Lucrezia is a welcoming hostess
We had an amazing time and couldn’t have asked for a better host, property or location. Walking distance into town, but the house has everything you need to relax at the property with large pool and plenty of outdoor seating options. The views are breathtaking, I’m already looking forward to my next visit!!
We had a fabulous visit at Pianocaldi! The views are priceless! Lucrezia was a fabulous hostess and her property was very comfortable. We had not so good weather so the pool was not something we were able to enjoy, however we look forward to returning and experiencing it then. Panzano is a fabulous little town.

Beautiful Tuscan Property
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lucrezia's beautiful house in the hills outside of Panzano. The views are spectacular whether you are sitting by the pool, on the patio or in the living room. Our weather was perfect. The house is comfortable and charming - a bit creaky at night - but that just adds to its charm, as it is a converted barn. Three bedrooms and 3 full baths worked perfectly for our family of 5 adults. The location is close enough to town to walk and enjoy dinner, drinks or gelato. We took several day trips - Siena, Volpaia and Greve. We would love to return for another visit. Thank you for a perfect Tuscan holiday!
Home was absolutely beautiful though it’s more of a guest cottage to a main house directly next door so it’s not as private as the listing made it seem. The pool was also unusable due to a cleanliness issue (murky and green) which was a huge selling point for us to book this property.
Host entered our unit without knocking or announcing- granted she was bringing something in from the rain for us, but regardless she shouldn’t have just let herself in. It made us very uncomfortable.
She also made several passive aggressive comments about us using the AC, as was monitoring our usage daily. We also asked for more toilet paper as the grocery store was closed so we were unable to purchase more & were told no.
We also had an incident with an aggressive farm dog who lives next door to the property- it chased on of us down the street resulting in a bad fall. It was inches from attacking us.
The surround is gorgeous, but overall stay was subpar.
For our 20th anniversary since getting together, my husband and I decided to splash out on a holiday with our two daughters. The cottage was ideally located close to Panzano, where it was easy to park to go shopping at the market on Sunday and to eat out in the evening. The beds were comfortable, excellent showers, esp. the one by the downstairs bedroom. Well-stocked kitchen with a good range of cutlery and various items from olive oil to washing up liquid. The living room was a lovely place to relax in the evening, drink wine and watch the twinkling lights of Tuscany as our girls slept. The pool was clean and wide, and was cleaned during our week’s stay. The only negative is that the stone is a bit rough underfoot and alongside so you may wish to wear swimming shoes.
The views from the cottage and the pool are breathtaking, overlooking the estate where the 1993 film Much Ado About Nothing was made.
Lucrezia was an excellent host. Our eldest has autism and she was very kind and quick with small requests or questions about where to eat and visit.
I am frankly at a loss to explain the previous review which did concern me before our stay. There was no dog, but a cat and some kittens and Lucrezia never disturbed us. There is a farm dog that tends the local goats but he never disturbed us and everything is well gated off. Advise using Google Maps using the last street Lucrezia mentions in her directions, not the Vrbo address.
We will be back one day!
Could not have asked for more the grounds, the house, the hostess, the surroundings . . . All just beautiful and wonderful. Felt like I could have spent a month there. The hostess was so nice and so helpful. On the last night we had the chef and owner from a local restaurant, Mimo come and cook for us. It was like a movie. He was such a good cook, so nice. Sat down and talked to us and had a glass of wine . . . It was wonderful, felt like we had a much better understanding of Italy.
We could not have had a better stay here! The home itself was unbelievably beautiful and comfortable and luxurious all at the same time! We came from a week of hiking in the Dolomites and were so happy to have a washing machine and a big comfortable bed! The kitchen was amazing to cook in, the outdoor spaces were endlessly lovely for any kind of weather or activity. The indoor space was also so amazing on the one afternoon we had thunderstorms! Lucrezia was an incredible host that helped us with everything we could possibly have needed or wanted but also gave us the privacy we loved so much. Whenever we go back to Tuscany, we will absolutely be staying here - it does NOT get better than this!!
We just spent 2 weeks at Lucrezia’s cottage in Panzano. The property was immaculate and in a beautiful setting overlooking the valley and hills beyond. The view is breathtaking. The cottage itself it tastefully decorated, comfortable, and has a reasonably equipped kitchen where we prepared most of our evening meals. There are three bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms. Access to the bathroom from one of the upstairs bedrooms was the only concern for us as we were two couples, all in our 70s and needed to navigate the stairs during the night. The third bedroom is on the main floor and is small, but it does have a bathroom ensuite. We loved the terrace which provided the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening wine.
The village of Panzano is a lovely 2-mile walk. Note that it’s worth going on Sunday for the market which has great produce and other novelty items. The local CoOp grocery store had everything else we needed for our cooking adventures. We even bought fresh cheese from the farmer on the next lane over.
We recommend this property to others who want a cozy cottage with spectacular views and a central location. The parking was convenient and paths easily walkable. We used this spot as our starting place for visits to Florence, Sienna and the countryside in general. Lucrezia was a most delightful host who shared with us some of the property’s history. Our stay was at the end of October and first days of November so we did not use the pool, but it, too, is beautiful and would be wonderful in warmer weather.
Fabulous location cannot beat the views. Wonderful village of Panzano ideal to hit the Chianti region. The accommodation was outstanding and as described. Would definitely go back.
Lucrezia’s home is perfect. The location is close to town the views are incredible and the villa is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We were 4 adults in the home and had plenty of room and privacy. We would love to come back one day! Thank you!
There could not be a more charming converted barn to base oneself for touring the Chianti hilltop towns. We must admit however, it was difficult to tear oneself away from the magnificent views. Whether sitting in the comfortable living room, lounging at the lovely pool or enjoying breakfast on the terrace the views will take your breath away. But when we did leave, Florence, Montepulciano, Greve, Certaldo and many others were less than an hour -an hour and half car ride away.
Our hostess Lucrezia, who lives on the property, was most helpful with town and restaurant suggestions and always checked on our well-being without being intrusive. Highly recommend this property for exploring Tuscany!
The Villa was a dream come true for my mother. We went for her 80th birthday. The weather was hot and we enjoyed many days in the pool which is private, soothing and delightful. The town of Panzano is full of friendly shop owners, artists and restaurant staff. We felt like we belonged here all our lives. The villa is a perfect location to explore cute towns in Tuscany and there is even a bus to Florence (one hour from Panzano). The villa has spectacular views and is cute and comfortable. Our host Lucrezia checked in on us to make sure all was well. Highly recommend. One caveat my mother is in excellent physical shape. The villa does have steps including a staircase to two of the bedrooms and a slight hill to the pool. May be challenging for elderly or those with mobility issues.
The property is stunning, beautiful inside and out and very comfortable as well. The views are amazing.
We appreciated the welcome basket Lucrezia left for us with a very nice bottle of wine and some supplies for dinner and breakfast especially since the grocery store was closed Sunday when we arrived.
What a lovely property. Close to town of Panzano- walking distance. This home is special. Our host checked in with us many times and was so sweet to wait for us on checkin even though we were hours late. This is a great location in Tuscany- we were minutes from everything! We loved the villa so much we changed plans often just to sit and enjoy it!
We stayed at this property in August 2020 and loved it so much we booked again for 2021 as soon as we were home!
The villa is beautifully furnished with incredible views and the most amazing pool. It's in a great location, right in the heart of the Chianti region.
Definitely would recommend. As soon as we can return, we will! Thank you Lucrezia for another wonderful week.
Alles in allem absolute Empfehlung!
We had a brilliant stay at this beautiful villa which is located in the most picturesque setting imaginable.
The villa itself looks even better in person that the photos on here, it has been renovated extremely tastefully maintaining the original features whilst being tastefully decorated and furnished. The views are like incredible, the lounge has glass sliding doors where you view the stunning Chianti landscape in panoramic view like a painting. The pool is without doubt the best we've ever experienced, it is large and deep but best of all are the views from it. We travelled as a couple and I'd say the villa was ideal for a couple or a family with children due to it's unique layout.
It is incredibly peaceful, just a short distance outside of Panzano down a private track. We regularly walked in to Panzano which took around 15/20 mins. Strongly recommend a car it is necessary to experience all that this region offers.
The owner was very kind and communications were perfect, checking in and out was easy and she respected our privacy but lives in the adjacent property so always on hand should it be necessary.
Overall we highly recommend this villa for the perfect rural escape holiday. We would definitely love to return!
The house looks just like the photos. It is in amazing setting and the views are wonderful.
Lucrezi, the owner is very and helpful and lives in the house behind the villa.
Panzano is a 15 minute walk away, but please note a lot of it is a dirt track. The village itself is small with just a couple of restaurants, gelaterias and a few shops. The Sunday market is worth a visit.
The main bedroom has a small bathroom and if you're tall it's difficult to stand up straight.
The only other downside was that there were only three sunbeds, so as a family of four someone always had the deckchair.
All in all though, a lovely villa in a lovely location. Would definitely recommend.
Everything we expected. Great location for day tips to all the Tuscan hill towns. Quiet. Great bathrooms and lots of hot water. Pool look great (too cold for swimming in October).
Everything is even better than the photographs and descriptions....even better than the many glowing reviews.
Looking forward to many more vacations a Lucrezia wonderful “peasant house” ...just perfect!
