Cabin w New Hot Tub, River/Kayak, WiFi, & Fire Pit

Summary:
Tranquil Nights Mountain River Cabin retreat is the perfect getaway for your family, friends or small group!

The highlights:
- Relax in our private hot tub
- Cozy up around the firepit
- Play Board Games (we have 20+)
- Kayak on the river with private dock access
- Grill on our large deck
- Stream movies or make video calls on the fastest WiFi you can get in WV
- Drive 20 mins to Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, and year round festivals

The Space:
Our large, family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for groups large and small. This open floor plan features two living areas, a fully stocked kitchen, large screened in porch and wraparound deck, propane grill, fire pit and can accommodate 10 comfortably.

The cabin includes:
- 3 bedrooms + a large basement sleeping area (1 Queen, 2 Doubles and 2 Twins and a bunk bed)
- A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill and screened in porch
- Fully stocked kitchen
- Private outside hot tub that comfortably seats six
- Kitchen with a dishwasher
- Central heat and AC (it gets hot outside in WV in the summer!)
- Wood fireplace and wood pellet stove to keep you cozy at night
- The fastest WiFi you can get in the WV mountains (18 Mbps)
- Downstairs ping pong table
- TV with dozens of movies, DVD player, and Apple TV
- Plenty of books and board games to keep everyone entertained

Outside you’ll find:
- Relax in the hot tub
- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang
- Kayak and 2 SUPs ready for you by the river

Our cabin also has private access to the Cacapon River, just a quick 3 minute drive away. The river is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing -- and is very clean and clear. We have one kayak and two paddleboards for you to use that we keep stored at the river from spring to fall.

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Note: a maximum of 6 adults are able to stay at this property, per the regulations of our cabin's HOA. Larger groups with a mix of adults and children are able to stay here -- up to 10 guests total. So if your group is > 6 people and includes children, that's totally OK! Please let us know so we can leave enough towels. Thank you!

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are. You have all the amenities of living in the mountains, but you're also only 20 minutes from the city of Berkeley Springs. The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint.

The Neighborhood:
Tranquil Nights is just south of the city of Berkeley Springs, and feels like a world away from everything. The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains right near the Cacapon River.

We love the river! We often go swimming, tubing and fishing; it's perfect on a hot summer day.

About a 15 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!

Getting Around:
There's plenty of parking on site. We're about a 20 min drive from Berkeley Springs.

Interaction with Guests:
Tony can be reached via cell/text during your stay, and a property manager can be onsite for any issues that arise.

Relaxing spot
Pros: Enjoyed staying at the property. Family enjoyed the peace and quiet. The screened in porch was particularly enjoyable, and the kids enjoyed going down to the little creek in the backyard. The river access was a nice perk. The hot tub and new grill were in great condition. Cons: There was a dead mouse in the basement. It was pretty obvious it had been there for awhile and that the cleaning staff tried to mask it with Glade plug-ins. Once we found it and cleared it out the smell in the basement quickly cleared as well. There were no kayaks or canoes at the river that were associated with this cabin. The shed was a complete mess, and while it contained several rafts and floats the pump was missing critical components. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom sounded like it was about to fall on us. Also, received texts from the supposed owner during my stay. When I complained about the kayaks, he told me to ask an attendant for help but I’m pretty sure there are no attendants that work at the riverside. That and numerous spelling errors makes me wonder if this text service is contracted out. All in all, it was a fun stay but not all as advertised.

Basic Escape to the Woods
We had a great stay at Tony’s place! It was easy to check in, directions were thorough, and location was just what we were hoping for - off the beaten path and in the middle of the forest. The cabin itself is cute, but very basic and in need of some repairs and updates. The dishwasher does not work, downstairs electrical was spotty, and lacking in the finer touches that make a place feel more personal. However, it really did have the fundamentals of what we wanted in a quick getaway - great fire pit, hot tub was clean and working, and plenty of games for the whole family. We’re appreciative of the pet friendliness, too! Would definitely return.

Excellent non-crowded Labor Day weekend getaway. Cabin was sufficient for all needs of the family but the surrounding area was wonderful for activities such as swimming and hiking.

It was ok.
Property has very dirty. The floors were not cleaned in a long time. Our daughters white socks were black within 10 minutes. The bathroom clearly wasn’t cleaned from the last visitors. They gave us the wrong directions twice. Which made our drive an hour longer. The river was nice. Warm. And clean. The cabin was spacious. The screened in porch was nice in the evenings.

This old house
The area itself is beautiful and the lake is warm. The house needs some attention. The shower handle was broken, we couldn't get the toaster to work, we found fish hooks on the floor and we were not able to get a key card or key to the house despite numerous calls and texts throughout the week. The ground level accommodations are dark and musty. The garbage had not been collected the week before and my parents spent some of their stay picking it up around the yard. We were disappointed.

So peaceful
If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to go. It is in the middle of no where with the closest store being around 25 minute drive. Pros: very quiet, hot tub was awesome, screened outdoor patio, good location to get away. Cons: tv upstairs did not work, outdoor grill needs to be replaced, dvd player downstairs did not work, and no firewood. There was a tv downstairs that got Netflix etc with your account but no tv channels which is good if you want to get away from all the news etc. Needs upkeep (cons above) but a good place if you just want to get away.

An ok getaway
It was an ok place if you arent looking for new or modern. The furniture is older. Walls could use a new coat of paint. The beds are pretty firm. But the internet is fast. My kids were able to game online on 2 different systems at the same time. And they took full advantage of the kayaks. Overall we had a good time

Relaxing Retreat
We loved the location and the privacy that this cabin had to offer. It was very spacious. The sound of the creek flowing at the bottom of the hill was very tranquil and accompanied the bird song really well. The hot tub was great. The cabin is real close to Berkeley Springs, which is such a lovely town which we frequent often for the hot springs. Tony and Grace were very easy to communicate with. We will surely return for a future stay.

A perfect, secluded Christmaswweee Holiday
This was genuinely the most relaxing holiday vacation we’ve had to date. Tony’s cabin home provided plenty of space & amenities to make this a home away from home. Any concerns were addressed as quickly as communication allowed. The rugged setting was breathtaking in the snow! The small town of Berkeley Springs is about a 30 minute drive. Note: cell phone service is extremely spotty so be sure you communicate via Internet based lines.

Disappointed
The instructions we received to get to the lockbox were outdated. We arrived at the lockbox and it was open and empty. We continued to drive around thinking maybe it was a different one hut there was no other. So we had to drive to to reception to call to get the correct instructions to get the key to get into the property. The next day, our sons birthday, we took him to the river to go on the kayaks that were mentioned. Description said kayaks (plural, with one being a two seater). Description also gave colors that didn’t match the numbers on boats. Impossible to find. There ended up being one single person kayak, and two paddle boards. The lock code didn’t open the lock to those either as we had gotten old info and no one rectified that regarding the boats until we called. So, the one thing my son really wanted to do on his birthday, he couldn’t do, and we couldn’t have done it as a family anyways with a single person kayak. The house wasn’t clean. The dining room table had grease on it I could rub off with my finger, very apparent it hadn’t even been wiped down prior to our arrival. The pillow shams on beds weren’t clean either and smelled of other people, although the sheets were clean. The firewood was either not seasoned or rotten, as it wouldn’t catch fire at all. We had to go out and purchase wood and then we had no problem starting a fire. The hot tub had dirt at the bottom as did the seat, however I do understand it’s a hot tub at a cabin in the woods that multiple people rent. All of this I was willing to overlook until I got out of the hot tub and dried off with one of the provided towels. It reeked of urine! Even my husband who usually can’t smell anything was floored at how bad and strong the smell was. It was as if the towel had been used to soak up urine and left to sit for many many days. That was it for me, at that point I was done with “The Nut House” and we will not be returning. It was the worst vacation we have ever had. We have rented cabins at Deep Creek Lake and other areas, I have never had such a horrible experience as this one. This was our first time in West Virginia And it was supposed to be a special time for the kid’s birthdays but it really was quite a disappointment right from the beginning and ended up with us grossed out, disgusted and ready to leave.

Great Experience!
A friend and I took our teens and had a wonderful time. The Nut House provides enough space for everyone, is well maintained, has loads of indoor and outdoor entertainment. This is my second visit; however, the first with the new owner, Tony. Exceptional, responsive, and caring are but a few words that describe Tony. I would highly recommend this and any properties from this owner!
