Hotel Schimmelpenninck Huys
5/5 Excellent
Great location and wonderful breakfast
"We stayed here for four nights and had a great experience. It was a short walk to the nearest bus stop, the Martinitoren, the Forum, restaurants, small shops, and there is a grocery store practically across the street. The breakfast spread is amazing, with hot food, pastries galore, and even champagne! Hot coffee and tea are available throughout the day with their self-service machines. I can't say enough about the friendly staff who treated us so kindly and always with a smile. The hotel is very old, but has been remodeled recently. You may notice that those are real zebra heads mounted in the entryway, but there is a positive story about them. They actually died naturally at the zoo, and instead of feeding them to the lions, the zoo taxidermied them and sold them as a fundraiser. I definitely will stay here the next time we visit Groningen."
