Peaceful Getaway
Nice private grounds. Completely fenced in with trees surrounding the entire property. It only offered a full bed in one of the rooms and a twin in the other. It would have been more comfortable with a couch surrounding the TV and maybe a larger TV. Overall the space was comfortable and private.

Great retreat
We had a great stay at la maison rose. Our only suggestion would be a queen bed instead of a full in the main bedroom. Location was excellent and private, hot tub was wonderful

Serenity
The decor and furniture could use some serious modernization, however the location and grounds are extremely beautiful.

Idyllic Softness
Extraordinary tranquil slice of Banana Belt Heaven. The redwoods brace you from the gusty coast but you’re not so far off that you can’t hear the sea lions frolicking on the beach nearby. Highly recommend paying the day use fee at Anchor Bay campground and enjoying the easy walk in/out to the beach. A very lovely time.

Dreamy getaway
My kids, dog (pickle) and I wanted a long weekend getaway. We stay in Gualala every year and we’re excited to finally find a place that allowed a dog. The amenities were great, awesome garden, hot tub, decks, strolling pathways and it’s forested surroundings created a very private feel. We live gualala and the exploring the coast, but found ourselves pretty landlocked to what we felt was a perfect house for a family and dog. We plan to come back!

A winter stay on the Mendocino coast
The weather was wild during our 6-day stay on the Mendocino coast near Gualala... two days of torrential rain and gale-force winds... but we were safely ensconced in a lovely home, La Maison Rose. The house is well designed and furnished, including a well equipped kitchen. The hot tub is private and of adequate size for 4 people. The grounds are planted with native plants and are quite lovely. This was our second visit to this property. We look forward to visiting again.

Dated but has perks
Funky home, close to beaches and has a great yard and hot tub setup, but is otherwise quite dated. Beds are small, kitchenware was dirty. We enjoyed our time unplugging but felt like the price did not match the quality.

Lovely home with some challenges
The home was lovely and the grounds and location are great, as advertised. As mentioned in some of the other reviews there are some concerns, There is a mildew situation in several of the rooms especially the master bedroom. As others have mentioned there are improvements possible to the seating situation as well as the kitchen supplies. Beyond that, beautiful Ina great location. The hot tub is fantastic. We had a small issue with a smoke detector and Vacasa support was able to get someone on site to repair it immediately.

Surroundings are beautiful house needs major work
For a million dollar home a queen mattress would of been nice. Double is the biggest bed and my 6 foot husband had difficulty sleeping. Most the switch lights didn’t work, there are open maintenance holes in the walls, no screens on any windows and the spa was dirty on arrival. If this were my property I would take a lot more pride in it’s amenities.

Nice, but bring coffee, creamer, and sugar
Interesting home, if you have mobility issues not a good home to stay at. Bring your own coffee, creamer, and sweetener if arriving late and you want coffee when you wake up. It is not supplied.

Secluded and Quiet Retreat
Large and beautifully landscaped property, within in the forest, that I enjoyed walking each day. It was a perfect retreat from the city. The house had lots of large windows, so I enjoyed the outside from every room. A few minor hiccups, but nothing major, and the property manager was very responsive which was much appreciated.

Nestled in the forest near the Ocean View
Our stay was lovely. We enjoyed hot tubing our first night. It was magical and relaxing. The home is cute with many windows to see your own forest. The home is cozy. We drove to Mendocino our second day and what a beautiful coastline. We had a great dinner at Anchor Bay Thai (very close to house). Be ready to wait but the food is worth it! There on many public beaches to walk not to far of a drive near Sea Ranch. Have fun!

beautiful grounds and secluded
Overall we did enjoy our stay at La Maison Rose. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with ferns, hydrangeas, and other lush plants. The trees are amazing, and the view looking up from the hot tub was my favorite spot. The kitchen was very well appointed with dishes and pots and pans. Only downside was that there were no storage containers (for leftovers), no baggies, or tinfoil or plastic wrap. and the tiniest of coffee cups (probably tea cups). The living space was very comfortable. And we enjoyed putting a puzzle together in the office off of the dining area. The biggest drawback was the beds. They were indeed on the small size (a twin and a double in the master), which several other reviewers mentioned so we were prepared for that. What I wasn't prepared for was the squeaky springs. Every time I turned over in bed, it came with a symphony of sounds. Really worth a trip to goodwill or another thrift store and spending a few bucks to replace the metal spring bed frames with wooden ones. I also felt like my bed (the twin) was at a slight angle. I found myself clinging to the left side. The bedding itself was nice and comfy. If the bed frames were improved, it would be a no brainer to come again. Everything else was very well done, and the surrounding exterior was so serene and appreciated.

More a 3.5 spot: Nice for quick getaway, has potential
We haven’t had a real getaway in over three years. We loved the pictures of the La Maison Rose and it was a great place to getaway. We loved the character of the home and the fenced in yard / garden for our dog to hang out in while we enjoyed the hot tub. The home is beautiful and close to Anchor Bay. I thought we would have had to drive a lot more but we were able to walk to the beach and shops. We would love to come back especially if the home amenities could be improved. As others mentioned, the seating is awkward. The seating isn’t the most comfortable nor are the beds. The trundle bed was pictured as rising but it was clearly broken for a while and was missing parts. The other beds were not the most comfortable. kitchen ware is a bit dated and you’ll need to bring any condiments or spices. Toaster oven was broken. The first night we got in late and it was quite stuffy in the house. Only the slider in the living room has a screen so we couldn’t open the windows and had a bit of an uncomfortable first night. I recommend checking in as close to check in time in case you need some fresh air. There was a bit of a mildew scent but overall the house itself had a nice feel to it. Location wise for the coast - it’s a great stay and this home has a lot of potential. We would definitely come back to this beautiful home if there were better beds and sitting area.

Beautiful, secluded home on the Mendocino coast
Maison Rose is one of the nicest homes we have stayed in on the northern Sonoma/southern Mendocino coast. Located on a private road on a hill side above CA-1, it is quiet and very private. The silence was deafening! The grounds are partially covered with gardens and fruit-bearing trees. The remainder of the property is covered with towering redwoods. The house is beautifully designed, with soaring ceilings and many windows overlooking the property. The kitchen, which is open to the main room on three sides, is large and well equipped. The hot tub is a delight.

Always read reviews on property condition! This place smelled like mold the minute you walked in the door it hits you in the face! The larger bedroom smelled so bad you couldn't even stay in the room! My daughter and I slept it the small bed room. Me, a 61 year old adult on a twin been that folded in the middle when you sat on it and my daughter (35) on a murphy bed on the floor that smelled like pee! This house needs some TLC and replacement of smelly, dirty furniture. There was not one clean comfortable place to sit in the whole house! We tried to clean the house ourselves, which was crazy since there was a very large cleaning fee added to the house charge! We had looked forward to this trip for months and it was a huge disappointment! After a major meltdown, we did contact Vacasa and spoke to them about the condition of the house and the health issues it may cause. They did work with us and move us to another house and we are thankful for that!! Our California trip was not a total loss!!

Relaxing stay
We loved having this home as a quiet respite from day trips to the ocean. The garden and redwoods are beautiful and it is very quiet and private. It's not a fancy house with lots of frills, but it's in a beautiful location right by the coast. Our goal was lots of beach time and being outdoors and this place was great for us and our boys.

Not quite as advertised
While it's a great concept, it didn't measure up: a double bed and a twin (with trundle) don't quite work for most people; furniture and countertop in kitchen show have wear; no cushions for outdoor furniture except chairs; mice and ants; little pride of ownership exhibited.

Great family retreat
This place was perfect for us, our two kids 6 and 8, and our dog. Plenty of space and the fact that it is completely fenced in was awesome! Hot tub nights were so peaceful and the house has ample appliances, dishes, utensils, etc for all your cooking needs. Anchor bay store is a simple walk down the road, cooks beach is 2 min drive, gualala only a little farther, and if you head north you can get to Bowling Ball beach (try for low tide for best views). We really love the entire area and this house was a great jumping off spot and quiet retreat. Couple things to note, as other reviewers have stated the main bed is a full. It was fine for us, we’re not huge. But good to come prepared for that. Next, maybe this is a vacasa thing or just since Covid, but we’re used to be able to show up to a house and have cooking oil, salt and pepper and other basic spices on hand. Doesn’t seem to be the case anymore so I guess we’ll be bringing these with us from now on. The dishwasher is an older style that actually cleans in a reasonable time, the downside is it’s super loud. Pick your run time accordingly. The trundle in the second room was broken when we arrived. I let the vacasa folks know so hopefully it’ll be fixed before the next guest. Having the mattress on the floor was no big deal for us. There is only radiant heating in the floors. Fireplace is off limits for renters. (I don’t blame them). It works excellent but we arrived on a particularly cool bought of April weather and the house took about 12 hrs to go from 56F to 70F. Lastly this place has clearly had some rodent problems in the past, we found droppings around, but luckily no mice. All in all a great place and worth a stay.

Great property
The grounds were amazing and the house was a great find. First time traveling with my 2 year old dog and he loved exploring. My 84 year old mom could move about just fine. She was a little uneasy in the shower as her balance is compromised but otherwise we will for sure be back!!

Dog and people get away!
Secluded yet close to everything. Perfect for our small dog - safe fenced orchard/yard - enough to explore every day without leaving. Lots of satellite TV channels. So much great seafood, Mexican, fancy or casual. Oh yea, and one of the best Thai restaurants 500 yards away! Third or fourth time at this property - better than Sea Ranch for seclusion!
