guayaquil regnet es doch sehr oft und heftig. Man bringt dann viel Wasser und Schmutz ins Haus. Der ausgediente Kissen-Anzug ist als Türvorleger und Schmutzabstreifer nicht...
